Really nice people but somewhat dishonest.
Tingey came to my place to diagnose the problem with my water heater. After spending some time looking at it, the plumber told me to call Rheem and order a new gas control valve and a dip-​tube, which were both under warranty still. The plumber from Tingey had actually only inspected the gas control valve– he never checked out the dip-​tube.
I call Rheem to tell them what the plumber said, and long story short, I had to make something up in order to make them believe I had a faulty dip-​tube, so that a new one could be sent out. A new gas control valve was also sent out.
So I get the parts. Tingey comes over and installs them for $ 405, based on their hourly rate. Here is where the dishonesty comes in.
Tingey’s diagnostic fee is a flat rate, from what I was told by the plumber. Since the plumber never took a look at my dip-​tube and just assumed I needed one, they made an extra $ 200 or so from the labor needed to install a new one. Had the plumber actually taken a look at the dip-​tube during the diagnosis, he may have discovered that there was nothing actually wrong with the dip-​tube, thus making the installation of a new one unnecessary (and saving me $ 200.)
Sure, the plumber thought it was possible that there was a problem with the dip-​tube, based on some tests that he did. But that doesn’t matter to me. If I’m paying a flat rate for a diagnosis, and if the potential problem will cost me hundreds of dollars, I expect them to look at EVERYTHING. Not just assume.
Even after completing the installation of the new parts, there was never a confirmation that the old dip-​tube was malfunctioning. This is a Rheem water heater of less than a year old we’re talking about. It probably wasn’t broken. The plumber just knows how to score an extra $ 200 for the company.
After all of this, the issue still wasn’t fixed. I still have 3 minutes of hot water from a 50 gallon tank. I told the plumber that my shower will last a lot longer if the central heating turns on during the shower, and he didn’t have a clue how to fix or diagnose that. I told him this before he installed new parts, by the way.
Tingey seems like a nice company with pretty nice people (other than Beatriz, who is never excited to answer the phone,) but I won’t be calling them in the future. I need a company who does honest work, and is smart enough to solve the issues.

We recently moved into a home that was suffering from «deferred maintenance» so wanted to have the water softener evaluated (it was our first water softener and we weren’t familiar with its operation). Ken Tingey patiently took the time to teach me about how it worked while he checked over the unit. He made a couple of suggestions relating to how it could function better and took care of the changes at my request during the same visit. He also had a quick look at our HVAC unit and pointed out a leaking pipe which could have caused problems down the road, if left unnoticed. A service appointment was scheduled at my request for a few days later. At that time, Rob efficiently repaired the faulty pipe as well as helped to resolve an existing problem with the filter rack that was proving to be a challenge when I tried to install clean filters.
My initial contact with Beatriz in the office instilled in me a sense of comfort that I had contacted a company with integrity. Both technicians were polite, informative, and professional while also being conscientious about covering their boots before stepping into our home.
Experiences with other plumbers at our previous home had already prepared me that plumbing services can be costly. What makes the cost bearable is having people in your home whom you feel you can trust are treating you fairly and honestly.

Having Tingey Plumbing take care of a few issues we had in our home was a great experience. They made sure I was informed of arrival times, worked efficiently and even cleaned up when they were done. I was very pleased.

Tingey was able to get to us very quickly. They were friendly and helpful when I made the appointment. The gentleman that fixed our water heater was also very friendly. The problem has been resolved and we were thankful for quick and friendly service. He also finished faster than he had planned. They followed up as well to ensure we had had a great experience. You can tell that customer service is important to them. We will use them in the future.

These guys are the best. Everyone is extremely competent and they take the time to help you understand the problems and solutions. The best part about my dealings with them is that they are old school. They come in, take a look at things, and deal with you reasonably. If you could probably fix the issue yourself, they will tell you how, shake hands and leave — no charge. If you need them to fix the issue they will, but it’s always fair. That is the way my Dad did business and I am so happy to have found another company who thinks the same way. I give Tingey my highest recommendation. Oh — and if you call them, I would recommend that you look at their $ 99 dollar three year membership plan. For $ 99 they will show up once a year to make sure everything is operating as it should. If you need work, you get it at a discounted rate. Works for me!

Tingey Plumbing & Heating they were very helpful not only on the first conversation also the last. I felt that my business was important to them even though they didn’t do any plumbing. They came out with no cost to me and looked at my shower to find out where and why it was squeaking. The plumber came to the conclusion it was the faucet and that it needed to be replaced. The plumber was on time, friendly and clean. I know if I do have a plumbing issue I will call them again.

I was really worried when my kitchen sink clogged up and we couldn’t get the water to go through the pipe. Even worse the water was actually going out the bathroom sink. After we were sick of trying to self fix it we realized we needed professional help. Since I rely heavily on Unilocal for good reviews I looked up plumbing services. This place was open on Saturday and had a great review so I called. They were able to come out early in the morning on Monday and even called before showing up. The technician was so helpful and very kind. We were given a few different options and chose to have the pipe jet cleaned which is warrantied for 5 years! To me not having to worry about any clogs for five years is so great and if on the off chance it does clog they will come fix it no problem. He was done in a timely manner and if you divide the price by 5 years of no clogging it is cheaper than any plumber out there. I will be using them again for sure.
P. S. our technician came with no plumber crack which is always a plus. Thank you guys so much for fixing my nightmare of a plumbing problem.

I love these guys! My heating system and a lot of my plumbing was a big mess, despite being «fixed» many, many times and with a lot of expense from other companies. They came in, reviewed every single thing very carefully and explained all of the problems to me in great detail – yet with language that I could understand. I feel that their service is fast, impeccable, prices reasonable and they back up their work on the rare occasion that there is a further problem. They really are the best. If only I had found them years ago, we could have been spared a lot of time, agony and money!
