Cathy’s Pet Salon & Spa

I have had many wonderful experiences with the staff at Cathhy’s. Brenda and Cassie LOVE my puppies and the dogs are always excited to go to their «Spa Day». Service is excellent and the cost is reasonable. Thank you!

We called and left a message on their machine on a Wed. early afternoon… looking for more information since we were considering them for grooming our 3 Yorkies. Their website is rather vague with their pricing and is not well laid out. Nobody returned our call Wed. or Thurs. morning. So, we called back and talked to Christi. We were told they had been closed Wed., yet their hours include Wednesdays. Christi is not a people person. The way she talked to us had us concerned about how our Yorkies would be treated. We decided to see if there were any reviews about «Cathy’s Pet Salon». Apparently this is the same place that was on South Salisbury Blvd. but is now on Mount Hermon Rd. We found some reviews where others also had concerns regarding the treatment of their fur-​babies. We took our Golden Retriever to Cathy’s many years ago & were very pleased, but that was when Cathy was working out of a house in Fruitland. After today’s conversation with Christi, my Yorkies will not be going there. We certainly hope her daughter treats dogs better than people, but from what we’ve read, we think not.

I do not recommend this groomer. I had great expectations for my cute little dog to be groomed at Cathy’s Pet Salon. Christy asked me to drop my dog off at 3:00 on Saturday promising that he would be ready to be picked up by 6:30. Then 6:30 turned into 7:00, then 8:30pm. When I showed up at 8:15 she yelled that she told me that he’d be ready by 8:30. When I asked to have him as is, she carried him out under one arm with him squirming to get away. She is extremely abrasive and rude, saying «I told you 8:30», do you think he’s the only dog that I groom? I’m here until 10:00″. The only thing that she had done in the way of grooming him in 5 hrs and 15 minutes was give him a bath. Did she really expect me to believe that she could complete the entire grooming process of a Maltese in 15 minutes? No, it’s not ok to drop my dog off at 3:00 and pick him up at 10:00pm just because you can’t manage your time properly. If Christy treats human customers as cruel as she treated me, imagine how a little dog is treated! She made sure I knew that her mother was the owner. I guess bad service and nepotism go hand in hand with this groomer. She may have job security but extremely poor customer service skills and certainly not a return customer!

Cathy’s Pet Salon was highly recommended to me, and I was really looking forward to getting my puppy in there for grooming. My puppy is 14 weeks old and just now starting leash and obedience training. The staff at Cathy’s do not have patience or tolerance for dogs who are not fully trained to behave on command. They actually drug him by his leash across the floor, like a mop, in front of me. We argued about that as the woman tried to justify her actions. I fully informed them that he is not leash trained yet and that we were working on it. She got a treat and led him on the leash after that. I should have removed my puppy immediately, but I thought the problem was resolved and maybe this woman was just a counter employee. I was wrong. When I went back to pick him up, they were calling him to come out of the back room on his own. Again, my puppy is only 14 weeks old. When he did not come out if the back on command, the lady got frustrated and told another employee to go get him from the back. Once again, they drug him by his leash out from the back and down the steps. I heard his body thump down the steps and watched him land sprawled out when he hit the ground. He was terrified of these women. Again, they tried to drag him across the floor until I called him and he came running to me. When I got him home he would not play. All he would do is lay beside me and whine. As for their work, he was bathed, but they messed his nails up bad. They cut some of them too short and they were bleeding. Other nails were split and fractured. One is cut at a really sharp angle. The lady assumed it was the first time my puppy had his nails clipped and said he fought against it. My puppy has actually had his nails trimmed twice before and allowed other groomers to do it with no problem. My final recommendation is that if you have a large dog, or one that 100% follows commands, Cathy’s Pet Salon may be a somewhat decent choice (as long as you don’t get your dog’s nails cut). But if you have a puppy, please do not subject him to their staff. The staff is way too aggressive and rough and should not be allowed to work with puppies. I’m giving this salon one star because Unilocal will not let me score them any lower.
