Business Owner

Lisa Martén, M.D. is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology with advanced fellowship training in Cornea and Refractive Surgery. Dr Martén performs the latest techniques involving bladeless iLasik and PRK procedures, Intacs for Keratoconus, and small incision cataract surgery with multifocal lens implants. She worked at a referral center for Lasik, and treated many complications, helping her have a more careful approach when choosing candidates for surgery. She also has a background in nutrition and worked at a center for nutrition research in her home country of Costa Rica. She has extra insight into diseases that affect the eye such as Diabetes and Macular Degeneration. Born in New Orleans, LA and raised in San José, Costa Rica, Dr. Martén’s unique combination of cultures allows her to bring her patients quality care and the best service in their native language. Equipment they have here is awesome. I had a procedure where they removed the growth in my eye. They also removed the film in my eye from a previous surgery using the laser technology. Dr. Marten did it in the office. It is still healing process and she is helping in monitoring the eye.

I think the staff are friendly and kind. They answer my questions in a tactful way so I don’t freak out. It makes me feel more comfortable to ask more questions and not feel overwhelmed. Right now, Dr. Marten is doing a visual screening study for seeing how stem cells helps with neuropathy and my foot ulcer. I was referred here by my study and endocrinologist and I would refer others here too.

Yesterday my dad was scheduled for surgery at 2:40pm. That surgery was rescheduled for 3:30 without us knowing. Then we received a phone call at approximately 2:15 tell us that once again the appointment was changed to 4:30. So we show up at 4:00 because my dad has to be early to everything. He gets called back to prep for surgery around 4:45 and his surgery finally starts at 6:00. To top it off, there was a woman in the hallway that I talked to who was very nice and offered me hockey tickets for my trouble since I had to take the day off of work for no reason when I could’ve just taken my dad later. I told her that I would love some tickets and thanked her for the offer. She told me that she would go to her office to get them and bring them back to me. SHE NEVER RETURNED WITH THE TICKETS!!! At this point all I could do was laugh. So I told my story to the person up front that checked my dad out and she had no reaction. She completely blew me off. Oh well, at least my dad’s surgery went well.

My eyesight was really bad. I have been wearing glasses since second grade. I am a lawyer and do a lot of reading. My contacts would get dry and it was annoying to wear glasses too! I chose to get lasik here with Dr. Marten. She was very thorough and answered all of my questions very well. Now I can see 20⁄20 and do activities without wearing contacts or glasses. It is very convenient.

I had lasix about 6 weeks ago with Dr. Marten. The entire staff at this office was professional and attentive. Everything was explained very clearly and Dr. Marten was patient and answered all the questions I had clearly. I especially want to give props to Ivette for her knowledge and professionalism.
My eyes are doing great and vision is very clear – still healing but didnt expect such good results!
I went thru QualSight Lasik and got a very good discount. Very pleased with their service!

We are still impressed by the technical and professional skill. Spouse had his eyes examined — as he does not have binocular vision this is not a simple project — and Dr. Connor again did a fine job. BUT — the business loses a star because they charge you $ 30 to get a copy of your prescription. Even if you are purchasing, as we did, four pair of glasses at their in-​house optical. Yes, I realize this is a separate business, but you’d think they could cut some slack for the business operating out of their own lobby. $ 30 for touching one print button is ‘way out of line!

I had my LASIK procedure done last month. Yvette was very helpful and knowledgable. Dr. Lisa Marten told me exactly what to expect after the procedure and I healed really fast. followed up with her the next day. Excellent doctor. Plus I received a FREE mini IPad after the procedure.

I had my surgery done end of Jan of 2012. I opted for the PRK as PRK has 100% recovery rate, just takes awhile to heal. I was EXTREMELY nervous and terrified to have any work done to my eyes. Im the chicken that usually has to close my eyes for shots or any other frightening doctor visits. You can imagine my fright for having to keep my eyes OPEN and be AWAKE for the PRK.
The staff was VERY accommodating and helped me through my fears. I even received a volume beforehand. I was worked up over nothing. I never felt any pain, it was quick and now, 3÷27÷12 three months later I am able to see almost perfectly. My right eye is taking longer to heal than my left (which is completely normal)
The PRK process DOES take awhile to heal. I would suggest you estimate at least 4 – 7 days of not being able to drive or work on a PC. Although everyone heals differently, and each eye may heal differently. I highly recommend Dr. Martin as she is precise, affordable and explains all concerns and questions. Waiting period on appts have never been more than 5 mins and the office is very clean, comfortable. Staff is very polite and they even have free wifi in the waiting room – ask the receptionist for the pass code! Ive already recommended my co-​workers to this facility with Dr. Martin!

Although the doctors are good with their patients, the office staff is rude and the entire group shows no respect for patients… elderly (88 and 79 year old) patients are made to sit for over an hour at each visit because «they overbooked» and there is no apology… front desk staff just tell you“that’s how it is and we can’t do anything about it.” Horrible treatment by staff, but the surgery went well (two hours late though) and Dr. Marten is competent.

I got LASIK surgery for my eyeballs here last week… been meaning to get around to it for a while, so this place is where the magic happened. I read some reviews and tried to get the most info possible before letting some maniac shoot laser beams into my eyes, and these folks know their stuff!
Did my free consultation here to see if I was a candidate at all, was actually concerned I wouldn’t be since I’ve been about as irresponsible as one can be with contacts for the last 13 years. Anywho… was good to go, got scheduled and did the deed.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, all of my questions were answered (I had more than a few), the price was actually a lot lower than I thought it would be $ 1800.00/per eye ball for their latest-​greatest procedure and the follow-​ups thus far have been great. They take a genuine interest vs. zapping you then sending you on your way once they’ve cashed your check.
I’d post a video of the procedure, but it might make you hurl… never the less, it was painless and surprisingly quick.
Gets a solid 4 stars because I can see & they didn’t accidentally blind me… because I hate the medical center and that’s where it’s located, it didn’t rate 5 stars.
