Ace Tire Centers

Guys, I never made it back to this place to use my lifetime alignment checkups because on the three different occasions that I’ve called (off peak times, mind you) always estimated that it would be a 2−3hour wait for an alignment! The reality is they sold me on the 89.99 lifetime alignment crap and made it really difficult for me to use it. Skip this place.

I used to go here all the time ehen dennis was the geneal manager and ever since new management took over ive had terrible experiences going there. If you look at all the recent reviews they all say the same thing. I went in for a simple job and some money hungry mechanics write you up a 1000 $ estimate and tell you how crappy your car is. I got a quote about 6you months ago for 384 $, the same job by the new staff was 726 $. What a joke! And charging 15 $ to fix a flat tire for a repeating customer who just spent 900 $ at your store! Woman beware of their scams, i overheard some shady scenarios when i was waiting for my car.

They sell cheap oil change packages via ReaderCity Deals or UT, etc to get you in the door, then lie that you need other services. I brought my car and truck in for 3 oil changes and every time they they tried to sell me hundreds even $ 1000+ worth of repairs. One example is they told and ‘showed’ me my front brake that they said was so bad it shouldn’t even be driven one more time before it gets fixed. they said ‘it’s not safe’.
I saw through their tactic and it’s been months and I still haven’t had a problem with them.

ALL SD locations are CLOSED, DONE, OVER. Go ahead and call any of the four. No answer no voice mail.
If you have a valid UT coupon like I do, (expires July 2014) contact UT DEALS customer service and demand a refund. My voucher was for a front end alignment.
I’ll update this post to let you know if UT Deals refunds me the full amount $ 29.95.

UT Deals Customer Service extremely responsive! Since my voucher was not redeemed and still within the valid time frame im going to get a full credit back to the card I used to purchase the «Deal» I’ll update this post again when the credit hits my account.

They are closed!!! How could I tell Unilocal n costumers about that? I came here to do my alignment that they didn’t do last time I came (2 weeks a go). But they did made me a credit card n ruined my credit that I was building since I started having my social security number an year a go!

Been here a few times, got new tires and free rotations even for the ones I didn’t get there. I came in near closing and one of the guy says he’ll do my car for the last one.
Last oil changed I got I was out of there in half an hour on their less busy days.

I bought a new truck and my mechanic told me i need a new tire so i went to ace tires. When they were putting the tire on (which took 2 hours) they told me my suspension needed work and that the new car i bought had lots of problem and it was about 800 dollars to fix so i had the work done (mainly because the scared the living shit out of me). later i got a call saying they would give me a deal on 5 NEW tires (new spare included) so i said why not new tires never hurt anyone. the grand total was 1200 dollars. A Month later i get a flat and as the roadside assistance guy is replacing the tire he says be careful with this spare its really worn!!!
I was really pissed they told me they were giving me 5 NEW tires but actually gave me a crappy spare… but wait it doesnt stop there as i was getting the tire fixed they gave me a coupon for a free oil change so i said ok ill bite go ahead change my oil
upon completion of the oil change they told me i needed another 400 dollars worth of work done on my car for a coolant leak. At this point im tapped out because of the previous repairs. the guy tells me dont worry its not a serious problem we topped off your coolant and it should be fine until you can save up money to have it fixed because the leak isnt severe. A few days later my car overheats, has no coolant in it AT ALL and the radiator takes like a gallon and ahalf of water!!!
I take the car to my mechanic (that i trust) and he says that there is no way that there was coolant put in the car less than a week ago because the leak isnt that severe based on the pressure test he did and he fix the problem for less than 200
I wont return and i would suggest you find a mechanic you can trust because they arent it

Great customer service and professional.
Talked with Matt and he worked with me to match a competitor. I called three other people in the area and they were by far the best up front with the apparently lost art of customer service.
Came in a week later and mentioned our conversation and got my services done at the price he quoted over the phone, and don’t take much time at all considering I was a walk-​in and am hour before they closed. Will def consider for future repairs.

Mediocre. Took 3 hours for an oil change and tire rotation. Some items they found I’m sure are needed, others I am confident are up sells. Nothing better or worse about this place than the average oil change place in my opinion.

I used to think that Ace Tire Center was a great place. I go here all the time. But ever since the one Mexican guy started working get it all change. All he did was to make me very uncomportable. He’s trying so hard to sell me tires everytime. Today I went in for a tire pressure light and found out that there’s a small nail on my front tire. He said they cannot touch it since I need new tires he said its a company policy. Hm mm??? Seriously? I’ve never heard of that before, and he said my tire is worn to the wear bar. I’m not blind dude! Its not even that close but he insisted anyway. So I left and went to Convoy Tires instead and did it for me with no problem, no pressure and hassle free. I’m actually thinking about replacing all my tires here now. Ace Tire Center just lost another customer.
I recommend going to «Convoy Tires «instead for a tire replacement its a one man army kind of business. The guy is really old, but he is very honest and nice.
For any fluid changes or maintenance I recommend «Ray Frey «. Its a family business, they are also very honest, and they will not put any pressure on you.

Amazing service and support! I got a flat tire on my way to work today, and not having a spare, I had to get my car towed. The AAA guy that helped me recommended this place to me and I have to say I am very thankful he did!
This place is great! The gentlemen at Ace Tire Center were really nice and patched up my tire for free! They had me out in 15 mins. I will definitely be back if I ever need to.

I’ll cut to the chase: I scheduled an appointment to use an online coupon. The guy who answered the phone asked me car type and appointment was made. The location was 20 minutes away and when I get there the same guy asked me the car type again and then looks at the coupon. He points out my car is «exotic» which he knew the whole time and would cost more. I agree to the increase in price as I felt they still gave a deal and I didn’t want to drive again. The visit was to take 1.5 hours.
I return to the shop and the work was still not completed and wasn’t going to be until I had been there for 3 hours. They tried to up-​sale me on other stuff but that wasn’t a biggie. Interesting enough the same credit card (which I don’t use often) was compromised illegally later on that night. Coincidence? I’ll let you decide. Just be aware.

Very pleased with the service I received here for both an AC recharge & filter change and multiple oil changes. The gentlemen at the customer service counter are kind and take the time to explain services provided and any recommended future services. I have not felt overcharged (and I know I haven’t due to extensive Google searches!).
As a lady, I do feel comfortable going to Ace Tire Center for my car service needs— that says something!

I like ace tires. But the service in the convoy location seriously needs to speed up there service. I waited for only 1 group ahead of me and I had came in 3pm on a Monday assumingly it would not be busy and I am still currently still here for another hour to just change my 2 rear tires? How many techs are on the floor right now. I see cars on the lift but I doubt there being worked on. I should be in and out of a tire shop within an hour tops! Especially for 2 freakin tires!!!
I typically like the poway location great for the north inland location. Now I gotta drive all the way here to a much ‘busier’ shop.

Thanks for making my Monday more annoying than it should be.

10/​04/​2013 — Went to Ace Tire for 4 new tires on my car, everything seemed well. I received a call a couple of hours later stating that I needed some additional work and should call them. Upon calling was told that I needed struts, ball joints and rear brakes and cylinders. Funny thing, my mechanic had only done my ball joints a few months earlier, so told Ace to do what I wanted and I would take the car to my mechanic. I picked up my car and drove directly to my guy who advised me that I did not need anything that they had told me.
Ace Tire had told me I needed over $ 2,000 worth of work, of which I needed none of it! This is disgraceful! How dare you try to rip people off, especially nowadays! I will never set foot and will make it my M.O. to make sure everyone I know will not set foot in this place of business.

My experience with Ace tires was mediocre (7÷5÷13 ~12pm to 3pm). I first requested an online quote for tires and Nick, corporate guy, was very fast with response. He responded immediately via email with a quote. He walked me through many many options of new tires for my new wheels as I was very picky. I was impressed with his service regarding tire sales, that I referred a friend since he is very dedicated to getting what his customer wants. I was then sent to Kearny Mesa Ace Tires to complete transaction.
Service Used: Buying Tires
Purchased Hankook V12 245÷40÷18 for Brand new Enkei RPF1 on 2004 Subaru WRX.
Pros:
1. Easy quote and easy to deal with
2. Responsive to questions
3. Reasonable priced Tires
4. Lifetime alignment w/​$ 10 deductible each time
5. Employee Matt is a cool laid back manager
6. They pick up the phone
Cons:
1. Tiny knicks near lug hole on my brand new wheels from lug key accidentally tapping wheels
2. Workers skill mechanic knowledge ranges WIDELY.
3. Were not knowledgable of camber adjustment using eccentric bolt on strut housing. Pretty common stuff for adjusting camber. Car is slightly lowered on Factory STI Pinks springs. Not an aggressive drop.
4. Employee Jr (appeared to be Mgr asst) could use some Customer Service retraining, overheard him yelling at Customer via telephone, gives off a non-​customer oriented demeanor. Who knows, maybe he’ll be nice to you.
5. Over-​torqued my wheels big time. Subaru recommends 65lbs. I do 80lbs. It was probably at 100lbs+. Found this out today (7÷9÷13) when removing my wheels to adjust my camber at home. My wheels were tight!
6. Slow, took 3 hours for everything

Would I use again? Probably for buying tires, mounting/​balance, and that lifetime alignment. I’ll be installing new wheels with new tires to my car at home!

Our first experience with Ace was very positive. We went in for new front tires on my car and an alignment. Service was fast, friendly, and the person working even gave us a $ 25 discount for a future visit.
Next visit was for brakes on my boyfriend’s car. They replaced the front brakes but after we picked the car up he noticed that the car was vibrating substantially when he would brake. Took the car back in, was told rotors were warped so we replaced those. Problem continued so he took it back. Was told nothing was wrong but he needed a new steering column. Problem continued so he took it somewhere else for a second opinion. Long story short — brakes and rotors were warped. When he took his car back to have the brakes fixed under the «warranty» he was basically told they weren’t covered. We’re not even sure at this point if they replaced his brakes and rotors. The fact they wouldn’t make this right is the worst part.
Fast forward to today: my boyfriend noticed my brand new tires they replaced were wearing thin already. Since they are well within the «warranty» he took my car in to have the tires replaced. Junior, who by the way is a complete jerk, told him I needed new ball joints and my tires are not covered since that is the issue and also because we did not have our tires rotated at their shop (but we did have the alignment and rotation done there and elsewhere). 1) why did they not discover this and fix it at the time we replaced our tires; 2) how can they claim to have warranties they never honor; 3) they have the nerve to BLAME US for any issues when it is their shop that is not communicating issues
This place is AWFUL and Junior is the worst customer service ever. Side story: Junior asked my boyfriend about his car since they had recommended different services (at ridiculous rates) and refused to fix his brakes and their shoddy workmanship. My boyfriend told him the car basically died and he is selling it for scrap. Junior laughed in his face and told him he’d never get what he wants.

Well this a two part review. Part one: had new tires & alignment done on my daughter’s car about 1 month ago. Tires were good price, but they called me and asked if I wanted oil change & air filter change. I had just had the oil changed about one month earlier and knew I could change my own air filter no prob and way cheaper. Just told them to only put tires on and do alignment (had originally purchased lifetime alignment last year). Well, the problem started there… After picking up the vehicle, stopped to pick up an air filter at auto parts store on convoy and driving about 3 miles home. On the drive home, noticed a STRONG oil smell.
Getting home, popped hood to place new air filter and found oil splattered all over engine and oil cap missing!!! Apparently they were planning on changing my oil before even getting approval and when I declined, they «forgot» to replace my oil cap! Immediately called them and spoke with Matt, the manager, who was very apologetic and told me to bring the car right back and they would check it out and replace the cap.
Needless to say I was furious!
Returning to Ace I was greeted by «Junior» a sales guy behind desk who proceeded to attempt to BLAME ME or the people who changed my oil last time for leaving the cap off! The amount of oil lost was clearly fresh and from my short ride home! Had I not popped the hood when I got home to replace the air filter, my engine would have been ruined! Even worse, my daughter’s safety would have been compromised by driving with oil spattered on engine (fire) or the engine seizing while she drove!
Matt, the manager, took over the situation and admitted that the shop had made an error by removing the cap and not replacing it when I declined the oil change. Matt was accommodating and very sorry and wanting to make amends for the error. They steam cleaned the oil off the engine & ordered a new cap that was delivered while we were talking.
Matt offered to do a free service to regain my confidence back in the shop. Was a difficult sell, but eventually they did do a tune up on my car about a month later for a very discounted price. Not «free» but still inexpensive.
I can honestly say that Matt did everything possible to regain a customer and was sincerely sorry for the mistake. I feel that «Junior» could use some customer service skills and could be more respectful to customers AND his manager!
I will use Ace for my tires and alignment, since I’m already committed to the life time alignment plan. As for other services, that’s pretty grey zone… Will Definitely only deal with Matt, who doesn’t seem as shady as «Junior».

I was in San Diego for the weekend, and it was the day I had to go home, and I got a nail in my tire. I have run flats, by the way. I went to 7 different tire places, and they all refused to patch my tire AND none of them carried the type of tire I had. I was really frustrated, but Jr. and Christian from Ace helped me out by patching up my tire for FREE just so I could at least get home safely. These guys were super nice and friendly. They had the best customer service I’ve ever received. The other places on Convoy didn’t help at all.
Ace is the best tire place in that area! Recommended for sure.
