Over the course of 4 years Shawn helped me rent my house several times and finally sell it, all from opposite coasts. His knowledge and marketing enabled me to only have my house vacant for a total of 6 weeks in that 4 year period. Living on the east coast made it critical to work with someone I could trust to have my best interests in mind, and Shawn did it all. Added to that, the convenience of having all of the paperwork handled via docusign made everything go quickly and smoothly. Just closed on our first house thanks to Academy Properties! Shawn and Kelly were the ultimate agents to have on our side as complete real estate newbies. From crawling under the house to point out foundation characteristics to keep an eye on, to calculating window-​replacement timelines and costs, to explaining potential changes in the neighborhood that could affect the value, they demonstrated that they wanted us to learn and understand the market beyond our staterter-​home wishlist. Now we are not only excited about our great house and neighborhood, but confident in our ability to handle any of the up’s and down’s of home-​ownership that the future may bring. Also, on a convenience note, they email almost all documents via DocuSign which was AMAZING– we were literally able to sign everything on our phones. It was so convenient especially with at least one of us out of town or in the field throughout most of the escrow process.
Liz and Laura handled our financing and got us a great rate with a big chunk of cash towards closing costs. Even the notary at closing was shocked to see the deal we were getting. I thought using a VA loan would be a nightmare of bureaucratic paperwork but Liz and Laura made the process so streamlined.
Overall I don’t think we could be happier with our home, financing, and total experience than we are now after working with the Academy Properties team.
