Marcos & Marcos, DDS

Another great visit with Dr. Anthony Marcos, my dentist (who I have been going to for the last five years.)
He is located in San Carlos and owns this place with his sister. I usually come in for regular cleaning but now I am here for invisaline. Here we go for another couple months of dentist visits but I always walk out of here feeling better about my dental hygiene.
Prices are fair, service is great, I highly recommend these folks for your dentist.

Hands-​down, this is the best dental care I’ve ever received and HIGHLY recommend them to all. I have been a patient of Dr. Anthony Marcos for 3+ years now. I would be what you’d call a «difficult» patient as I have a low tolerance for dental pain, and require hand-​holding and plenty of extra Novocaine.
I’m at the stage where much of my early dental work has to be revisited, so I am seen regularly, and for some complicated procedures. What I appreciate the most about this practice: Highly skilled dentists who are perfectionists, they use state of the art technology (making things faster, and with greater precision), professional and friendly office staff, flexible and accommodating schedules, and the catering to patients with special needs.
Just yesterday, I had to have an emergency crown replacement. I was seen right away, and they did the entire replacement in one sitting because they can make a crown on site. This was exceptional service, and today I am pain free.
I couldn’t be happier with my Dentist! Thanks Dr. Marcos!

Wow, that is all I can say. This is the BEST dentist and dental office I have ever gone too, and I have been to a lot of them.
You can tell that exceptional service and highly trained is a pre-​requisite to working for this office. I was recommended to Marcos and Marcos and I am singing praise for everyone there. The staff are all patient (with my many questions), thorough, and kind.
I have had my initial exam and replacement of a cracked crown. Firstly, they have amazing equipment, which they say has been around a while but none of my previous dentists invested in them. Dr. Anthony is very thorough with explaining the state of my teeth, his equipment provided very lifelike X-​rays and pictures to show me what we need to work on, and why. After the exam they seat you in a private room to discuss finances for all of the work, and you can move the priority based on your thoughts. Dr. Marcos also grouped work together, by the area the work needs done, to save me money. They offer payment plans and they take the care credit card, the card lets you pay off interest free based on the timeline you choose.
The replacement crown appointment was so efficient and painless. They play movies in the background and really make you feel very comfortable. They have the equipment in house to even make the crown right there. It was really neat to see Dr. Marcos design it for me and it fit like a glove as soon as he put it on.
I could go on and on. Thank you Dr. Marcos and staff, I sincerely appreciate all that you do.

I don’t often write reviews, but I feel obliged to share my experience because I did not feel comfortable with the medical advice I was given — the American Dental Association (ADA) even calls it «improper and unethical.»
First off, I have nothing bad to say about the actual clinic. The office is very clean and the staff and Dr. Marcos are all very nice and friendly. However, when I had my dental exam, one of the first things Dr. Marcos noticed was my amalgam filling (as known as a «silver» filling). He told me that it contains mercury (which is true) and recommended that I have it removed even though the filling itself was intact. He also went on to insinuate that I was continually getting exposure to mercury from it and it could cause autism in my future children.
After doing research, I learned that the ADA (for which Dr. Marcos is apart of) and FDA both have statements that amalgam fills are safe and you exactly get MORE mercury exposure during the process of removing the amalgam filling. There is no evidence linking amalgam fillings to autism. Moreover, the statement from the ADA «Principles of Ethics and Code of Conduct» reads:
«Based on current scientific data, the ADA has determined that the removal of amalgam restorations from the non-​allergic patient for the alleged purpose of removing toxic substances from the body, when such treatment is performed solely at the recommendation of the dentist, is improper and unethical.»
Needless to say, I went else where.

Holy blessed virgin mary of dentists. This place is amazing.
I had chipped my porcelain front tooth stupidly and rushed to make an appointment (as a first timer!) with Marcos & Marcos based off of a recommendation from my aunt who lives in the area. Not only were they able to fit me in within an hour of me calling, but the staff was super friendly and nice.
The doctor was so incredibly kind and helpful. And not to mention quick! I was in and out in less than 1.5 hours. Probably one of the best dentists visits I’ve ever had. So much so that I came home and wrote this review.

Dr Anthony not only broke his schedule to accommodate me for a tooth issue I was having, he took care of me and was very professional in taking care of me as well. It is always a truly exceptional experience as this dental office from the moment I greeted by the ladies at the front desk to the end. I highly recommend this office and the dental practice of Dr’s Marcos and Marcos!

Outstanding service. The staff is more attentive (taking notes, paying attention to details, and following up on specific requests) than any other dental office I’ve ever visited. I felt extremely well treated and cared for. The office is nicely appointed with all new equipment. The dentist is extremely knowledgable, and he and the rest of the staff go out of their way to keep the patient informed as to what they’re doing and why they’re doing it.
I would absolutely recommend this office — I will be back.

I have been a patient of Dr. C & have always loved going to this practice until now. Lost my insurance and my new one doesn’t kick in till Nov 1. My tooth cracked and part of my filling fell out. As a long time patient one would think they could work with you, but they won’t ! They obviously don’t care about their patients and I will be going to another dentist! Very upset And disapointed!

I wish there was a 6 star rating because Dr. Carliza Marcos deserves more than 5 stars.
She is the best. She’s calm, kind, gentle, thorough and makes sure you understand what she’s doing. If you’re nervous about seeing a dentist, she’s HIGHLY recommended. She’ll make you feel comfortable and will give you options.
Appointments are easy and the office is conveniently located. Her staff is second to none. They treat you like family.

This is a very nice office with a helpful and professional staff. Dr. Marcos was awesome with both my kids, who were afraid for their first visits! In addition to our being pleased with his kid-​friendly (and parent-​friendly) demeanor, we were impressed by the latest in dental field technology there.

As I was walking up to the office I was thinking to myself, «Wow, what a beautiful building, this place is going to be way too expensive for me.’
And while prices vary based on the kind of dental insurance a patient has, I was truly amazed at my quote. It seemed extremely affordable. And I don’t even have premium dental insurance.
Plus, Dr. A said he’d sand down a poorly fitted crown (done by another dentist) for free when I came in to get my cavities filled. He seemed like he really cared about the state of my gums and teeth and was sensitive to my need to stay on budget.
I said jokingly, «Now I get my free paraffin treatment on my nails?» to the assistant as she walked me out.
(I had read an article about Marcos & Marcos while I was waiting in their waiting room that mentions the paraffin treatment and talks about how they want their office to be spa-​like. The article also said Marcos & Marcos’ goal is to treat their patients the same way as they would family and friends. That’s why they call their waiting room a ‘living room.’ They want you to feel at home. It also mentioned the beautiful building they’re in. It’s a former garden apartment complex built in the 1930’s, which has been turned into a medical center of sorts.)
And the setting really is spa-​like, and the assistant said I could definitely get the paraffin treatment when I came in for the fillings – all I have to do is mention it. She said they don’t usually do those during initial consults because too much has to be covered in the short time.
Totally cool – I can’t wait for my free manicure while I get my cavities filled. I also really enjoyed the coffee machine they have. I love it when dr’s have them: It’s the kind that brews individual cups. They also have hot chocolate and a mini fridge filled with all kinds of cold drinks for people in the living room, i.e. waiting room. It’s a serve-​yourself drink station.
Regarding the person who said «seriously, they require new patients to schedule a meeting for the sole purpose of meeting about services,» I just wanted to say that my husband and I both did not have to have ‘a meeting about services’ during the initial consult.
I also read that a patient had come in for a Zoom whitening treatment but got a «bait and switch.» I think they were just practicing good dentistry, because anyone who has done a little research can tell you that teeth whitening sessions with light treatments do not work. The teeth only appear whiter because teeth look whiter when they become completely dry. The only thing that works is the gel trays or Crest white strips, or any strips or gels that have the essential whitening ingredient, carbamide peroxide.
Also, the pictures of the business don’t do it justice. It’s a beautiful, charming office.

I have love for all of my 32 teeth which is why I have been going to Dr. Marcos for TEN years. This is the longest relationship I have ever been in and for a damn good reason.
This dentist office is NOT convenient for me– I live in Oakland, work in San Francisco and will make the trek down to San Carlos for these guys. They are that awesome. I dont know anyone who likes going to the dentist… but I kinda do.
Let me break it down…
1. The space is beautiful. Super clean, welcoming, peaceful, no weird dentist office smell, no unpleasant sounds that make you anxious as you wait.
2. I love the people who work here. They feel like family or family friends who joke and tease and make sure I come and visit more often (I’m bad about getting in in a timely manner) but its not because they don’t send emails or postcards or call to remind me.
3. There are movies! Sometimes I have hella long treatments and being distracted by a good movie playing above me makes it go by so much quicker! But sometimes, I opt for a nap. Really. That’s how chill they make it for me.
4. Dr. C is the bomb-​diggity. Do people even say that anymore? I am one of people that goes through a whole lot of Lidocaine/​Novocaine because I guess my body just metabolizes it quickly– she always makes sure that I am comfortable. The minute I flinch she does what she has to do to ensure I am at ease. Dr. C works quickly so that she doesn’t have to drug me more than necessary. Although going to the dentist is typically a nerve– wrecking experience, I don’t experience that with her. Light hands, good jokes (I don’t know if Dr. A has better jokes but I’ll vote Dr. C since I am loyal), and comforting. And when you have to visit the dentist as often as I do, you want someone you can trust.
5. The Marcos’ are ridiculously comprehensive. My teeth have a 5 year plan… they have goals and everything. I know what needs to be done, in what order, how much, and when it should go down. My teeth are well taken care of…
So all in all, they are amazing at what they do. And as long as I have teeth, this is where they wanna go.

I have been going to Marcos & Marcos, DDS for close to 2 years and they have been taking care of my teeth very well. The office is very clean and pleasant to go to. They are always on time and do the job right. I hated that I had to wait 30 minimum at my previous dentist.
I would definitely recommend this practice.

I’ve been meaning to write a review of Marcos & Marcos DDS… It’s long over due. I’ve been a patient of Dr C for the past couple of years and just wished I could have made the decision to have her as my dentist sooner!!! On my first appt I was diagnosed with an infection due to my impacted wisdom teeth. Dr. Marcos laid out a comprehensive plan that today I now have healthy teeth and gums!!! My wife, a nurse, was impressed with the level of attention and care that Dr. Marcos provided that she decided to switch dentists and is now a patient of Dr. Marcos as well and we have never looked backed! If you’re in need of thorough and caring dentist I highly recommend you make an appointment with Marcos & Marcos. From the entire staff to the level of care Marcos and Marcos provide you won’t be disappointed!

I had an appointment with Dr. Marcos for getting their whitening treatment and a consult on how to use it. I even called to make sure that’s what the appointment was for. When I got there, they did a bait and switch on me and did a bunch of x-​rays and then tried to upcharge me 2500 for a bunch of work they supposedly said I needed. I didn’t believe them because I had had all that work done by another dentist just a year and a half earlier. Having x-​rays wasn’t what my appointments was even for. Had I known that’s what they were going to do, I wouldn’t have even made the appointment. They also charged me through the nose for the x-​rays as well.
I won’t be back and also canceled all future appointments I had. One appointment I had set up was for 8,000 for porcelain veneers. Apparently that wasn’t enough money for Dr. Marcos; had to try to squeeze the last 2500 out of me. I almost got the feeling they were desperate for the business.
As someone else said, it was like going to a used car salesman where they get you in that room and the try to hit you with the «sale job.»
I want to work with honest people.

I’ve been going to Dr Carliza for 4 years. My wife has as well. I don’t personally need the office to feel like a spa but I’ve grown to like the extra touches. We’re very happy with the services and the flexibility afforded to patients, I tend to visit around my work schedule and that’s not predictable. My wife really likes the follow up call Dr Carliza makes each evening after a visit.
I’m not a fan of reviewing doctors i’m still frequenting but she’s great. It’s not a cheap office, but we think the convenience and personal attention makes it worth it.

I really feel that this is a top notch dentist office. (this is a long review)
We moved into the area needing a dentist, as one does after relocating, and read the all the glowing reviews for *several* dentists on the peninsula. Truth be told, I chose this one because the other ones didn’t return my call.
I had an immediate need for a dentist and was able to get in to see Dr. Carliza and even before a standard new patient exam, she put a temporary medicated filling in and then scheduled the other exams. I’ve had several experiences with others in the medical profession that will not see you as an emergency patient without a consult first. I’m so glad it wasn’t the case here.
Since then, myself and my 3 kids have been in *many* times (partially due to us not having insurance until now and being nearly a year since seeing a dentist) and everyone has been super friendly. They will call if there is an earlier opening and try to schedule appts around my kids and my schedule.
It may seem like there is a lot of work that is found that needs to be done, but I never received any pressure to get things done, in fact in some cases I was the one requesting things done. I appreciate that if Dr. C finds, upon removing a filling or crown or such, that something doesn’t need to be done – she doesn’t do it. The office is definitely state of the art, but her emphasis is on prevention so the high-​techness helps her to stop a potential problem before it becomes a problem, usually with a sealant, not a drill. You can see with the x-​rays and the camera where the problem is, not just take her word for it.
Its also a nice touch that she’ll call you after you’re home and the numbness wears off to see how you are doing. She also shares her cell phone with you in case you need her after hours.
The crowns while you wait are awesome, no second appt needed, yay! And its refreshing that no amalgam is used in the office.
She is great with my kids, including my 4 year old who needed a filling – I think it hurt Dr. C more than it did my daughter; my daughter was just annoyed when she couldn’t see the movie screen, lol.
I really feel like she cares about her patients and I know she thanks me for personally funding her son’s braces ;)

Best. Dentist. Ever.
Had some cavities about 6 months ago. They of course had to poke me with needles for the numbing agent, BUT: I couldn’t even feel the needles.
Dentists seems to do this thing where they wiggle the needle to make sure that stuff really numbs your nerves well. BUT: M&M wiggled the tissue while keeping the needle stationary and it fools your jaw into only feeling the tissue wiggling — not the needle. For all the other cool tech they have there — this was the best thing.
