Josh was great to work with in the beginning. He came out to my place, met with my designers (I had to pay for their time), who showed him the materials that were chosen and then we agreed on a price. He did raise concerns about the tile selected for our master shower as there were no finishing pieces. He said he would take a sample and run some tests. A month goes by. I am still waiting for a contract to sign (he was having computer problems) and the results of his test. Six weeks later, no test results and a contract that did not match our verbal agreement six weeks prior. When I questioned Josh about the differences in the contract and our prior agreement, he complained that he originally bidded too low, but he would stick to the original agreement. Everytime we talked he looked for ways to add-​on additional costs. Things like the shelf in the hall bath that was originally no problem became an add-​on. Oh by the way, what are your results of the test. Well he never did it. At this point I had two month invested in Josh and SG Tile. I didn’t want to start the bidding process over again, so we decided to help him by selecting a material that was easier to work with. Instead of him having to send out porcelain tiles to be miter cut on a water jet, all he had to do was install same sized marble tiles that could be polished on site. Josh’s response to our compromise to use a material that was easier to work with was to raise the price, by 10%. It was at this point where I said no more.
The price of our project increased by 20% between Josh’s first price and his final one. This translated to close to $ 3k in up charges when we have been doing all of the compromising. I would hate to see the additional charges if we ran into problems mid-​project or wanted to make a change. This is straight up bad business. It is dishonest and predatory.

We remodeled our kitchen this past summer. Second Generation Tile installed our backsplash. He was great to work with. He was extremely patient with me while I was trying to decide what I wanted. Once the work started he was always checking in to be sure he fully understood what we wanted. They showed up on time and finished the job when they said they would. The finished product looks amazing. Josh’s crew was friendly, professional and left the jobsite as clean if not cleaner than it was prior.

We had a kitchen tile backsplash installed by Second Generation, and we were very pleased with the workmanship and the entire process of working with Josh.
Josh made suggestions and diplomatically talked me out of design ideas I had that in retrospect would have been a bad decision. So I am very grateful for that, and love the way the backsplash turned out.
Some of the grouting shrunk after installation, which is normal, and Josh sent the workers back without any questioning to fix it.
It was also really easy to communicate with Josh via email, and he was very responsive.
I highly recommend Second Generation and would definitely work with them again.

I hired Josh at Second Generation Tile this past summer to retile my guest bathroom (tub surround and floor). I planned on using expensive marble and wanted to ensure I was working with a true professional. I can’t tell you how happy I was to work with Josh and his crew, especially Raul and Francisco who were the primary workers on my job. These people are artisans, not just tile setters, and they care about dong a beautiful job for you. Raul would ask me a lot a questions before I left for work and we would go over how the tile would lay out before he did it — I really appreciated that attention to detail. I would highly recommend Josh and Second Generation Tile for your next tile project. You won’t be sorry.

Second Generation Tile did the tile work on 2 new bathrooms as well as a new fireplace fascia which was completed in June of 2009. I forgot to write a review but figured better late than never. The tile design in both bathroom was very technical. Josh made certain the job was done to the right and when finished, it is a work of art.

We had an excellent experience with Josh and his crew. We had our front stairs tiled and it was not an easy job — lots of detail work. But we knew Josh could do it because he had done a very sophisticated tile detail job for a friend’s kitchen and had torn it out once to put it in perfectly. Josh made sure our old concrete stairs were scraped of layers of old paint and he consulted with a concrete contractor to make sure there were no leaks. The first tiles ordered were the wrong color and Josh and the store sent them back, no problem. We ordered a new set and they were perfect. Our stairs are beautiful. People in the neighborhood come by and ring our doorbell to tell us how great they look, and we see people taking pictures of them. We are saving up for our next tile job with Josh and his crew. He is professional, easy to work with, and a perfectionist.

I was very pleased with my experience with Second Generation Tile and Stone. Mine was a «smaller» tile job, and that is often the most difficult to even get a return phone call about. Josh Davis not only returned my phone call promptly, but scheduled the work in a timely manner. The installers were friendly, courteous and did beautiful work. We have used 2^nd Generation to install tile flooring, fireplace and kitchen backsplash. Josh was dedicated to ensuring that we were pleased with the end result. He visited the site often and his workers were very courteous, patient in answering any questions and were obviously talented and experienced. Josh and his crew did a great job installing limestone and glass tile around my fireplace. It wasn’t a very big job, but Josh gave it as much attention as a palace and they did a first rate job. What really stood out was how well Josh communicated and followed through. They did what they said they would, when they said they would.

I recently contracted with Second Generation to remove a rug and tile a finished basement in a rental house that I own. They started work immediately, did a fantastic job and finished promptly. They made lots of helpful suggestions along the way as well. Josh is a great communicator, and returns emails and voicemails immediately. He kept me in the loop on any necessary changes and options and was a great guy to work with overall. Highly recommended!

I contracted with SG tile to install Slate for a walkway and porch, Marble for a fireplace and exterior ledger stone wainscoting. After getting bids from several established companies as well as an unlicensed independent installer, I decided that SG tile would be the best value that would provide the highest probability of meeting my expectations. Before and during the work phase the attention to detail, communication of options, recommendations and detail enhancements were a big help to get me to the finished look I had envisioned. Appointments were always promptly on time and the start /​finish date was as promised. It’s always been my opinion that a wholly positive review is worthless but, in SG Tile’s case, I really cannot think of any negatives.

When I was describing what I was imagining I wanted for my home, he made sure he understood every last detail before starting any work.
