For anyone who has purchased a home in the Bay Area it’s utter insanity. Every home has multiple offers, and even once you’re in contract you need to work at breakneck speed to close. Our purchase was particularly tricky as the property was multi-​unit and I was picky about financing.
As first time home buyers, Chris spent many hours on the phone with me simply walking through our financing options and the entire financing process. There were several instances where it would have been much simpler to get into a non– 30-​year fixed-​rate loan, and Chris was absolutely relentless in pushing and fighting to get us into the loan we wanted. Chris was available nights and weekends whenever we needed him… which was several times; to make our contract deadline for financing Chris met us on a Saturday morning with his children in tow to sign all the loan paperwork and make sure we were set.

Chris helped us close on a house in 21 days — this despite the fact the industry had just moved to a new longer disclosure period that was holding up some loans. He was super responsive and walked us through the entire loan process. He got us a great rate and saved us money on closing costs to boot. We were first-​time buyers and found the loan process pretty stressful! But Chris kept assuring us it would all work out, even when we had to turn in lots of paperwork to prove my self-​employment income and ran into a few other delays. Chris spoke to the seller of the house we bid on, in the very competitive market of Mill Valley, and vouched for us, assuring them we could close in 21 days. That call helped us win the house! So all in all, I would highly recommend Chris and his team.

We had to move very fast to present a competitive offer in a very hot market and Chris responded immediately to my call (on a weekend), to help strategize best approach. Chris and his team were in touch daily throughout the process to make sure we had what we needed along the way, and we closed on time in just 21 days, with a great rate. In one word super-​friendly. Chris and his team are amazing. We had to close quickly in a situation that was less then normal. Through out the process Chris kept telling me that things were going to work out. I even called him up a couple of times when I was worried that things weren’t going to work and he kept reassuring me that things were fine and he’d make it happen. Chris and his team are out of this world! After working with him for our condo purchase and refi in San Francisco, we leaned on him to advise us on a big home purchase in Burlingame. He kept me informed of everything I needed to make this happen. The market out here is very competitive and a lot of cash only deals, so we had to close quickly without any contingencies. wow… nothing but 5-​star reviews. our experience was the opposite.
we were referred to chris by a financial advisor whose minimum portfolio size is $ 5m. he said that one of his clients had a good experience with chris.
we began in early feb., with a target siging date of 5÷3… the day after we would have had to pay a prepayment penalty on our existing loan. the ⁵⁄₃ date and its significance were repeated many times. chris and chris said they had everything they needed from us way early in the process.
we checked in about a week and half before ⁵⁄₃ to make sure we were on track, and got no response to multiple emails and voicemails. after we raised the heat a little, chris finally got back to us and said he didn’t realize that all those times we said we wanted to close on 5/​3, we actually wanted to close on ⁵⁄₃. hmmm…
he also said that he would get back to us with a revised schedule, and that there was a ‘three day right of rescission’ on the re-​fi… meaning that it would be an additional three days after signing before it funded, and was then recorded the day after that.
it took more followup on our part to get chris to come back with the new schedule: signing on wednesday, 5/​8, and funding on thursday, ⁵⁄₉. when we asked «but what about the three day right of rescission you mentioned?», he said he forgot, and revised the schedule to ‘sign on wednesday, 5/​8, and fund/​record early the week of 5/​13′. oops.
when we told him we were unhappy (with how he had handled our re-​fi, and missed a date that had been on the schedule for almost three months. and not responded to voicemails and emails) he responded that if we didn’t like it, he would refund our appraisal fee and we could take our business elsewhere. smooth.
we were too close to the finish line to not get across, even when the title company (i.e., NOT chris) informed us that there was a pre-​payemnt penalty on the home equity line we were paying off and closing… the one we could have kept, and saved $ 500 by not closing, if chris had put a minimum of attention and professionalism into our re-​fi.
at the end of the day, we found chris unprofessional, unresponsive, and short-​sighted.
the financial advisor who recommended him was horrified, and will never recommend him again.
we were horrified, and have shared our story with friends, fellow residents in our building, and, finally, Unilocal.
if only there were more mortgage brokers from which to choose… oh, wait. there are.

Chris gave us an amazing rate on our loan and pulled a lot of rabbits out of his hat to get things done. The closing cost was super low as well. It was so low that our agent thought it was impossible… There were a lot of nail biting moments and I think I lost a lot of hair throughout the closing process, lol, but he pulled it through on time. Considering how we had the Christmas & New Year holidays in between, he still managed to get us closed in 35 days. I did have to call him a lot and follow up, but I honestly can’t complain, because he closed us on time, he was there when we needed him, and gave us the lowest rate in the country. I would absolutely 100% recommend him.

I can highly recommend Chris and his team. They helped us navigate our first home loan for an on time close. Chris Davis is very knowledgeable about different lending products and finding the best product for his costumers. We talked to several lenders and choose him because he was the most helpful and easiest to work with. Chris and Chris get it done! Great service, and great rates. They were really helpful in navigating all of the paperwork. But let’s call a spade a spade… if it doesn’t make dollars then it doesn’t make sense! We didn’t even shop or try to push for a better rate — they just gave us a great rate because that’s what they do. It was kind of weird because I almost felt like I was not being responsible for not grilling him…“is this the best you can do”…but he came highly recommended from our agent (who would not have vouched for him if he was not good), and we just went with it. No regrets.

We have bought and sold several properties in the last 20 years and financed them through traditional banks and mortgage brokers. Chris Davis is the first lender to completely exceed all of our expectations — at every level. From the first call to the days after the closing, Chris and his associate (Chris B.) were one step ahead of me. They could not have been more responsive. When we needed a pre-​approval letter for our first offer, Chris provided our realtor the exact letter that she needed within 15 minutes of making the request — and, on a weekend. When we lost that house to another buyer, Chris sent us several encouraging e-​mails, reminding us that a better house is out there. He even lowered our locked-​in rate right before closing when the rate had dropped another ¹⁄₈^th of a point — saved us another $ 40,000 over the life of the loan! I have to say that the best part about working with Chris is that he and Chris B. are very friendly, professional and truly care about providing the highest quality customer service possible to their clients. Finally, I must mention that throughout the last 45 days, as we moved toward closing, we heard, over and over, from our relator and the escrow company, how lucky we were to have chosen Chris to handle our loan. Everyone who he interacted with on our transaction had a great experience. He made their jobs easier and they all greatly appreciated his efforts.
