I was looking for a boat shop after Hipp Marine closed, read some reviews and decided to give AMS a shot. I couldn’t be more pleased Laura, Dennis and the whole crew were fantastic. The price was very reasonable, the service second to none and most importantly the boat has NEVER run so well. Its very comforting taking your boat to a shop knowing the work is going to be well done at a fair and honest price. My search is over as yours will be after 1 trip to affordable.

Dennis at Affordable Marine is one of the nicest, most knowledgeable and professional people in the boat repair business. I have an older boat and probably not the most glamorous to work on but it was repaired professionally and on time. Good people!

Brought our boat in after a trailer detachment accident. Worked with Dennis & Laura and both were friendly, helpful and understanding. Dennis was exceptionally helpful dealing with the insurance. Repairs were made. Service was terrific. The crew called me by name which was a wonderful, personal touch. Will always bring our boat to this fantastic place. Thank you!!!

I would not recommend the San Deigo AMS because, simply put, a represenative of this business, somebody by the name of Dennis did not do what he said he was going to do, does not know how to schedual pickups and is somewhat unreasonable. Dennis said he was going to send a flatbed truck to my residence to pickup someboat parts, after a more than reasonable amount of time passed I contacted him to find out the status, Dennis said I was pestering him and if it continues,“the deal ends here and now”.Since when did communication become a bad business practice, if it is iam not aware of this fact. Nevertheless although I had contacted him only 2 times in all, I respected his request. As I suspected the truck never came and this person Dennis never contacted me and to this day have never heard from him. Dennis must be a supv. type figure not just anyone could schedual trucking so perhaps he has competency issues. Following thru is without a doubt a necessary part of business and that is why in my opinion AMS will never be recommended to business partners, constituients, friends or anybody by me. I cant for the life of me figure why somebody would inquire about parts, agree to a compensation and pickup and then just drop the ball so to speak, leaving the other party hanging. OH well what can you do, this world is made up of all kinds. It only takes an hour to splash my boat from my doorstep, and that’s about how long it took me to forget, AMS, Dennis and this entire S.N.A.F.U.

This place gets the job done!!! This was the second time ive had repairs done, im very happy with the service, everyone was very helpfull and explained everything to me.

Called Dennis at Affordable Marine to work on my 2007 Yamaha F115. He said I could bring it down in 4 or 5 days, so after 4 days, I called him and he said bring it down.
The motor was missing and running funny and had actually been at another shop for three weeks and they couldn’t figure it out. Anyways, Dennis called me after a week and said he thinks it’s an injector, but was going to run more tests and figure it out. I gave him the green light to go ahead and get it fixed and he did just that. He called back the next day and said they replaced a bad injector, sea trialed the boat and was running great. When I went to pick up the boat, I happened to catch the mechanic that worked on it and he explained each process of elimination they went through to find the injector. Awesome Job! BTW these injectors were cleaned by another shop, but they just couldn’t figure it out.

I brought my 19′ stingray I/​O to Dennis. He provided me with a quote and was easy to work with. After picking up the boat, he did all the repairs and finished up the job $ 400+ under his quote! I’m very happy with his work and I will definitely be taking my boat to him each season for servicing.

Used them for the first time when we were getting our boat ready to sell. Wished we used them years earlier. Very knowledgeable, and did excellent work. Boat passed all inspections and sea trials without a hitch.

if you think about going to any other boat repair shop stop and go see dennis at affordable marine. not only is his staff friendly, personable, and professional, but they will walk you through any repair and make you feel like you are part of the family.
i brought my ski boat in this week and was prepared for an unruly repair fee as i was quoted prices from other repair shops that were insane to say the least.
dennis took care of me and only did the repairs that were necessary and did not try to up sell me at all during this process as most other boat mechanics will do.
i will only take my boat to affordable marine service in the future and i recommend that everyone else should do the same.

Dennis with Affordable Marine is a professional with experience in the industry and the local market. Not a boater myself, I needed some advice regarding a boat repair and Dennis was so helpful and understanding, making my job much easier. It really made me comfortable when I mentioned him at the marina and the staff there all knew him & trusted him.

I have been taking my boat (s) to Dennis and crew at Affordable Marine for as long as I can remember. My last boat guy retired and I had a recommendation from a good friend for AMS. Best advice I have ever gotten.
I take my boat in every Summer and have my annual service performed. Invariably, there are a few bits and bobs that need to be tightened up.
This year, the little extra stuff actually saved my boat. They had done a full inspection and realized that my automatic bilge float switch was not functioning. A very cheap and easy repair. On my most recent trip, my bilge started pumping automatically. It has never done this before. There was a small hole in the hull and water was leaking into the bilge. Without the minor fix, my boat would have sunk in it’s slip!
Little things like this keep me coming back.
One year I had a minor problem on our annual Summer vacation. Dennis found a local dealer and walked me through the repair.
The service has always been great. My boat has never run better. I couldn’t be more happy with AMS.

Read the reviews and you will find a familiar theme. The service and caring they have for you and your boat are uncompromising. I purchased a used boat that had a few issues and Dennis and the staff got my boat to a place where I trust it out on the open seas. I had a recent event (Oil Pressure Alarm) and called the shop on a Sunday night to leave a message, and hopefully get the boat looked at on Monday. Well, an answering machine is not what AMS calls customer service and Laura answered the phone (Sunday Night!) She scheduled me in on Monday. I was hopeful I could get the boat fixed to be back on the water by Wednesday, (A pretty tall order.) Dennis discovered the problem and had my boat done and ready the same day I dropped it off. Exemplary customer service, competent mechanics, and a genuine caring about getting you back in the water. That is how I would describe Affordable Marine Service.

I have an old ski nautique that I wakeboard behind. I had some really really bad experiences at the nautique dealership. I wish I had discovered Dennis at Affordable Marine earlier.
#1 They are honest and get the work done for much less than other places.
#2 They are super helpful and generous with their time, I have called numerous times with problems while on the water or out of town on the lake. Dennis has been able to diagnosis things over the phone and come up with a temporary solution to salvage the trip. When I dinged my prop, they pulled it off for me with a specialty tool for free.
I think in the last 5 or 6 years I have probably saved 5−10k by using Affordable Marine. I have total confidence in Dennis’ skills and his honesty. I can’t recommend them enough.

I’ve had Affordable Marine Service take care of my boat for the last four years and I feel Dennis has been upfront and honest about everything. He fixes what needs fixing and lets you know what will be coming up, so it’s not a suprise later. I would recommend AMS to anyone.

Dennis and friends give marine mechanics a good name. They’ve worked on several of my boats over the years and always do a great job at a fair price. They seem to treat your boat as if it were their own. These guys know boats.
