In-Shape: Salinas Northeast

I currently belong to a different Gym, they don’t have a swimming pool, my kid just started swimming in high school. So I stopped to see the the prices for membership. I was greated by Alfonso «A REAL TUFF MACHO MEN». He was the most rude unprofessional and verrrry pushy person. I turned around and started to walk away. I told him that I didnt like pushy people. His ANSWER WAS «HAVE A GOOD DAY GET OUT» I will never go back or even try to join the gym. I didn’t even see the inside of the gym. VERY BAD COCKY ATTITUDE.

I am extremely unhappy with this place with the exception of a few good employees. Machines are constantly down and the jacuzzi has been down for over a month. My hope is to go to a gym where it’s more than a social dating site and for real people trying to get a workout. Machine are always blocked by people just standing around visiting or looking at their phone and holding a machine hostage. They seem to be more concerned with adding members to the already over crowded facility. It’s a shame…

Almost everyday I come here the sauna does not work or it only half works. I let the front desk know and they never know what to do about it. I get a good work out here and would like to use a functioning sauna after my workouts. I have knee problems and i use the therapy because it really helps. Please do something about this. And not just temporary fixes. Please and thank you

I like this gym, the guy who used to work Saturday mornings was the best. I been going here for 3 years. It’s in a nice area, can get packed, parking is hard.
I like the equipment and the upgrades & remodels are great.
Some of the staff could use customer service training. Most of them are great and greet the customers.
The sales staff are great too.
The front desk staff are the issue. They don’t say hello or greet you.
Lately, there is no one in the front and this causes a big line to get in, especially during peak times.
This is the customer service I suggest they need help in.
I like this gym a lot, however, I expect a community feel at my gym. Sometimes they don’t make you feel welcomed. It’s a shame for new customers.
Overall, great to work-​out.

I really enjoy exercising at this gym. Having Ashley as my personal trainer has pushed me so much. She keeps things fresh and exciting, yet challenging. I also attend Ashley’s Smash Kamps (small group boot camps) and I notice that her positive attitude and encouragement helps me push myself more than if I was working out alone.

Ashley Stewart has given me personal attention in my training sessions. She is very knowledgeable and answers all my questions. Ashley is always very encouraging and modifies exercises if I’m not comfortable. I thoroughly enjoy working with her, and I definitely recommend Ashley to anyone looking to improve their fitness!

I started In Shape in September of 2015. When I sat down for my consultation with Doug, my body fat and overall weight put me in the danger zone!!! I have to admit I was scared… Right away I signed up for a personal trainer! I was recommend to Ashley… she’s my god sent. I’m talking about a trainer that gives 110% of her time on me!
Since I’ve been working with Ashley and going to the gym I can actually run now for the first time in 20yrs! And I feel absolutely amazing!!!

I like this place, but the TV on the cardio machine are programmed horribly. Everyone around me are like WTF and only 2 channels are good. The Spanish station and world news.
Update. Change from 3 to 5. Mark the In shape manager contacted me within a hour from this post. He explain what is going on with his system. Thank you Mark for contacting me. That show alot of professionalism.
For those who have that iphone app that changes those stations. Please stop messing with everyone viewing.

Worst customer service, towels are older than my great grandmother, pieces of the towel were all over my face when I finish working out, the locker room reminds me of high school, stinks there, they have way too many tvs at the cardio area, seriously, there are Always machines broken, I struggle to go to the gym, and then seeing all this? I need the «24h gym»

I joined this gym after all the construction was over and so far it is meeting all my needs. The place is kept clean and I feel the workout areas are reasonably spacious. There is a great variety and selection of modern equipment. As for the management and the staff I sense that they are putting forth a lot of effort into good customer service. They are constantly providing opportunities to get feedback from their clientele to establish a line of communication. I also signed up for personal training for the first time and I am impressed with the trainers they have on staff — especially Marco, who is the one I am training with right now. They are professional, highly certified, and readily available to help you.

Nice gym. Front desk employees are cool. Trainers and management are also cool. Only reason I’m here is because it’s a 2 minute walk from my house. Overal, I’m happy and can’t complain.

One of my favorite gyms! Great staff and exercise equipment. I’m really into weightlifting, and this gym has got some serious weight to throw around!

I really like the convenience of having this gym close to my house and being able to meet up with my family and having a place to workout together. The gym itself is well kept and cleaned. I will say that they have a very awesome workout space and a great variety of machines.
However, I think that if gym members knew some basic gym etiquette, like respecting the space, picking up after themselves, putting the weights back on the rack (not near other weight machines, not randomly where they finished their workout, not in their gym bag to take home), as well as respected personal space while people are using the machines, this gym wouldn’t be so bad.
I think that if new members were required to watch a very short proper gym etiquette rules video, followed by a short quiz, and then they actually exercised those simple gym etiquette rules that they learned, then this In-​Shape location could have a higher chance of being an awesome place to workout.
Also, some of the staff might not be too clear with communication, or may sometimes be too busy to help, which could lead to some customer issues and dissatisfaction, yet I can tell that they are still trying to do the best that they can to make sure that the gym members are happy and satisfied.
I spoke with the morning front desk lead, Maria, about some of my issues and she was very helpful with trying to make sure that my issues were addressed and really showed that she cares about not only mine, but as well as all others’ gym members’ satisfaction with our In-​Shape gym memberships. A couple of the issues that I spoke to her about were that I couldn’t find any 5 – 8 lb dumbbells, and the other was that I noticed a lot of gym members not putting the equipment away. She apologized for this and was also sure to let the district manager, Mark, know of my issues.
Mark, the District Manager, soon later personally called me and also apologized for the issues that I have had. They were both very nice, and I really appreciated them not only showing genuine concern about my dissatisfaction, but as well as offering some solutions to make sure that I enjoy my workout and membership at this In-​Shape location.

Just finished a frustrating workout this Sunday morning. A mess. Dumbbells, barbells and kettle all over the gym, except where they are supposed to be. Two to three salespeople sitting in their cubicles waiting to find more clients. Couldn’t they take ten minutes now and then and replace equipment so clients could have a productive workout? This place is deteriorating. I hope someone at corporate takes notice. Perhaps this will help.

I’ve been a member of InShape Health Clubs since the Monterey location was established. Because of my job I cover a wide territory and the type of membership I signed up for gives me the opportunity to visit various locations in my daily travels.
I’m writing a review on this particular location because of the improvements and progress it’s made in the past year. I read some of the other reviews and while I would’ve agreed with them about a year ago, I am thoroughly impressed with this location. Just as every «remodel» it does take time and even though it was annoying during that time, the end result was well worth it. They have a new huge functional training area, battle ropes and tons of free weights. As silly as this sounds I even like the Skylights with natural lightning. Lobby with wifi is a plus too! I’m keen on things like that and cleanliness which this gym actually meets all my needs.
I was given a tour by the manager, Mark (not sure of his last name), who was very friendly and thorough. The staff at the front desk are very inviting and even smiled which isn’t common at other locations.

This place has been in remodeling for the last three years, oh wait! Yes, since it opened!!!
The staff is rude and careless! !!
The equipment is old and a lot of it doesn’t event work or is missing pieces.
The free weights are always scattered all over, and the employees never even bother to put the equipment back where it belongs.
And watcht out not to get sick! They never bother to disinfect the cardio machines, it’s disgusting!
Watch out for the «sale managers,» they’ll always try to up sell you a membership, promising cheaper rates. Do the math yourself and don’t let them rip you off or sign you in three year contracts. IF YOU TELL THEM YOU’LL CALL THE CORPORATION DIRECTLY, THEY WILL GET YOU THE RATE AND LENGTH OF CONTRACT YOU WANT! It is actually much better to deal with corporation over the phone than the people at the gym, who work for a commission. Corporation #209−472−2190

Horrible Customer Service. I was given a couple gift cards for a free training session and monthly gym access and was told they did not validate them but could issue me a 7 day pass to try out the gym. Really? Why issue these passes to current members if they are not going to validate them. I took a tour of the gym and seemed like great equipment, great atmosphere, but very poor customer service. I would rather stay where I’m at now.

Losing points because I was signed up with the promise of 24 hours… But their hours are changing… Not cool

The worst gym etiquette I have ever seen in my 10 years of working out. The free weight room is a disaster. Dumbbells everywhere on the floor. Nobody re racks there weights. Inshape staff get ahold of your gym please. Start enforcing the rules
