I was in the market to find a private dog trainer, and was referred to Ashley. After 3 classes + boarding, I have only amazing experiences to report on. She is very organized, trust worthy, and extremely knowledgeable and talented in her work. I can text/​call her at anytime with questions or comments, and she is always very responsive and helpful.
Before training with Ashley, my dog would ferociously lunge at other dogs, making our walks quite stressful. I was debating on just teaching myself how to train my dog, how hard can it be right? After you-​tubing hours of training videos, I took away some things I thought were helpful, but not game-​changer worthy. However, after just one session with Ashley, it was obvious how much depth of practice, skill, and knowledge is required for correctional dog training. After one session with Ashley, walking my dog was a completely new and pleasant experience.

As soon as I made the decision to move back to Salt Lake City with my dog that I had adopted in Oregon, I started hunting for dog boarding in the area. The stress of moving into a new house and starting a new job were enough to handle without the stress of my ridiculously hyperactive dog. I had had a list of a million things that I wanted to train Bella on (not to jump on guests, not to pull me on leash, to be able to wait for me without Unilocaling consistently, etc.), so when I read about the «Calm Canine» package, I knew it was the perfect fit.
I got way more out of it than I expected. Not only has Ashley helped me understand the dog psychology behind my dog’s behaviors, she has also become my go-​to resource for information as well as dog-​boarding when I go on trips. Ashley has consistently and reliably answered any questions I have regarding Bella’s training and general behavior.
I highly recommend meeting with Ashley and learning a thing or million about your own dog.

My boyfriend and I adopted an eight week old puppy last December and our lives have not been the same since. We have two very friendly cats in our home and wanted a puppy so we could train her and have her grow up around the cats to hopefully live cohesively. While we love having a puppy we were not prepared for the havoc it can cause to a once peaceful home. The last straw was once again walking her in the neighborhood but now she lunged at every car, jogger, bicyclist etc that passed instead of just looking. She would not stop tracking and chasing the cats. She loves little children and became out of control excited at the sight of one among a few other behavior issues. Anyway, we were at our wits end on how to help her behave somewhat controlled. We watched Ceasar Milan videos, read books, google searched, asked questions and finally came here to Unilocal to find someone I felt would be able to help us with our puppy. Our girl is a good dog just an out of control brat so to speak who we realized had way too much freedom. Upon Ashleys first arrival into our home, our pup could sense Ashleys energy and her submission to Ashley was an amazing sight. Ashely walked in and went right to work while we watched in utter amazement. Ashley gave us instruction how to correct some of the behavior issues as well as gave us printed information and a suggested schedule to put our puppy on. I value all the knowledge Ashley has given us. Our puppy has had 3 training sessions with Ashley and the change in our home has been remarkable, it really has. The lessons spanned two weeks time as we were kind of in a time crunch with our pups spaying appointment coming up. I don’t know what else to say except I thank Ashley profusely for helping my boyfriend and I regain peace in our home. To see our puppy sleeping only a few feet from the cats as we all relax together and watch television is absolutely something I did not foresee happening in such a short time of training. We opted to have Ashley come to our home as we both work from home and can spend the time necessary on our puppy. Ashley maintains contact and is quick to answer questions thoroughly. I really cant thank her enough for the service she provides. I walked my pup around our neighborhood yesterday for the first time since training began just over two weeks ago. While she still looks at the joggers, cars, etc. she does not lunge or become over excited and out of control. The leash application Ashley showed us is something I had no idea would correct our pup so quickly. I have put in quite a lot of time in the homework as well though and it shows in such this short time. If you have no idea where to go as you have read all you could and watched all the puppy training videos possible, call Ashley. We joke she is the «Mary Poppins» of pooches.

Can we just talk about how invested Ashley is in your dogs happiness? I have a one year old pointer mix who was displaying some possessiveness issues when people would come to our house, had horrible leash manners, got overly excited in public places, and was consistently confused about his leadership and constantly stressed by that. He has been in Ashley’s program for three days and he’s a whole new dog! THREE DAYS! He walks by my side on the leash, he stays in his bed when we tell him to, and he’s learned an incredible amount of impulse control. And it is all thanks to Ashley helping me to learn to speak his language! The best part is he’s no longer stressed out all the time and he actually looks proud of himself! She has consistently gone above and beyond, takes the time to really care for my pup and me, calls and texts for updates on how training is going and even called me to wish me a happy birthday! I love Ashley and Bark and Biscuit!

Ashley came to train willow today and she was very responsive and apologetic about willows boarding experience (see previous review). She brought cute goodie bags for my two kids with crayons, papers, stickers and small stuffed puppies. She also offered a free training session. She has been texting occasionally to check up on willow and is happy to answer any questions.
I understand that sometimes things happen that are out of a person’s control and Ashley really has done her best to make the situation better. I can see that she cares a great deal about her customers, their dogs, and her business. She is doing her best and for me thats enough and I appreciate it.
As a trainer she is excellent and I can see that willow really responds to her methods. She will explain and review as many times as you want to be sure you’re doing it right.

Our pointer puppy loves Ashley, and so do we! We started with the 4 training sessions, which helped with his leash skills, and over excitement. He gets to hike with her once a week, we board him when we go out of town, and we also do pack walks. We’re so lucky to have found Ashley at Bark and Biscuit!

Ashley is really the best. She is always exceeding our expectations with her care for us and our dog. She understands our dog and truly cares for her. She is always there whenever we need help with training or boarding or even just general questions. She has truly made having a dog more fun than we could have imagined.
We have a 5 year old dog we named Addie because we thought she was ADD. She would never sit still. She was always getting into something or running away or barking. She was a sweet dog, but had pretty much every behavioral problem in the book and was always anxious. We were about to have a baby and were worried about how Addie would interact with the baby, so we called Bark and Biscuit.
After a few weeks of working with Ashley, Addie was like a different dog. People literally thought we gotten a different dog because she was so much more calm and well behaved. It allowed us to understand her needs better and that has allowed Addie to love us even more. She is the best dog in the world now and we owe that to Ashley. And she did not leave us on our own after the training process. She has been there any time anything has come up with Addie ever since.

Ashley rehabilitates dogs, trains people, and enhances quality of life for both people and dogs. I am so grateful to have found her and you will be too!
To give you a better sense of Ashley’s influence on my life, my story is below:
I am a first time dog owner. I chose a dog that couldn’t have been more difficult (well, he actually chose me, but that is another story). Oxford is very sensitive and highly reactive — the kind of dog that seems okay, until suddenly, without warning, he snaps. He’s nearly attacked my landlord, attacked most dogs he interacted with, and goes after runners. I knew we were in trouble after 1 week of seeing my 2 year old pup’s reactive behavior. I called Ashley and she has been saving the day every since.
Slowly but surely, Oxford has improved in magnificent ways. When I first got Oxford, my neighbor’s would say rude comments like, «geesh, he doesn’t mind well.» After just one month of training, my neighbor called me the «female dog whisperer.» I am no dog whisperer — Ashley is. My dog improved so much that my roommate started training his dog because my dog now behaves better than his dog. Whereas Oxford used to run after and prey on cats, he stays in a sit (despite his desire to eat it!). In regard to aggression towards other dogs, he became buddies with my friend’s dog and they even snuggled! He has gone on hikes with Ashley and her dog and has learned to stay calm in another dog’s presence. Whereas he used to reliably snap and chase runners, he stays in a sit or looks at me as we pass the runner.
Finally, I want to speak to those who don’t think they can afford dog training. I am a graduate student (i.e., I am broke). I put in what money I had because I knew my dog could be at risk for euthanasia. Just like we can put hot food on the table, we can surely find money to help our dogs live a happy life. I changed my lifestyle a bit and entered into dog training. I have never questioned a single penny I have spent with Ashley. Just call her, give it a month, and see for yourself that her services are worth much more than she asks for!
