History

Established in 2009.

After Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, friends Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney found a way to twist a tragedy into a purpose. Cathy and Renee started Corks N Canvas in 2007 in Mandeville, Louisiana. The concept pairs instructional art with friends, wine and a lively instructor to produce individual works of art. With four locations in the Greater New Orleans Area, the company began franchising the business as Painting with a Twist® in 2009. Painting with a Twist® has been the #1 Ranked ‘Paint & Sip’ Franchise by Entrepreneur Magazine three years in a row.

Melissa knew that she could be more than «just a secretary.» All her life she’s enjoyed being artsy — drawing, creating, painting, etc. As she «matured» she realized a love for good wine too. So, during a visit to her hometown in New Orleans, LA, she found Painting with a Twist where painting & wine were a match made in Heaven! She signed up for a class and a franchise! Love this place!
I’ve been here several times and have had a great experience everytime! The instructors are very interactive and helpful. I like the look of this place and the location. I have no artistic talent whatsoever but feel confident when I come here and if you make a mistake they will show you what to do to cover and fix it! Overall, an awesome experience. Great for couples, best friends, a large group of people, small group of people, family, etc. And don’t forget to BYOB!

It’s not about how good you are.
I loved doing this so much because my family are artists — however, I went with three other friends who did not share this excitement, and were actually apprehensive. The oddest thing happened — their paintings not only outshone mine, but I think they enjoyed it more than I did! I will definitely be doing this again — it’s not something to be scared of at all!
Having said that, our instructor was a bit full o’ herself. ARTISTS! GAH!

I just left a few hrs ago and I can’t wait to go back. My husband and I enjoyed ourself. Gng on a Tuesday night the crowd wasn’t as big as the weekend. Our instructor was quirky and fun, she made us feel at ease. I love this place. I wanna go back like ASAP.

I am giving this place five stars because I dont know what they could possibly do to make it better. This is the second time I have enjoyed a nice creative Saturday with friends and family and had a blast. For whatever reason I have always ended up with Danielle and shes amazing. Shes full of energy and does a great job leading the class while keeping us laughing and having a good time. I look forward to another adventure there!

I’ve been here several times and loved each experience! I have always gone as a girls night out, but there have been a handful of men in our classes. This is a great spot for a date night or girls night out. Occasionally they will have painting sets, where you paint one canvas and your partner paints another and they usually connect somehow (like 2 fish kissing). They also have all ages painting on some days, usually Sat 10 – 12. Fun bonding time with your child!
I have ZERO artistic talents but somehow I managed to make a painting I actually liked each time. I’ve only had 2 instructors (we keep requesting them because we love their style), and they have both been amazing! They teach everyone by standing in front of the class but do walk arounds to see if you need help. They also have assistance in each class walking around for painting tips, hand out extra paper towels or refill paint. There was one painting I did not like the color pallet and requested a different color and it was no problem to get additional paint.
Cost is $ 35– $ 45 for a 3 – 4 hour class, however, you can sometimes catch a $ 20 deal on the web site. All classes are reserved by the web site or calling, no walk ins. You can also view the calendar to see what they are painting and when. They have a ‘stamp card’ after your first visit ask for one! Each time you go, take it with you to get a stamp. After so many (I think 6) you get a free painting!
The manager is very nice and accommodating for any request. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Seating is reserved for you so there is no worry of splitting from your group. You can bring your own snacks and drinks. Only advice I have is: come prepared to have fun and the more alcohol you drink the better your painting looks (:

For my birthday last year my friends Peter and Jackie took me here, and it was great! I love the location, Artisans Gallery is such a wonderful place, and you feel that much more of an artist there. And you can grab a bite to eat after and shop if you wanted!
They provide the canvas, paint, brushes, etc. It’s BYOB so get your favorite wine and enjoy yourself!
We painted a Tuscan Door, and when I saw the painting, I really had no idea how I was going to be able to paint it. The instructor was great, and the helper was always there in case you needed refills or questions.
I really enjoyed myself and need to go back soon!

This is GREAT for groups. Don’t expect to really learn how to paint, that’s not really what it’s about. This is a place where you can do something fun and creative with friends. Don’t forget to bring the essentials — wine, cheese and chocolate. They set up tables for you to put your food out. I usually bring my own wine glasses, but they do have cups there. It’s always fun to see how differently everyone’s paintings turn out and you get to go home with something to hang on your wall (or hide in your closet).

I came to Painting with a Twist for a friends birthday and really enjoyed the experience. We went on a Friday night, it was $ 45 a person and the class lasted three hours. There was about eight people in out party bu the whole class was full. I LOVED that you could bring your own wine and hors d’œuvre and the time flew by. There was one instructor but about three staff members going around and helping anyone who had questions. They really encourage you to be creative while coming up with your own style.
The only negative) if you would even call it that) is that /​i wish we could choose our own color palettes as I wasn’t terribly in love with the red brown background. I did manage to use the colors I had to make MORE colors and from there went al bit wild and different. despite this, they were still really helpful and attentive to my needs, despite my persistent rebellion. The process is a step by step how-​to and because of this, the painting results were wonderful! Everyone’s Owls looked fantastic and everyone at our party (and in the class) had a blast! I will definitely be going back!
Highly recommended for a date night but make sure to calla head as they don’t take walk-in’s!

Love PWAT!
These are definitely perfect for a girls night out. You can bring your own food and drinks (Wine is encouraged!) and enjoy it while you paint. These paintings look easy, but some are pretty hard but the instructors are willing to come help you with whatever you need. I have been to this location twice and the other location once.
This location was a little hard to find but the location is adorable. I always feel comfortable and relaxed, which is great when your with your friends painting and having a good time!

Completely addictive, super fun, and impressive when you tell your friends you painted such an awesome painting.
I have only been to the Central location but both times the staff was friendly and very helpful. BYOB adds another level of fun.
When we had to cancel at the last minute, the owner gave us credit for what we paid which we actually got to split over two separate classes.
Absolutely recommend, perfect for friends or dates. :)

Fun, exciting, and educational way to spend the evening. It’s a bring-​your-​own alcohol and snacks venue. You get to sit, sip wine, and learn some nice artistic techniques while you’re hanging out with the girls, a loved one, or alone. It’s a laid back, and incredibly fun environment. I got myself a frequent painters card since I plan on returning at least once a month. Although I’m not very creative or talented, I went home with a painting that implies otherwise. :D

Fun and educational way to spend a few hours. We decided to go during a rainy, gloomy Saturday and it was a perfect way to enjoy the afternoon. They have a fairly organized system — all the supplies are provided, your seat and all the trimmings are prepared before you arrive and the groups are instructed by a lead «artist» with a few floaters around to marshal more resources and fill in for the busy instructors. Our instructor, Jessica, was likable, helpful and fun, but the floater was Miss Grumpy Pants. Other than that and difficulty seeing the example painting from the back (packed class), we had nothing but good things to say. We would recommend and will probably be back. Can definitely see how this would be ideal for a group.

I’ve always wanting to try one of these one visit one painting classes. A friend of mine goes frequently and raves about it, so a couple of girlfriends and I decided to go. We had such a blast! All you have to do is go to their website and look at their calendar of events. About 1 – 3 different paintings are done daily. Book and pay for your painting session on the website (cost ranges from $ 25-​$ 45 per person). The cost includes all materials, you just have to show up! We decided to paint Tuscan Patio which really does take the full 3 hours and is definitely a lot easier than it looks.
Painting with a Twist allows you to bring wine and snacks, they even supply wine glasses, corkscrew, plates, utensils, and napkins. It’s an adults only (18+) venue unless specially noted that the class they are doing is a family event. Our class was packed and our instructor, Danielle, was hilarious and made the class fun.
This place is great for a girls’ night out, a date night (yes, there were a lot of guys there), or a family fun day. I can’t wait to go back!
