I had a pendant with an unusual chain. It was missing a link and needed to be repaired. I didn’t want to buy a new chain because this one was so unique. I located a jeweler who worked on antique jewelry. He was in a larger town near where I lived. I went to his store and was amazed at some of the jewelry in his shop. A lot of it had been purchased from estate sales. I looked and looked and looked! It was wonderful! It was a treat to just visit his store. He looked over the pendant chain and said it couldn’t be fixed but what a surprise when he looked around for a while and come up with a chain just like mine! He remembered buying it a few months ago at an estate sale. The cost, of course, was a lot more than I would have paid to have the chain fixed if it had been a possibility. With tax, it was $ 560. because the chain was 10K gold. I thought it over and decided that maybe I would just buy a new chain, even though it wouldn’t be the same.

Came here based on all the great Unilocal reviews, and glad I did. Just needed a new watch battery, and the owner, Chris Jacobs, got it replaced in just 5 minutes and for just $ 15. Can’t beat that! They have nice jewelry and watch repair, too. Thanks, Chris!

While I can’t speak to anything more than the great selection of beautiful and unique items in the store and Chris’ ability to size any watch (Rolex, Patek, etc.) it is in both of those arenas in which this store and her owner/​operator excel.
You might be thinking that it’s easy to get a more expensive watch sized. It is not. «Jewelers» at the mall are not jewelers but peddlers of mundane watch brands and low quality diamonds. They have no clue how to size a quality watch. They will tell you they can size it but it will be $ 25-​$ 35 and they will need to take it in the back for an hour. NO THANK YOU!
Chris will size any watch right in front of you in minutes and for only $ 10.
So if you are in need of watch service for your fine time piece, save yourself the headache, come see Chris.

We recently did business with Chris at A.L. Jacobs, selling some unused gold and misc. jewelry. The whole process was easy, and Chris explained the goings-​on. Yep, there really is an acid test! Great place for a jewelry appraisal! Mr Jacobs was very courteous and professional. I took my Cartier and Breitling watches to him as well as my fiancé’s engagement ring and he was prompt and friendly and his appraisals were very accurate and generous. Personalized service. Local, family-​owned company. I came in for a watch battery replacement and the gentleman did it on the spot. So friendly and efficient! They are also in an awesome location in Liberty Station.

Chris, the owner, is a great guy and a consummate professional. I had two rings cleaned, one watch clasp fixed, and another watch battery replaced, all within 10 minutes. I will not go anywhere else. This store came on recommendation from a friend, and I owe that friend a beer or two.

I took a diamond ring in to be appraised so I could have two different appraisal opinions — one from my usual appraiser, and another from someone I didn’t know at all, but who was recommended to me. It was a big purchase and since the stone was uncerted we wanted two opinions. My experience here taught me two things:
1. My usual appraiser is the very best and there is never again a need to go to anyone else for a ‘second opinion’, and
2. You should never ever use an appraiser who also sells jewelery because it is an obvious conflict of interest, no matter how «above board» that person might appear… at first.
What happened? I had brought in an antique stone and it’s common for antique stones to have light to severe chipping around the outer edges due to being, duh, old! This particular stone has the most minor — I mean can’t see it with the naked eye — chipping. So minor it still graded out to a VVS grade which is pretty darn good! During the entire appraisal process this guy kept making disparaging remarks about my stone, why it wasn’t good quality, that the «extreme chipping» was going to increase over time and make it unwearable, etc. etc. etc. I just sat there and either said nothing or at times simply said I really liked the stone and was very aware of the chips, which I felt were quite minor given the age of the stone. After he was finished appraising the stone he began trying to convince me to return this stone and buy a certed diamond from him because he was having a big moving sale (from his old location), blah blah blah, whatever! I was so turned off by this bait and switch nonsense that I paid him for the appraisal and left quickly. I actually regret paying him for the appraisal since I have no trust in him. I will never use this guy for appraisals because I don’t think he does appraisals with any integrity. Rather, he’ll diss your piece and try to sell you something from his inventory instead. And that to me, translates into someone I also cannot buy from.

I made an appointment to have my engagement ring appraised & re-​sized. I was Extremely pleased with the services here! Chris was very thorough in the appraisal and the ring now fits perfectly! They told me it would probably take about a week to have the ring back for the resizing, but I got a call 2 days later to come pick up my sparkly ring!
The shop in Liberty Station is pretty small, but their jewelry is beautiful. They have a nice selection of Cortez Pearls and I got a little bit of an education on the differences in Pearls today!
He also mentioned to me that for Christmas they’re running a pretty interesting promotion. If you buy something between Nov 19-​Dec 24^th and it rains on New Year’s Day morning … You get your money back and you can keep what you bought. *cough* Ex-​squeeze me?! That’s right! Money back baby if it rains! So buy a pretty something for your honey and do a rain dance!

I recently purchased a diamond pendant at Jacobs. The quality and workmanship are both superior. The killer price sealed the deal. I’m very happy with the service and the prices.

i went in lookin for watches… they didnt have a very good selection. they had all kinds of other shiny sparkely thangs, that were fun to look at, and i suppose if i was a gal, i would have liked to look at them even more. but alas, God made me a dude, so after i didnt see any cool lookin watches, i was out the door.
