I don’t know why I keep getting charged $ 8 fees! Called them to inquire and they said they’ll remove it and a few months later it’s back on my credit card!!!

as everyone says, be careful. It’s a scam

Just received a classic scam email from a url that is identity protected, but links directly to
which is owned and run by the Activity Network. These people are full on criminals.

this company is an absolute scam. Signed up for a couple races, selected some «free» 90 day magazine subscriptions, then was promptly charged for said magazines that were «free». I’m stunned I haven’t heard of a class action lawsuit against these bastards yet. It’ll happen. Any vulture attorney’s out there, email me, I’ll throw my hat in the ring against these shits.

Customer service is just awful. My girlfriend signed up for a race, and like many other people, discovered a strange charge on her bank account. When she called them for a reimbursement, the representative says to her, «…there was small writing for a free trial membership. Since you didn’t read it, you didn’t opt out of it. Next time you should read». She asks if there is a survey at the end of the phone call so that she can review the experience, to which the representative responds with, «no, that’s why I don’t care if you are annoyed». She then asks if there is a reference # for this call in case the reimbursement doesn’t process and she can follow up. The representative responds with, «well if you don’t see the credit then you need to talk to your bank because we did our jobs. So don’t call us».
A little research revealed that this agency has had to, under Iowa Attorney General’s direction, «refund $ 237,167.42 to Iowans who had been charged for membership programs, and pay $ 15,000.00 to the state for consumer fraud protection.
Their business model is fraudulent and their customer service reflects their lack of concern for the people they are defrauding.

They charged a 9 dollar fee on my credit card first, then a 135 dollar fee… none of which was authorized. This is a scam!

This company made signing up for a race very easy. If you pay attention to what you are doing, you will notice they offer a 30 day trial membership (where they waive the processing fee’s and offer your 5^th race free (up to a certain value)). A quick calculation and projection had me convinced it was worth the $ 64.95 to sign up (I’d be doing over 5 races with them, so 5^th one was free and I would save about $ 8 per the other 4 races, total savings $ 82 (net savings $ 17.05)). There were numerous notices that they talked about their membership program and like a good consumer, I did enough research.
For all the 1 stars — it sounds like you didn’t pay enough attention to what you were doing, them blamed the company for that. I’ve read enough where Active did refund the membership fee for your own error.
When signing up for anything it is necessary to do the research to ensure you know what you are getting.

Pathetic customer support. This company is all that is wrong with corporate America.

Like many of the reviews on here, I was duped into this $ 64.95 membership fee by not opting out of a free trial. I don’t recall ever seeing that option, and I wouldn’t expect such a deceptive practice from a company that organizes races for a charity. I requested a full refund, cancelation of the membership, and disputed the charge with my credit card company. What a horrible company! Stay away.

Signing up for a fun run and being slammed into a $ 64.95/annual fee membership via fine print is NOT a good way to do business/​gain members. Trying to call to cancel now but they are not currently open so can’t report on how helpful they will be re a cancellation and refund request.

Ops, 5K turned out so much trouble, they charged for membership , then charged the magazine which mentioned during registration for 3 months for free. I would give 0 if it’s possible!!! gosh, nightmare ;(

What a load of bullshit this company is! I signed up for a powerliting meet and had no idea this company wrote in the fine print that I was signing up for a membership. As it is I am already low on cash so to be charged $ 64.95 was infuriating. I called and was on the line for almost an hour and finally the lady who picked up give me the run around and tried to get me to buy more services! After being that person and getting nasty on the phone I got a refund and cancelled my membership.

This company operates in a Manor that SCAMS individuals out of membership fees. By offering free trials hidden as gifts on websites like ReserveAmerica. Com.
While reserving a Florida State Campground, i discovered 30 days later that I had been Scammed into a membership that they STOLE from my credit card WITHOUT my authorization!
They have a 100% guarantee to protect their sorry butts when someone catches the charge on their statement. That does NOT make what they do legal.
When their is a Class Action Law Suit… I WANT IN!
The owners and employees of this company need jail time for their part in the crimes this company is a part of.

Horrible customer service.
They were billing me on two different email addresses, so I was being billed twice a year!
I was going to keep one account open, but their customer service was so horrible I’m closing both!

Disgusting to be charged for a «membership» that has no value when you only join one Color Run every blue moon or so. I read the fine print clearly when I sign up to pay an entry fee. What’s best in order to file a claim with ACT (Active Network) they make you wait on-​hold so as to discourage you from filing a claim. Then a rude customer service rep answers and says he has «other people to help»

This web site will steal your credit card number and charge it annually. I think they also changed their name to «Active Advantage» to try and avoid be Googled as just «Active Network.» They do not have any social media presence as it would look like this Unilocal page. There is NOTHING positive to say about a company with business practices like this.
I just noticed a charge on my credit card bill for $ 59.95 for «ACT Registration.» I contacted my credit card company and told them this was an unauthorized charge and also called the
company. It turns out that not only was I charged this year, I was also charged last year for a membership to

The company representatives told me that I must have hit the button for a «free trial membership» and the fine print states that you will be registered for
unless you cancel.
Don’t think so, as I never do these «free» trials for exactly this reason. This is fraud, clear and simple. They keep getting away with this theft because when most people get their money refunded, they are done fighting it. We need to report them to AGs in each state and keep up the steady beat up online to raise awareness of these scammers.

This company is total scum. It’s bewildering to me how they continue to carry on business.
Try Googling «Active[dot]com membership» and Google helpfully suggests «Active[dot]com membership scam» as a search term.
Be very cautious while registering for a race or you will be unknowingly signed up for their $ 64.95 membership program. I recommend using a prepaid credit card. Help your friends out by giving them a heads up.
It’s a shame that good organizations are working with this rotten company.

Allow me to echo all the negative reviews about their «premium membership program». If you sign up for a race and «click through» without turning on your fraud detector, you’ll end up signing up for a 1-​year membership; the current annual rate is $ 64.95. These people know that the public is resentful — phone them and you’ll get a phone tree with a special option («click 2») if you’re calling about a $ 64.95 charge on your bill. They don’t care because they swindle a sufficient number of people that they come out ahead.
When I first had a charge like this on my credit card, I sent them email as follows:
«I do not accept the charge of $ 64.95 on my credit card for «a Full Year of
Savings on Activities, Gear and Training».
«CANCEL NOW.
«You guys are scammers and thieves.
«How dare you.»
The charge was canceled, but then it came back again the next time that we registered. (You may ask how we made the same mistake twice. The answer is that the registrant is related to but not identical to the person who made the first complaint.)
SCUM SCUM SCUM Just thinking about them makes me want to take a shower. I won’t, though, because of the drought.
