Sandcastle Café and Grill is the local’s favorite! We have been locally owned and in business for over 25 years and are growing strong. Sandcastle is known for the breakfast buffet and of course you can order your favorites off of the menu too. We have local seafood and buy local produce whenever possible. Our bloody mary mix is even homemade and the best on the island!

History

Established in 1989.

Locally owned by Tim and Melissa Wellford since the opening in April of 1989. Serving breakfast in the golden isles for over 25 years!

Seriously, how do you not know how to cook eggs over medium? Had to send back cause whites were not cooked, server asked if I wanted «hard eggs?». Said no… Got hard eggs anyway. Won’t return

My husband & his Dad love this place. When Pop visits us, they go every morning, before going fishing! They love to eat outside, enjoy the sights & sounds. Plenty of wonderful menu choices or you can do the breakfast buffet! Need a Mimosa? They have it! Want fruit plate, it’s here!
Lunches are also great here, so many choices.
We have always had friendly, courteous service and never have we been disappointed by the food or the staff.

We had breakfast here, and although it’s not a fancy place they have what they do down pat. The bacon was expertly crispy along with the waffles and grits. Yum! Their buffet is fab, and if you like mimosas strong, they do them right!

Unbelievable, we came here based on on breakfast reviews and they had stopped breakfast service (fair, it was 11:15 :) and we started out already disappointed… Ended up staying for lunch menu and have to say it was the best blackened fish I have ever had BY FAR… Perfectly seasoned and portion… My wife had the salmon blt and also loved it. Everything was on point and even surprised our boys with sundaes at the end. This was the finest meal we had during our trip to St. Simons and Jekyll Island. Just awesome!

Hands down the best blackened flounder sandwich I have ever eaten coupled with the creamy cucumber salad and I am smitten. Still talking about that lunch days later. My son exclaimed that there was more bacon on his burger than hamburger!

Great experience 2 years in a row. This is our second visit to the area and to Sand Castle. We were very happy both times.
My daughter and I shared the seafood platter and there was more than enough food for two ~ fresh fish with unusual sides. I enjoyed the creamed spinach and she had the fried cabbage. You just can’t go wrong with what you order there
My husband had the flounder and he was very pleased as well. We also ordered the seafood soup in a bowl and were thrilled. It had large pieces of shrimp and crab it was one of the best soup I’ve ever had.

Great greasy spoon breakfast spot. I ordered the hash with English muffin, poached egg, and cheese. It was good but I would have preferred a crispier hash but it was flavorful nonetheless. My husband ordered a Croissant with egg, bacon, and cheese that he enjoyed. The portions are large enough to share. Wish the restaurant had a few healthier options other than a fruit plate but overall hit the spot for a regulation southern breakfast.

LOVE this place for breakfast! I have TWO favorites here — FANTASTIC biscuits & gravy … OR salmon & spinach salad, if I come too late for breakfast — which is SO good, I often miss breakfast on purpose! Diner atmosphere & it’s not a big place, so it can be a wait, but it’s RIGHT next to the pier, so just take a stroll while you wait.

The Sandcastle breakfast buffet is always a must when we visit St. Simon’s. The French toast is absolutely delicious, and my husband loves the corn beef hash. The cheese grits are nice and cheesy, and this visit they had awesome cinnamon rolls. There’s fresh fruit, oj, bacon, biscuits, gravy (the one thing I can say I don’t actually like here), sausage, and eggs. A little pricey at $ 10 something a person, but a yummy splurge we always enjoy.

Came to Sandcastle for breakfast on a Sunday. We were early so there wasn’t a large crowd.
My husband enjoyed the breakfast buffet and I had a croissant sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese.
My toddler had eggs and a a muffin.
The muffin was so good I bought two more (blueberry)
The service was quick. The waitress was pleasant but not real friendly.
It was a little on the pricey side ($ 30 for breakfast) but it was very good and I will probably go back.

Once again Unilocal has not failed me. The Sandcastle is an excellent place for breakfast. I had the buffet, and was reaaly surprised at the quality and taste. The buffet comes with made to order pancakes, french toast or waffles. The wait staff was wonderful coming by like every 5 minutes to check on me. Also 10.50 for tourist town buffet, good value.

Love this little spot off the interstate at Saint Simons Island. Fresh and delicious sweet tea, hot and fresh crab balls loaded with crab meat! He had the seafood platter (flounder, shrimp, crab cake) with fries and fresh sliced tomatoes… all delicious! I had the catch of the day… a flounder sandwich with three big pieces of fresh flounder. Too much to eat, but will take one piece home! Good stop… friendly service, our server, Austin, was extra friendly and helpful! Definitely will recommend!
