I purchased a windup clock that turned out to be junk. The key was broken and the insides stripped so the time could not be set. The owner would not give a refund; she offered store credit.
The owner was defensive. Customer service was not good.
If buying something at this store, make sure the item works, if you need it to. Also make sure it is authentic.

Antiques Then & Now boasts a massive show room housing many, different vendors. The owners, a charming couple from New York, are friendly and no B.S. & I particularly like that.
¼ of the business showcases a wide variety of vintage, upright & mantel clocks. Clock repairs and maintenance services are also offered. I’ve recently taken in an old kitchen clock that had a ‘bum ticker’ (har-​har) for repairs and all went smoothly.
Antiques Then & Now, located on Industrial Rd, is found in the industrial area of San Carlos, unsurprisingly, so all the charm you’re seeking is to be found within the antiques shop and not much outside of it.

While waiting for a pleated shade repair across the street (see my review on AIM Drapery and Windows), I meandered over to do some enjoyable browsing at Antiques Then & Now. I ended up buying a not-​so-​vintage Hawaiian style Disney shirt for my husband. It’s great and he loves it. But I truly loved looking at old things that reminded me of relatives long gone. If nothing else, it’s jolting to remember how people lived not that long ago with table linens and napkins that had to be carefully cleaned and pressed, not to mention the clothing, big ashtrays, big furniture, and dishes that had to be hand-​washed. It was great seeing so many first-​edition books, ceramic pieces, clocks, phonographs, toys, and much more. It’s good to go in an antique store now and then (no pun intended), and this one is certainly one to enjoy.

Debbie, Susan, Eileen were all so helpful. I was able to find some great items. They were so kind and friendly. I will definitely go back!

This place is great. I frequently walk over to kill my lunch breaks when I’m working in San Carlos.
There is so much stuff that I never get bored. I can easily spend an entire lunch in one nook or corner, going thru all the little things. There really is something for everyone.
I see some reviewers claim the staff is rude but that has never been my experience, and I come here quite often and have purchased a few items.

I live in San Francisco & the drive was well worth it! I saw an ad on Craigslist & was able to call to pay for the piece over the phone. When I arrived, I continued to shop & bought a few more pieces. The women were very nice, inventory was perfect for the shabby chic items I wanted & the prices were great! I’ll be coming here again! Thank you so much! I enjoy supporting small businesses!

I love this place! I’m a big fan of Pyrex, Ball Jars, and most vintage kitchen goods. I always walk out of here with a nice find! Granted the pricing is average to high comparable to etsy, but at least you don’t have to pay shipping. This place has tons of furniture too, if you’re into that.

The woman at the front has a serious attitude problem. We (my family) ordered a dresser from Antiques Then & Now. They agreed to have it delivered by 2 pm today.
It has been an hour. I very nicely called and asked whether or not they’d left the store yet just so I could go get lunch for god’s sake. The woman HUNG UP ON ME. Professional much? I called back and said I «assumed we were disconnected», to which she loudly chided me and said «They are ON their WAY. I am with a customer! If you leave and run errands, they’re going to be very angry with you!!»
OMG, yikes — you guys are going to be very angry with me?! Better join the witness protection program! I can’t STAND the thought of an antique dealer being angry with me. BRB breaking out in hives over this. I may have a panic attack.
Take a chill pill, lady. Let’s remember that I’m the customer and you’re the business. I’m the one bringing you business so you have no right to bring me attitude.
Also notice that all the negative Unilocal reviews reference a run in with this woman. Clearly she’s a big problem.

This is hands down, no question the best antique store I’ve ever been to and I love antique stores and have been to many!
It is so organized and easy to wander around and most every, like maybe even all but like one or two of the vendors there have great awesome quality items. This is honestly one of the places I don’t even want to Unilocal about because I don’t want other people to go there and buy up all the great stuff!
They have this amazing grandfather clock room FILLED with clocks of all sizes and types and the ticking and the bell ringing just sends me right back to childhood and warm memories.
I was also really impressed about how decently priced everything was! It really was like stepping out of the «current» bay area for an hour, or more like an hour and a half, we were seriously in there forever! So much to look at!
I plan on doing my Christmas shopping at this store because what else could be a cooler gift then something that is going to remind someone of their childhood or be so unique and special that it can’t help and show how much you care! Yes I’m being corny but whatevs! This place is great!

My favorite! Great stuff and good prices. And when the owner made a mistake, Carol, she told all her employees to look out for me, got on the phone to apologize and made everything right. So happy to have found them.

A great place to find treasures from the past. We have purchased two secretaries, a great French mantle clock and some Holt Howard pieces over the years.
The owners are knowledgeable and always willing to help. There is something for every price range. The Holt Howard piece I purchased was only $ 20.00…a lot less expensive than Ebay or Etsy. So take you time to look around and you may find your treasure.

They really saved the day for me. Nice, helpful and they sold my piece within 4 hours!

When I need my local antique shopping fix I go here. I always have my walk through the store planned out because when I arrive there’s usually only an hour left till it closes (I usually need 2 hours when antique shopping), and I want to make sure I can browse everything. Everything is laid out nicely unlike some places where the vendors just have stuff thrown in unorganized piles.
A big plus here is the clocks. They have a great selection of regulators and grandfather clocks. Of course they are pricey, but they are beautiful. There is also chandeliers and lots of furniture. My teenager loves coming here too because she can find old military memorabilia. She scored a military jacket not too long ago. I found a beautiful wall curio cabinet (1970s) on sale recently and have been so happy with it. I’ve also found some old glass pharmacy bottles (early 1900s) too. Basically they have a bit of everything and since it’s close to me I can go often. Whatever your antique taste is, they probably have it.
The people who work here are very friendly and easy to talk to. They are knowledgeable and approachable which is a nice for an antique store. Yes, Antique Trove was amazing, but this place is good and shouldn’t be overlooked.

My hubby and I are on a freakin mission to outfit our new casa with some cool ass 50’s stuff, kitchen table, knick knacks… etc…well, as others mentioned this isn’t the antique trove because it’s not as vast, but there is some pretty neato stuff if you have some dinero to spare! The most annoying thing I’d have to say was the music, it was so horrible… trying to shop with this bad background noise, I wanted to scratch my eyes out by the time we left…

A few dealers had some nice things but I felt like the prices were consistently high from booth to booth. I did get a small discount without asking when I went up to pay for my item. So why am I giving it two stars? I was there shopping with my husband and we were discussing some of the items-​someone who worked there-​no doubt the owner of the booth we were in– was listening to me and correcting what I said to my husband. I thought this was beyond rude! In this age of the internet and ebay, antique stores need to work on becoming friendlier places, not alienating paying customers. I certainly won’t be running back here.

Great antique store. Not as cool as the old Antique Trove and not quite as big, but this one will do.
My beloved Antiques and Collectibles at Rockaway Beach in Pacifica is closing soon due to a 50% increase in rent, and a number of the vendors are moving there or already have a booth there. Lots and lots of stuff to peruse through here from toys to art to furniture to clothing to coins. Being in San Carlos, it’s a bit far to go for me, but the selection is well worth it.
Service was friendly and helpful. I visited this place for the first time this last weekend, and when the spot in Pacifica closes, I’ll be coming here a lot more.

I was looking for a foyer console table and stopped by here after going to the furnishings store in the same parking lot where Antique Trove used to be. Having been to Antique Trove a few years back before it closed, I kind of understood the layout of this store better. There are multiple dealers that have their items displayed here, each in their own section, each running their own sales or sometimes a store wide sale.
I don’t know much about antiques but it was a cool store to browse. The ladies at the front pretty much left me alone to get lost in their store (it was close to closing time) and I found some cool, vintage leather bags at a great price and even my console table made of real wood, leather top, and from the 1940s for about $ 100. I almost bought a crappy particle wood one made in China from Target the other night and was glad I found one here instead. Make sure to ask if the price you see is the best price they can give you. And the owner, Carole, was totally nice, friendly, and helpful.
I would go back here to look for cool purses or jewelry items but most of the furniture was out of my price range. I’m sure the all walnut wood table is worth the $ 400+ price tag, I just wasn’t looking for something that expensive. I think this place caters to all types of wallets. Just come with some equally patient treasure hunters cause I got disoriented a few times in there on which sections I had seen already or hadn’t since there is so much to look at and take some time to look around, don’t rush cause you’ll be the one who is disappointed.

The woman at the register was a bit rude. When she asked for an ID to go with my debit card, I said, «Oh! My picture is on the front of the card if that works.» She suddenly became cool and sternly said «Yes, but I need to see another picture ID.» There was no warmth after I gave her my license to examine.
Thanks, I guess, for the «extra» protective measure but no thanks for making me feel like some thieving, antique store crook!

It has the same concept (several dealers, one space), but it is a lot smaller. Located just across the parking lot from the old location.
The owner is a very sweet woman who is very helpful.
My mother and I found some great treasures here. Prices were reasonable. Many dealers were having sales.
