Avant Garden is a landscape design firm based in Marin County with over 35 years of experience in residential landscape design. Design specialties includes hardscapes such as patios, walls, water features, outdoor kitchens, and fire pits. Plantings have been an emphasis from edible to drought tolerant, and from California native to English, all done with an artistic eye.

History

Established in 1980.

I started doing gardening when I was 6 years old with father in Southern California. When I returned from being in the Peace Corps I moved to Marin County where I started doing landscape installation and maintenance. In 1995 I sold the contracting business to focus on design and project management.

Business Owner

Raised in Southern California, I started gardening with my father when I was 6 years old. In high school I grew an extensive vegetable garden selling produce to our neighbors.

After college I was in the Peace Corps in Senegal West Africa where I worked as a plant pathologists. I have been in business in Marin County since 1980. I have two grown daughters.
