Bob is very professional, very knowledgeable, and trustworthy. He has helped us with several different issues over the years related to our built-​in exterior gas grill. Would recommend Astro without reservation.

Had a recent dishwasher recall from Bosch and Astro is 1 of 2 recommended authorized service companies to call from Bosch for my area. Called Bob at Astro, provided all recall info. He ordered the parts and scheduled appointment in no time. On appointment day (today) Bob called to confirm time, showed up promptly and did the recall work quickly with no issues. Definitely a «highly recommend» from me for anyone reading this. He is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Plus I got to learn a few things about dishwasher and detergent amount from him while he was here. Also learned that he services BlueStar range as well so I will be calling him when I need my range serviced. Thanks Bob!

Bob saved the day. Our European brand Smeg oven went out and Bob was the only one in the area knowledgable about this brand. He promptly returned my calls and was very flexible in scheduling a time to come over and do his repair. I’m glad he’s in the business.

Bob is great. Booking an appointment with him was easy and fast. He arrived on time, and was courteous. He looked at our old Fisher & Paykel washing machine and told us the repair cost for the main bearing wasn’t worth it. His honest opinion saved us a lot of trouble and money. Thank you, Bob! We will definitely call you in the future.

I’ve used Bob a couple of times over the past few years to keep a 12 year old Fisher Paykel dishwasher running. He has always returned calls within a business day and arrives on-​time during his service window. Considering the frequency we use our dishwasher, and thanks to Bob, I’m glad to still have it running in great condition after all of these years.

Bob is great! He schedules us in right away and really knows what he’s doing. We’ve used him twice now and are very happy with the service. Not only did he repair our dish washer but he also gave us tips on how we might avoid future problems. He clearly explains what he needs to do and for this particular issue he ended up coming to our house two times (he needed to order a part) but he only charged us for the original service call and the part. I highly recommend him and wouldn’t hesitate to call him again.

Bob was flexible in setting up a time to meet and arrived as planned. The issue with our dishwasher fixed in a half hour. Great, speedy service. Thanks Bob! He also provided some helpful tips about our type of washer and how to avoid other issues going forward.

I will just say that on my two appliances I was told that I needed a expensive repair, reorder a motor (which was new 6 months ago) .or buy a new appliance. The costs on each of these would have been $ 2000.00 plus. On one occasion a call to the tech person and the other a new repair person resulted in a VERY minor fix. The last being a $ 50.00 part. I did also pay the $ 135.00 service fee and 60.00 of labor just to be told this information. I now have a new repair man.

I’ve used Bob for the last 10+ years, referred to me by Fisher Paykel initially. We had several bad years with Fisher Paykel, Bob did the warranty work, then they replaced the entire unit. Then Bob, by then a frequent visitor to our house, suggested a «fix» that was not by the book, but in his experienced really worked. And it did. Service calls dropped considerably. Always had great tips, suggestions. And yesterday when I called with a problem, he diagnosed and walked me through a fix over the phone. Worked like a charm.
Pretty stunned by the negative reviews. Yeah, he’s in heavy demand, and sometimes have to wait awhile to get him to come out, but it’s going to be done right.
I’m sticking with Bob.

Bob arrived ontime, fixed quickly, repair cost was more than reasonable. I’d call him again.

I found Bob through a referral. I had a pretty routine repair, (fault of my own),
and Bob got the part, came back and put it in pronto. The real value of the service wasn’t just the routine repair. My wife and I had done a remodel of the house and moved up to a Bosch dishwasher, washer and dryer. I got a real education on how to manage these new super efficient machines. Do your glasses get etched in your dishwasher so they’re cloudy? So did mine. He solved that. I not only found someone to fix the machines but also someone to teach me how to keep them running. Bob’s a keeper. Five Stars.

I called Bob to come handle a recall issue on my dishwasher. He was prompt in replying to me. He ordered the part and did the install and repair right before Christmas weekend which was a real blessing. Bob was on-​time, did the work quickly, and even fixed another minor issue while he was here, free of charge.

Bob is a lifesaver!!! One evening our dishwasher decided to empty water out of one of the hoses under the sink and created what seemed like a large pond in our kitchen. Our neighbor recommended Astro Appliance and I left a message that night.
Bob phone back the very next morning and was very polite and courteous. He was willing to work with when we would be available and was upfront with all the cost that could be accrued.
When he arrived he was just as polite and courteous as he was on the phone, in person. One look at the hose and Bob knew exactly what happened, a clog! He unclogged the hose and offered some advice on how to avoid the situation in the future.
I would gladly have Bob back at our house to repair any of our other appliances.

My dryer went out. Bob came out and diagnosed the problem, and called me with an estimate of over $ 600 including $ 135 for the diagnosis. I called the manufacturer (the dryer was not under warranty) and they gave me another repair service, Aloha Appliance Repair, who came out the same day, did the repair, and charged me $ 88 which was the cost of the part. The manufacturer picked up the labor which was one hour’s work at less than $ 100/​hour. Hmmmm…

We’ve been dealing with Bob for several years now for our oven and dishwasher issues. He’s consistently prompt, honest and efficient. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for right? He’s also great at recommending people as honest and efficient as himself for the appliances he doesn’t work on. I highly recommend him.

Bob is not easy to deal with — cranky on the phone and hard to schedule. The first time he totally missed the cause of the problem in the appliance and the second time he repaired it temporarily but left out a part. I’m amazed we paid him money for all the hassle.

I have used Bob for several dishwasher repairs. He is Dr. Dishwasher. I’m a mechanical engineer and there are repairs that I have done myself and then there are repairs where I call Dr. Dishwasher. If you listen to his voicemail, his specialty is working on elegant appliances. To me, that means a dishwasher that costs more that $ 1,000 to replace. He is quick, efficient and knows exactly how to repair your appliance at a moderate charge rate.

Bob is a no-​frills very knowledgeable get it done kind of guy. He knows his craft and knows his business. If you want the right guy to come out, diagnose and solve the problem on the first visit, he is your guy. Not cheap and charges by the ½ hour but a very good value. (Chatty housewives and house-​husbands beware, you can run up the tab ;-)

The start button on my dishwasher recently broke so I called Astro Appliance in San Carlos to fix it. Although they did not have the part in stock, they came to my house and took the broken one off so I could at least use my dishwasher while they waited for the part to come in (very nice of them). Two weeks later the part came in and he came back to replace it.
I have no problem with the work that he performed. The reason that I am giving them one star is that I feel I was totally overcharged for the amount of work involved. The part itself was $ 30 (no complaints, although it was a 1″ piece of plastic. he said he had to order it from Bosch), and it took him 4 minutes to install it.
Do you know what he charged me? $ 166!
This included a $ 75 «trip fee» plus $ 60 for the first 30 minutes of labor. I do not mind paying for labor, but he did not disclose when I spoke to him that it is $ 75 just to come to my house (which is about 1 mile away from his business address). And he said he could have charged me $ 75 for the first trip to my house too but he decided not to.
I abhor businesses that weasel their way into charging unreasonable «fees» to boost their bills. I think it is bad business, and I would not recommend to anyone to patronize Astro Appliance for that reason. At the very least, if you do decide to hire them, you will now have full knowledge of what he intends to charge you for before you call him.
