My family LOVES staying at the Omni Hotel when we’re in town! Amazing beds, Great Service, and plenty of Amenities to meet our families needs, especially the restaurant! Bolos provides great room service as well as comfortable dining experience! Just ask and they will do their best to meet your dietary needs! The ability to have such a great and convenient selection prepared by hotel Chefs, a healthy lunch followed by a poolside fruit tray, and a wealthy dinner with cocktails in the piano bar is delightful! It’s worth mentioning that I am able to arrive with my family, valet the car, and receive everything we need from the hotel and neighboring business’s. I feel the low rating by locals is only due to the availability and rush of their visit to appreciate the atmosphere and total package the Omni and Bolos has to offer! From my family to yours: Cheers!

There are only two good things about Bolo’s: 1. The Texas Gulf shrimp and creamy orzo first course during Restaurant Week 2. The ginger Scottish door hop Bolo’s is located in the Omni Hotel in the Colonnade. I was meeting some friends & was the first to arrive so I started doing my Unilocal homework. I was excited to read that they offer a Sunday brunch for $ 30 per person to include a buffet and bottomless mimosas… I ask the girl, who says they«haven’t offered it» so far this year, but will probably start soon. I add it to my brunch list. We made reservations, but I think there were 3 tables populated including us. The meal was WAY underwhelming… downright inedible, mostly. The meats — skirt steak, venison, chicken — were not seasoned and lacked flavor. I enjoyed the veggie offering in the Restaurant Week 2nd course(venison, red cabbage, a few asparagus spears, & scalloped potatoes)…the asparagus was perfectly crisp; the red cabbage was nice; the scalloped potatoes were bland, flavorless, & awful, but I consider those a starch personally. The sopapillas for dessert were waaaay underpar for a city like San Antonio: take them off the menu! The grapefruit semifredo was ok… but not good enough for four of us to finish. They used canned grapefruit — why?! Grapefruit is in season right now! Service was nice, but they did forget a few things we asked for/ordered to include their chili. I removed their brunch from my list as I walked to my car.

I feel duped by both Culinaria and Bolo’s for this experience. I chose to have my only SA Restaurant Week experience at Bolo’s because of the awesome picture of the dessert on Culinaria’s facebook page. That same picture was feature in Bolo’s RW menu online. I show up, order the RW menu and just get served with disappointment. While the shrimp and orzo appetizer was delicious everything else was mediocre, including the dessert that ended up looking nothing like the picture. We ordered several items off the regular menu as well. Everything was bland. The chili was ok, but not great. Same for the queso fundido, the flank steak and the chicken. All of it was underwhelming. I at least thought the restaurant week menu would deliver, but aside from the appetizer, I wouldn’t order any of those items again. On top of all that, service was slow, though our waitress was nice. If I stayed at the Omni, I still probably wouldn’t eat here.

Total disappointment! Too pricey for mediocre food. Hubs & I spent $ 88 + tip. Stop here if that’s all you wanted to know. Read on for more deets… «This week, the Taste team visited Bolo’s at the Omni Colonnade and found some inspired dishes from a Chilean chef who creates intriguing presentations of Latin American flavors along with north-of-the border specialties.» — My San Antonio December 12, 2014 This snippet got me so excited about trying Bolo’s. I love Latin flavors! So hubs & I met up with some friends Monday night in order to also take advantage of their Restaurant Week menu. Two of us ordered the Restaurant Week special, which included shrimp & creamy orzo appetizer, venison entrée, & choice of two desserts — sopapillas & grapefruit semifreddo. We got one of each of the desserts. We also ordered Moscow Mule, Chili, Rosemary Molasses Chicken, & Flat Iron Steak(forgot to take pic of steak). Our table shared everything. The shrimp & orzo app was good… not great… but the most edible of our choices. The rest of the dishes had no distinguishable flavors at all… Latin or otherwise. Couldn’t detect any rosemary or molasses in the Rosemary Molasses Chicken. It was supposed to be served with gravy, which we never got. And $ 20 for half of a flavorless chicken?! No thanks. We each took a bite & shoved it aside. The venison & flat iron steak were bland & overcooked. The potatoes lacked seasoning. The salsa ranchero that was served with the flat iron steak tasted canned. Not good at all :/The semifreddo was ok. But the sopapillas were limp & doughy. My one friend commented that it was like eating at a senior citizen’s home. We all agreed. When our server asked how everything was, we were honest & told her we didn’t really like anything beside the shrimp appetizer. She could probably tell though from the amount of food we left on the table. I really hate wasting food, but I could only choke down so much. My dining companions all stopped eating after taking a few bites. We’re all big eaters. So for us not to finish our meals is very telling. This was supposed to be my last big meal in SATX for awhile and I was very disappointed. Hate ending things on a bad note. What else is open this late at night… Hmmmm???

Very great restaurant I stayed at the hotel for a conference. I had the chef salad one day and the Ruben with homemade chips the next, both were very good although they were pricey. I also tried the carrot cake and the banana bread pudding. I wouldn’t suggest the bread pudding as it was pretty bland. However the carrot cake was very good, in fact I ordered another piece for dessert after I dined somewhere else.

Sunday brunch? Executive chef running the buffet line? Biscuits and gravy, breakfast sausages, waffles, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, omelet station, fruit bar, bacon, meat patties, yogurt bowls, bagels, choices of juices and coffee… are all you ever want in an American breakfast. Right? Yes! I was surprised at the $ 17 breakfast buffet. First, the hostess lady at the entrance was incredibly nice and even came and made sure we were taken care of. Truly a sweetheart! Our server was also super quick, nice, and very attentive. He must of had lots of practice. Then the buffet was just amazing(except for the waffles which tasted like baked egg, the watery oatmeal, and mold on the berries but in no way made my day bad). Delicious buffet and I am definitely coming here again with the family. We came at about 11am and it was moderately packed. We saw a lot of people from outside the hotel come in and eat. That’s a good sign.

Not typically a fan of hotel restaurants. Always found the price incredibly inflated, unnecessarily bougie, and generally a tourist trap for the lazy hotel patron. So there we were, indecisive to where we were going to have brunch. How pleasant a surprise it was when Bolo ended up being awesome. All you can eat Brunch buffet with bottomless mimosa for $ 30 a person? So the buffet is split between breakfast and lunch items that are in two separate rooms. Nothing unique rather an assortment of the most popular meal items. Some of the items that stood out was the salad bar, prime rib station, and the cold bar of shrimp and oysters. Standard breakfast selection of pancakes, biscuits & gravy, bacon, sausage, sausage patties, cereal… etc. Looked to me that the breakfast really just complimented the lunch items. Mimosas really did flow like the river wild. After a while the waitress just left carafes full of them. I can only speak for the mimosas as I didn’t have anything else booze related. This solidifies my decision to stay at this hotel next time I am in town. Till then.

It’s that time of year again! Restaurant week! Went to go check out Bolo’s for lunch and it was simply delightful. Located inside the Omni Hotel, this quaint little eatery whipped up a delicious meal. For lunch, there was a set 3 course menu. First, we started off with a deconstructed tomato soup and tomato salad. Tomato salad= a bunch of cut of pieces of tomato, but the sauce that was drizzled on top was wonderful. The tomato soup was thick and hardy. The entrée was lamb with rosemary and potatoes with a few brussel sprouts. Lamb was cooked medium rare and very tender. The potatoes were a good complement to the lamb. Dessert was this cake with strawberries ice cream on one side, and whipped cream on the other. The dessert was very simple, and tasted good, but wasn’t anything that was amazing. Overall, great experience! The quality of food was definitely worth the $ 15.

This place is awesome! Had the steak for dinner and it was great. Bolo’s is located inside the Omni Hotel, so it’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They even have a Sunday brunch. The staff is always super friendly.
