Home Away From Home Kennels

They were able to take our dogs in on a last minute notice and were extremely friendly. The place well well kept and clean. My fur babies were there for 4 days. When we picked them up, the staff were sad to see them go. They all had their own cute stories of what they loved about our little ones. It was so sweet to know they spent time with our dogs and got to know their silly personalities. The staff also washed our beds and blankets for the pups and had them ready for us by pick up time. I would definitely go back here again and would definitely recommend them as well. Thanks Home Away From Home Kennels!

I have read others’ reviews for Home Away From Home and have NO idea how anyone’s pet could have gotten fleas or kennel cough from staying here. My dog has been attending daycare here 5 days a week for about 6 years and I’ve NEVER seen a flea on him. Nor has he ever had kennel cough. I’m sure if there were fleas there my dog certainly would have brought one home by now.
I am so thankful that I have found a place that I can leave my dog and have peace of mind knowing he is being well cared for. The owners and staff members truly care about the pets they take care of and go to great lengths to make sure they are comfortable and happy. My dog loves coming here every day and it truly is his «home away from home» as I frequently work long hours. The staff members are very personable and patient, and they don’t mind if you call to check on your pet while you are away. Their rates are reasonable, and they offer teacher and military discounts. Also, unlike most other boarding kennels, they are open on Sundays for pick up which is very convenient.
The main reason I gave HAFH 5 stars is the fact that I trust the people that work there and know they have my dog’s best interest at heart.

My dog entered with not a flea on her– a day or 2 after pickup, I noticed a single flea, now she is miserably infested! I also found a tick. I called and was told it could not possible be their fault! Apparently they spray often. So whre did these fleas and ticks come from? I live in an apartment!
Seriously! Own up and offer a dip at the least!

*Update: we did an extended stay (well, our fur babies did, lol) for 14 nights. Our pups came back healthy… No kennel cough, no fleas, not worn out, etc. I called 1x to see how they were doing and got a good report. The staff is on the smaller side so I’m beginning to talk to the same people. This place is so organized, everything you bring in is document & they write your name on it if it isn’t already (bone or toy colors/​size, blanket colors/​fabric). Our dogs even enjoyed the brand of dog food that is offered. It’s not some cheap brand, it’s a decent quality. * ⁴⁄₁₄
We started bringing our dogs here last year based off a few recommendations. We have not been disappointed.
We haven’t done anything more than 2 nights at a time but our dogs come back healthy, happy, and tired (the last is fine with us because it gives us time to unpack from vacations, lol).
The pricing is different than other kennels, the have full and half day rates which is nice if you only need a few hours or even a day and a half (you don’t over pay for services you don’t use).
This kennel accepts pit bull breeds and you can board multiple dogs together… No matter the breed! It’s great for us w/​2 bullies and a rat terrier, we don’t have to split them up. We always get the indoor/​outdoor run which they have full use of during the day and then a doggy door is closed so they are under a roof at night. Beds are provided; you can bring your own though. We bring our own food portioned for each meal and labeled (I’m pretty sure the kennel offers food but ours are on a allergy diet… I never ask).
We pay for extra play time ($ 8 per dog, per play time). You can choose group play or individual play.
The staff is extremely friendly. There are something like 20 – 30 cameras around the kennel and is monitored when no one is there. Another bonus: you can pick up on Sundays 1−4pm when most places are closed forcing you to pay for an extra night. We toured the grounds and it’s extremely clean; witnessed staff hosing down the play area and any soiled kennels.

This is a nice grooming and boarding facility with lots of recent improvements. We’ve used them for baths, nail trims, flea treatments and even skunk treatments! The boarding is also great, and they make sure that your pet gets plenty of outdoor time every day.

My family has recently moved back to San Antonio after being in another state (military move) and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Home Away From Home was still around & doing well! We used them before we had to leave town and again during Spring Break and were more than satisfied with their boarding & bathing services! My dog & 2 cats were well cared for, the prices were fair (although they had increased since the last time we used them, but to be expected as this was years back), & the place looked brand new! Seems like these people are all about investing back into their business & making pets more comfortable! We’ll be relocating to SA mid-​summer and I will definitely look into their daycare services for our dog. Well done Home Away From Home!

I put two cats for boarding for a week. They got fleas when they came out. It took two weeks to get rid of. It has been two times. Don’t get me wrong. They are nice people.

This place is great for a pet when going out of town! They def take care of your lil precious and its not very expensive either. Their great here and I would def recommend this place to anyone going out of town and need a pet sitter. Great Job!
