Parkhurst NuVision

Dr. Parkhurst is an amazing surgeon! He did my lens surgery and I no longer wear glasses!!! That’s pretty amazing for an old girl. But, even more amazing, he did surgery on my son’s eyes and he now has ²⁰⁄₁₅ vision instantly. This is life changing for us. I appreciate all his hard work and efforts. From the moment we contacted his office for a consultation, until our postoperative appointments and personal text messages checking on us, we were treated with care and the most positive atmosphere I have ever experienced in a medical facility. It is apparent Dr. Pankhurst and his associates truly care about their patients. Thank you Dr. Pankhurst and your staff!

In March, I made the decision to pursue Lasik Eye Surgery as I was sick and tired of spending money on contacts and contact solution. After wearing contacts for more than 10 years, I asked my optometrist his opinion of Lasik doctors in San Antonio. Before I left their office, they handed me a packet with Dr. Parkhursts’ information. I researched many other doctors in San Antonio and even called one who advertises frequently to set up a consultation. After setting up my consultation with this other doctor, I did not have a warm and fuzzy feeling. So I contacted Parkhurst NuVision. The receptionist was warm and welcoming and answered all of my questions. I immediately booked a consultation with them. I was assigned to Jenni who handled the consultation and payment options. Not one time did I feel pressured or rushed to make a decision. This consultation was almost 3 hours long and we went through every step carefully to make sure that the surgery would benefit me in the long run. I went home that day and knew immediately that Dr. Parkhurst and his team was worth my money. Therefore, I cancelled my other consultation with another facility. The week before surgery I had my eye tests done with my optometrist and when Dr. Parkhurst received them, he noticed some inconsistencies. Therefore, the Friday before my surgery (which was on a Tuesday), his office called me to come in to check my eyes again before surgery. Dr. Parkhurst could have just guesstimated based off of the information he had from my consultation in comparison to those from my optometrist but he chose not too. This gesture alone made me feel like I made the right decision. The day of my surgery, I was incredibly nervous. He and his team checked my eyes again prior to surgery which made me feel comfortable. Their process was smooth and efficient. They estimate that surgery for both eyes would take no more than 15 minutes and I was in and out in less than 8 minutes. He was very detailed in talking through every step of the process. During the surgery I could see him carefully putting my flap in each eye back together. He takes pride in each one of his procedures. You can tell not only by the number of awards he has won but on how meticulous he is in the operating room. This was the best gift I have received all year. The fact that I can now see an alarm clock without squinting is amazing. I now have ²⁰⁄₁₅ vision and cannot thank Dr. Parkhurst, Dr. Medina & team for their passion in what they do. Do not settle for a «deal» for Lasik eye surgery, settle for the best and that is Dr. Parkhurst.

I drove from the Austin area for ICL (implantable contact lens) surgery at Parkhurst Nuvsion, and I am thrilled with the results. My eyes are so comfortable and I can SEE!!! Recovery time was astonishingly quick. Previously my glasses prescription was approaching –12.0. I stayed out of my rigid gas permeable lenses for 2 months prior to surgery.
I shopped around quite a bit for refractive surgeons within Austin and San Antonio. Dr. Parkhurst’s credentials set him apart from the rest, so I was willing to a little extra to know I’m in good hands. (And the lifetime pledge they offer is icing on the cake.) I’m certain now that the expense and commute was entirely worth it.
I also appreciated that Dr. Parkhurst was incredibly receptive and knowledgeable to any questions I had about the procedure. This isn’t true of all opthalmologists.
The facility is very nice and current. The staff is accomodating and responsive. Jeni is always prompt to help out with whatever I need.
It’s not cheap, but it’s likely the best money I’ve ever spent. :)

Look no further. This is it. Was very nervous about my lasik eye surgery but Dr. Parkhurst walked me through it. He explained everything he was doing, was very calm, and told me what to expect almost to the seconds during surgery. He’s a very experienced doctor, see his resume on his website. One of the few (correct me if I’m wrong) insured top eye doctor in the U.S. Why look anywhere else.
Dr. Medina does the pre and post check up and was very thorough and seriously cares about the patient and outcome of the procedure, so expect to wait during your appointments (about an hour).
Very nice office, uses the latest equipments, and friendly staff.
Outcome? Results vary with different patients. Mine are ²⁰⁄₁₅ and ²⁰⁄₁₀. BAM!!! Goodbye glasses and contact lenses! Thank you Parkhurst Nuvision!!!

Dr. Gregory Parkhurst and his staff at Parkhurst NuVision are the best! I’m so glad I decided to get my eyes operated on with them. I’m a 48 year old female who has worn glasses since I was 7, contacts since I was 16. I had a significant nearsighted prescription of –10.00 for contacts and –12.25 for glasses. I also had astigmatism, and needed readers because of my age. Toric contacts were uncomfortable, and my vision changed with every blink. Even with readers on top, reading was a chore. I couldn’t make out the dials on the washer and dryer, the buttons on the microwave, the stove, the read outs on the dashboard of the car. Grocery shopping was a nightmare, and forget about reading anything on a package. Computer work was a hassle. Textbooks reading slowed because of my poor eyesight. I was tired of it all, tired of being so blind. Dr. Parkhurst suggested the ICL implants to correct my nearsightedness, lasik on top of that to correct the astigmatism, and gave me one eye for reading and one eye for distance (monovision). I couldn’t be happier. It’s been 8 weeks since the surgery, and I feel very blessed every day to wake up and be able to see across the room, without having to reach for my glasses. The TV looks gorgeous. Movies are gorgeous. Concerts are gorgeous. The night time sky is gorgeous! Night driving is fun! Daytime driving is fun! Grocery shopping is fun! I can see the tiniest print in my textbooks! Life is so much more fun without the hassle of glasses, contacts, solutions, readers. My neck pains from using readers are gone. The itchy dry eyes from the contacts are gone. My eyes feel so comfortable, and no more squinting! My only regret is that I didn’t get it done sooner! Next I will be taking my daughters, who have inherited my bad eyes!

Had cataract surgery on both eyes. Dr. Parkhurst and staff were wonderful. Surgery and post-​op was easy and painless. My sight returned to 20 – 20 — a miracle. We’re very fortunate to have NuVision — would recommend to all.

I recently chose this office from researching the web and reading about Dr. Parkhurst then finding it even better that I could schedule a consultation online. I had backed out from Lasik about 3 years ago and am glad I did. This doctor offered me more options than just mono vision Lasik. His staff go out of their way to explain options along with the doctor explaining them, in depth. You can get this top of the line doctor, who did George Straight’s eyes, attached to the Ophthalmology school for the same price or less than a drive through clinic. I had to set up an appointment based on this alone and reading the reviews.
This Doctor will tell you the pro’s and the con’s of the surgery options even if it’s not what you may want to hear, which I liked about him. I chose his recommendations, btw, and am glad I did. I appreciate the detail, follow through (called me after hours with pricing) and have confidence from this doctor versus a drive-​thru Lasik type of clinic. You have only two eyes and they are very important — do not go through a ‘buy it here sale’ type of eye center if you can get a top of the line eye specialist for the same if not less cost, was my personal theory.
⁰⁷⁄₁₈ — My vision is bad@$$ — I love it! I have a ‘blended’ vision not monovision. I believe Dr. Parkhurst is the only center that offers one type of Lasik technology I had performed — I was supposed to have to wear glasses for intermediate vision on the computer, but since my computer monitor goes up and down I just push it down, tilt and read like I’m reading a book– without my glasses! I love my night vision and driving vision. NO MORE GLASSES and I can wear cool sunglasses!

I recently went to NuVision to have an annual eye exam as well as a comprehensive 3D anatomy scan. I have had some «unusual» eye issues in the past and have seen several eye specialists throughout the years. My experience with Parkhurst Nuvision was amazing.
I was promptly greeted upon my arrival at the office by very helpful and friendly staff. After filling out a brief medical history questionnaire (and the other standard medical forms) I was taken to the back to begin an extremely comprehensive eye exam. Over the course of the the hour and a half that I was there I underwent 4 different eye diagnostic tests ranging from 3D scans to regular field vision tests. To say they are thorough is a gross understatement. Throughout the entire process the staff explained what we were doing, why we were doing it, and what (if anything) it would show. Upon completion of the tests, I met with Dr. Arthur Medina and Dr. Greg Parkhurst to discuss the findings, treatment options that I am a candidate for, and also to answer any questions I had. At no time did I feel like there was a sale or a push to choose the treatments they offer. We went over viable options, risks, benefits, and I left my appointment with some helpful information on options available to me, as well as a quote for the procedures I had expressed interested in.
Overall, I was very impressed with the ease of scheduling my appointment, the thoughtfulness of their staff, the convenience of their location and hours, and their overall thoroughness in my exam. San Antonio has really lucked out with this clinic’s unique offerings and state of the art technology.
