Rustic Glen Golf Course

Tee it high and let it fly at this track. Carved out of rolling farm land, Rustic Glen is a big hitter’s dream — wide fairways, very few fairway bunkers/​water hazards and manageable rough. The greens are fairly flat and roll well. With coupon programs, you can generally play this course for about $ 18-​$ 20 with a cart, which is a good, not great deal. The staff is very friendly and informed and there is a driving range — two more factors in the Pro column.

Came here after a recent groupon deal. The management was really nice as we checked in and even walked us through the hole layout so that we wouldn’t get confused later. It was as uncrowded as you’d expect a Monday morning to be. They still use gas golf carts and this proved to be one of the more frustrating aspects of the day. The majority of the time, when you pushed the gas pedal, nothing happened. We negotiated this problem with a series of stamps on the pedal, awkward wiggles nudging the cart forward, and sometimes even getting out to give it a little push.
The course itself is in ok shape. If you ventured off the fairways, many times the ground became patchy. It’s hard to hit your second shot from a dirt hole. The fairways themselves are very narrow and the thick rough on the sides can make it difficult to find your ball. Even the greens were a bit rough here and there. I didn’t always trust it to roll true.
That being said, for the reasons below, I think this is the perfect course to teach new golfers who don’t have much course experience or aren’t quite ready for a tougher layout. Almost every hole is straight ahead. The greens are slow, large, and the majority of them are pretty flat. There is almost no water, and there are very few bunkers, most of which, aren’t placed in ways that really come into play. You will find no surprises here.
The course also plays very short. The men’s tees are only 6,000 yards, so I found myself playing from the back tees, which only brought my total to 6,400. As a result, you can really attack this course if you want to. I made some par 5s in two, and had the chance for several birdie puts.
Overall it’s still a decent little course. I just feel that I’ve outgrown the design and need something more than just straight down the tubes with little obstacle. For others, this may be just what the doctor ordered to excel.

The Rustic Glen golf course of Saline offers you a fun game in a picturesque setting. When you’re up on the Sixth tee, you have one of the best views of the Saline valley! The clubhouse is very nice, offering draft beer and simple grilled fare. It’s easy to stop in between nines, and during the summer, there’s a beverage cart out on the course.
The greens are smooth and moderately fast. The fairways are green, with only a few weeds in them.
