The institute hosts educational and motivational events, provides professional consultative services, offers an exquisite retail experience and exhibits intimacy-​themed art. Whether you’re a patron, client, student, or customer, you’ll find inspiration and resources to expand your horizons and enhance your sexuality.

Filled with educational materials, intimacy devices, and inspirational art, the institute invites visitors to attend events, read books, sample a documentary, admire our collections, browse art, purchase a product or just drop in to satisfy a curiosity. Couples and individuals can also meet with our resident sexologist to address their most intimate issues and be guided in their personal sexuality goals.

History

Established in 2010.

The institute’s founder, Melissa Jones, started her sexology practice at the medical center in San Antonio, Texas. Desiring to expand the services and experiences for her clients and those interested in sexuality education, she established the Sexology Institute and Boutique in the historic Southtown art district. The institute is now overseen by a staff of sexuality experts who teach lectures, provide consultative services, offer products and tailored education.

Business Owner

Melissa is the institute’s founder and board-​certified clinical sexologist who specializes in helping couples and individuals improve their relationships by enhancing their sexuality and overcoming intimacy challenges. Melissa has been featured in USA Today and on Fox Television News and is the author of the book Good Loving. She has presented at CatalystCon, the Adult Novelty Expo and the International Lingerie Show; toured with Sexapalooza; taught at numerous sexuality venues and on Royal Caribbean Cruises. She is board certified by the American College of Sexologists and is an active member of the American Counseling Association, the International Coach Federation, and the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT).

I have shopped for bachelorette party accoutrements before at other «novelty stores,» but the Sexology Institute is different. The space is classy and welcoming. You feel like you’re in a quaint shop in Gruene, Texast. There are books, lingerie, and toys to explore. The staff is incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable as well. There’s no such thing as TMI, and they will answer your questions while also giving you space to just explore their selection. Whether you’re completely comfortable with your sexy lady power (or sexy man power), or you’re a giggly, blushing, nervous adolescent on the inside – or a bit of both – you must visit the Sexology Institute.

Went for the Girls Guide To Going Down and I assumed the class would be full of stuffy, plastic, middle-​aged, sexually liberated white women but I was happy to see all kinds of ladies attending the class. The shop is very clean and cute. The owner was knowledgable and made everyone feel comfortable. I’d totally go back for another 15 – 20 dollar class on other topics. Just a good way to spend time with friends or a girls night. Sex is a funny thing– go open minded and you’ll have a good time.

The sexiest sexy sex store in SanAnto’s Southtown!
This is a classy boutique for things to spice things up in your love making department. They offer a variety of oils, lubes, candles, fuzzy handcuffs, and other things to make things titillating. They also have a cool book section that can teach you amazing things.
Most of the stuff in the front is PG-​13 rated, but as you walk back towards the back of the store, things get a bit more spicy. Down the long hallway, they have a variety of toys in glass cases. These toys go from the simple and inexpensive to the insanely complicated. They even have sex toys that sync up to your iPhone!
In the back, they have a classroom setting, with sofas and easy chairs, set up with a television to watch videos on. They have regular classes on topics like increasing communication in the bedroom to more steamy topics. Check their website for times and prices.
The staff here is very friendly, and are eager to show off the merchandise and tell you about their offerings.
The store is classy, and doesn’t offer the normal porno shop stuff, like bachelorette party materials, blow up dolls, or videos and magazines. It feels safe, and well lit.
Parking can be a challenge, so I’d recommend parking on the back streets across S Alamo from this place.

Not only does this cute and quaint boutique carry the classiest of sexy lingerie (and I think they specialize in corsets), but they also have many varieties of lubes and toys. Such a great selection carefully described by a very knowledgeable and awesome staff.
Sexology also offers a montly event calendar with events happening every week. I reserved their space for a class and couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. A room full of women having the best time!

This boutique is absolutely amazing! The most upscale shop I have ever been to! When you walk in the atmosphere is that of a vintage boutique with beautiful lingerie made of the finest materials. There are signs and artwork for sale as well as spa treatments (love the cupcake bath bombs!), candles (amazing scents!), books (both fun and educational), and jewelry (stunning!). As you move towards the back of the boutique, there is an assortment of lubes, massage candles, and more! They only carry high quality and Sexologist approved intimacy skin care (the owner has her doctorate in sexology and actually counsels couples in an office located inside the boutique). As you pass through an archway you find out why it’s the sexology institute. Various high quality sex toys sit in beautiful glass display cases lining the walls. This is merely the entrance to the gorgeous education center with comfy couches, state of the art technology for educational classes, a kitchenette where they serve food during these classes, and a small «antique» section with sex toys throughout the years (the owner really does her research!). They have various classes from couple classes to girls night classes (belly dancing anyone?). The classes are very informative and comfortable. I have been to this boutique multiple times: by myself, with my husband, and with friends and family. It’s always a warm and inviting atmosphere and those who are nervous about being around «sex items» are quickly put at ease by the friendly and knowledgable staff that consists only of women. I highly recommend this boutique! :)

This place is adorable! My husband and I came here on Valentines for a little class. The staff was sweet, knowledgeable & let us browse before class. The selection looks to be very high end. The space is set up wonderfully. The shop in the front, and a space in the back with comfy couches and a kitchenette. The selection ranges from bath bombs and silky numbers to high end ‘toys’ and crystal laced intimate apparel. I saw a large selection of books, corsets, games etc.
The class was comfortable, funny and educational. The couches, the vintage display cases and the large TV for presentations all worked really well together. The owner of the shop was also teaching the class. There was fruit, scones, tiny sandwiches & water. I avoided the bountiful bowls of candy. We left feeling like it was worth the cost. They use Eventbrite for ticketing, so it was all online and very easy.
