If I could give this place zero stars I would! I called ahead and asked If the had bloodworms. When I walked in the door and asked for the worms a guy buried half way back poked his head up and said «lug worms»? Nothing I read on line said anything about lug worms so I said no. There was a guy behind the counter who shouted while mocking me, «they are the same thing…» He even went as far as to point at me and shake his head making sure everyone in the place knew I was an idiot. For the record they aren’t the same! Blood worms are bigger and heartier and thus can be used on multiple casts.
If that weren’t enough to make me never visit this crappy place again, when we got to the cooler where they keep the worms, there weren’t any. REMEMBER, I CALLED BEFORE I DROVE ALL THE WAY OVER THERE.
If you want to feel like an idiot make this place your default. If you prefer to be treated like someone with a pocket full of cash, choose another place.
I hope this post prevents people with hard earned money from spending it there. You deserve to be treated better than that.

If Anglers Choice dosnt have it you don’t need it, Luc really packs it all in to store. Everything for bay to long range fishing can be found here. The staff is glad to clue you in on what is working and were. I get all my reels serviced on site and they have never failed me. One last comment, Luc has helped me out donating swag for my charity charter for the past 5 years, making the raffles a big hit. Thank you Anglers Choice.

For gear and service that are hard to come by go to Angler’s Choice Tackle. Being out of state it’s next to impossible to get hot tackle like JRI wahoo bombs, but they made sure I got what I needed for my big trip. Special thanks to Christine you are awesome!

Went to this place around 6PM because it was the only place open past 6. They do have a lot of gear. I’m a noob to fishing as a hobby so was a little upset when I asked for recommendations the first guy that helped me let me know what was best and then went backed to what he was doing before I could ask any other questions. Then I asked the other man working there his recommendation and I got ignored about 3 times … So there I am looking like an idiot wandering the store while he helps 2 other gentleman out I was patient so wen they finished and left I asked again for his recommendations, after 20 minutes he finally decided to guide me through the beat hard baits for bay fishing
In my opinion you should treat all customers equally my favor and give the noobs a little more attention

Christine went out of her way, way out of her way to get me some JRI wahoo bombs that they were out of and didn’t have in stock, she made sure I had them before my trip, called me with updates, kept me in the loop while trying to get a hold of the manufacture, did an awesome job, most shops would have just said, no sorry we don’t have them and hang up, she went out of her way to say I can get them for you how many and what color and she did exactly that and mailed them to me free. that’s service at its finest. I am definitely a fan now and will be getting more of my fishing tackle at Anglers Choice. way to go.

First time there the customer service was great help found everything i was looking for i appreciate it and i will be going there way more often then i should i recommend it to other people that love the sport just as much as i do !!!

Hands down best help I have received in a while! I came in here with a lot of questions, and minimal offshore fishing experience (I’m a freshwater guy), but the two employees Kyle and Michael were able to point me in the right direction, tell me what works and what doesn’t work, and leave me feeling confident in the gear that I purchased. I’ve been to a fair number of tackle shops, however, this one was by far the best! I honestly can’t thank the employees who helped me enough!
As far as prices go, they’re actually really good at this shop. I found that everything was cheaper than some other shops, and I probably saved somewhere in the range of $ 50 on my purchase by coming here.
Overall, the service was great, the prices were good, and the experience was awesome!
If you get a chance to stop in here, talk to Kyle or Michael, they were beyond helpful and left me feeling confident in the gear that I’m taking on my trip.
Just one thing to add, don’t wast your time going to a «big-​box» retailer… They’re more worried about making their bottom line rather than helping the local fishing community. Stop in to one of these smaller shops where they only hire fellow anglers who care about the local fishing community and products that they sell.

Very helpful and great atmosphere. Picked up a shimano torium 20 and some lures today. Christine helped narrow down the right gear for my trip and nico did an awesome job stringing my reel. thanks for all the help will come back again

There gear selection is unmatched by anyone is San Diego. The guys there are fairly helpfully and won’t hesistate to help put you on fish as well as make tackle recommendations. Minus one star because everything is kinda expensive but then again is fishing and it’s not really a cheap hobby.

Popped in here last week and bought a new rod and some other stuff. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who are happy to let you wander. I saw mostly saltwater stuff. But considering you’re about 200 yards from the bay it makes sense.
Prices were about average for local tackle shops. But selection was a lot better.

I checked this place out yesterday. Small store– but packed to the gills. Found everything I needed quickly and easily.
A tall thin younger guy helped me out– really cool and genuine. The other larger, longer haired guy sucked.
**They wouldn’t hook up the free t-​shirt in exchange for checking in on Unilocal,unless I bought $ 20 worth of gear. Which is not what is advertised on their Unilocal listing says.
So I guess they’re not getting more nearly free advertising? It would seem the more guys fishing, wearing your t-​shirt advertising your place of business– the better, but hey– I’m not the dude cuttin’ the big checks to the landlord, payroll, workers comp, ins, vendors, etc. So what do I know? I’m just the dude buying some gear so i can try and fish with my kid.

Lots of good gear. Return policy is Bull Sh**…tried to exchange a reel for a model that they did not have in stock… would only give a store credit or refund less 15% even though i wanted a more expensive reel.
Owner needs to rethink customer service policy and how to retain customers or loose customers for life.
For example I spend $ 800.00 a year and have been fishing 40 years… do the math.

This is a shop packed to the «gills» with both fresh and saltwater gear. The staff are friendly and willing to help customers find the gear they need! Give this place a look and support local business.

Super helpful staff. Good local knowledge. It’s FULL of gear and they have a great selection. I try to stop by whenever I’m in San Diego.
Update: I saw these guys at the Fred Hall show and they remembered me. They were super helpful as always. If you stop by, see Troy, he will set you up with the right tackle.

My little go to spot whenever I’m in the location. It is a little hard to catch, but be sure to keep an eye out for this place because they got everything you need. The guys there also got a lot of knowledge about fishing. So if you feel like you need to ask them something, feel free to ask away.

This is a great little shop in Point Loma tat seems to offer a bit more in the way of frozen bait offerings than other bath shops in the area that I have been in
These guys also seem to be right up to speed with what baits and lures are working in the current fishing conditions and what isn’t
The shop looks small but has quite a bit to offer int he way of saltwater fishing tackle and gear conditions
I usually use this place for lobster bait when they are in season — so give them a try next time you are headed to that next of the woods before you head out on the water

I’m going to re-​write my review about this place. Sure it’s a bit cramped up but you have a nice variety. I would rather have my variety then to have nothing at all. You have your low to high end equipment. If you know what you are looking for they will have it. If you want some good advice on where to fish and what you need to have, look for Luc or Vince they know what they are talking about. They will give it to you straight. This is a good place if you are a beginner or even a pro. Fish on!!!

This place is crowded. It’s a bit overwhelming walking in because it’s a small store and they cram everything up everywhere. It’s a bit difficult to navigate through and find anything.
Prices seemed a bit higher than other stores. Can’t really comment on the customer service as they didn’t really reach out to anyone in our group.

Its too bad I cant give this shop no stars. They deserve none. Not even one. I decided to give this place a look a few months ago. I heard they were one of the only shops that did over the counter shimano warranty service. I found the red head guy working reels to be super cool and informative. I decided to spend a cool 700 dollars here on my first trip. If I had known this luke owner DOUCHE was such a dbag, I would rather have burned my money than give it to his kind.
My brother also wasted his money here. he bought a shimano worm and jig rod 7’2″ med/​heavy. While fishing my brother hooked up to something heavy and it snapped his rod at the second guide to the tip. NO SWEAT right? Wrong This Idiot luke decided he was gonna lecture us on how «rods never break there.» Then went on to tell us how «well that warranty policy is gonna change.» He said he would warranty it for us. but it was the «last» time. He then proceeded to drag out this episode on how not to do customer service. It was excuse week after week for 2 MONTHS! I recently found out the local headquarters is only an hour drive from San Diego and they can literally over the counter warranty it. 2 months huh?
DON’T GO TO ANGLERS CHOICE!
