Specialties
Anthony’s Fishette brings San Diegans and visitors alike the delicious seafood that the Anthony’s family of restaurants are famous for, served fast and fresh in a walk-up, patio dining environment.
The fish and chips are world-famous, and are still made using founder Catherine «Mama» Ghio’s secret recipe. There are also crisp seafood salads and the original «shrimp boat».
It doesn’t get any better in San Diego to sit on the deck at the Fishette, enjoying a lunch or dinner with a glass of wine.
History
Established in 1971.
Anthony’s Fish Grotto was founded in 1946 by Catherine «Mama» Ghio, her two sons, and son-in-law. The restaurant continued to grow and prosper, and in 1966, a new location was build over San Diego Bay.
In 1971, the front area that had been the gift shop was remodeled into the Fishette, a walk-up quick serve restaurant. The little Fishette has continued to serve up fresh seafood since then.
