STAY AWAY!!! I made a poor choice by purchasing this deal from
. The company damaged my BMW key slot due to their employee’s mechanical inexperience and negligence. Company refused to be responsible. I purchased their service for $ 79 for a Gold detailing package ($ 174 value) from
. I took my BMW for service on Oct. 20, 2015. After 3 hrs. of service, I found out that my ignition key didn’t stay in its key slot/​it kept popping out/​falling off when I tried to start the engine. There was nothing wrong with my ignition switch/​key slot before. I had to take my BMW to my dealer (Motorwerks-​Bloomington) to get it fixed. The dealer also informed me that it happened from someone’s yanking the ignition switch or pulling the key out improperly. It cost me almost $ 500. I contacted the employee named Tod and also the owner named John. John was so RUDE and also refused to take a responsibility for damage.

I went here with a Groupon recently. It did take 2 months for me to get in for an appointment here. I think they have limited hours and only do a few cars per day. The location is attached to a gas station, right next to the carwash. I’ve never seen something like that, but with that knowledge, was easy to locate.
It was going to take about 2 hours for the car to be cleaned. Nearby there are a lot of shops, and restaurants to wait. In 6 years of owning my car, I have never had it detailed. My car turned out looking so fresh and so clean! I think the young men here did a great job on my car.
One thing to note, don’t plan on driving your car the rest of the day. It needs to dry, so bring a towel or plastic bag to sit on to drive home! Tips are welcomed.

We dropped it off and they were going to keep it parked overnight so they could detail it first thing in the morning. About a half and hour later we were walking around the neighborhood and spotted what looked like our car being driven. So we went to the bp on ford pkwy to see if our car was there, and it WAS NOT. The two employees pulled up about a half hour later, one of them had a grocery bag. They lied to us and said that the car was parked around the corner and they were pulling it around to park it now. The kid told us some sob story about how he has kids and how he needs this job. I am all about a man who works for his family, but please don’t give me this story when you get caught red handed driving my car around like its your brand new toy. They did offer us a free detail service, but I will NEVER come back, and neither will many in the Highland Park neighborhood when they hear about this.

Horrid… what did they do … I have swirls all over my car … I had it detailed and picked it up just after it rained and saw many areas they missed on the exterior … Wax left not polished … I pointed these areas out and the guy took a cloth and wiped them off …
This place is awful don’t waste your money here …
My car was in better shape before the premium package … Also found some mysterious scratches on my front bumper that were not there prior but can’t prove it …

It was difficult to schedule an appointment due to having to leave a message on someone’s phone and then they return your phone call. They were able to squeeze me in to an appointment sooner. However when I showed up to my appointment, they didn’t have me on the schedule, despite leaving me a message to remind me of my appointment time the day prior. They were able to squeeze me into the schedule that day, however, they did a poor job for the $ 99 «platinum» package deal. In addition, I had to pay extra for my larger vehicle and they did not even clean the trunk. They also didn’t clean my glove compartment, having told me to take everything out of it. They also only cleaned one of my headlights and showed me the good one at check out, but I didn’t realize it until I got home that the other headlight was not cleaned. When I showed them scuff marks that were left, they just tried wiping it with a towel and said it wouldn’t come off, but I paid for it to get buffed so obviously buffing was not done. I just felt that if I’m paying for my vehicle to get detailed, they should pay attention to the details. Very kind people, but disappointed with the work and I would recommend trying somewhere else.

I had a good experience here. Contrary to earlier comments, it’s not difficult to find. Most importantly, they treated my beloved first year Miata kindly. Thoroughly vacuumed and Armorall-​ed in the appropriate places. Buffing/​waxing was well done. No, it couldn’t make 26 year old paint look brand new, but they did their best. They respected my request for no chemicals on the car seats and definitely weren’t trying to guilt me into a bigger tip. I’d come here again, if I didn’t have to kill 3 – 4 hours in the area without a loaner car.

I’m another one of those people who made the poor choice to get sucked into a Groupon Deal. The reviews on Groupon were stellar, so I didn’t even bother to look for Unilocal reviews until after I made my purchase. Aaand, my car smelled like hot shit so I figured, «Eh, how bad can it be?»
I purchased a Silver detailing package which is a Full Complete Interior Detail (according to their website). I had a few spots I was keeping an eye on so that I could tell how well they did their job. At first glance everything smelled great and looked fine. Here’s the breakdown of why this place is a waste of money.
–The handle to my doors were filled with water they hadn’t sucked out.
–The areas around my E-​brake, which is in my center console, weren’t touched. The sides of my center console where the armrest is weren’t touched. When I say «weren’t touched» I mean that I could clearly see my dry winter skin still chilling out on the arm rest. Maybe it was fast food crumbs, hard to say.
— The spots I was eyeing were still there, untouched.
Was it wrong of me to keep an eye on certain areas so I could judge their performance? Hell to the naw. My basset hound drooled all over the top edge of my back seat, on the upholstery. That shit was in plain site and thick as a pancake. It was never touched.
–As I was noticing the furry pancake they neglected to even moisten, I realized they hadn’t done anything in the back of my car. At all. I have a hatchback, it’s not like you can’t see back there.
I suppose I got half of a detail. Can I have the other half of my money back?
Needless to say, it was a complete waste of money. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Ever.

Purchased the platinum package on groupon, disappointed with service overall. Supposed to include a trunk shampoo and definitely doesn’t look done nor did they get the trunk vacuumed well and actually missed a few areas! I spent 15 minutes there using their vacuum to finish the trunk. Looked at the interior, overall good vacuum but when you start looking at the difficult areas to reach like between the seat and center console, when you open the door and look down by the seat adjustments and infront of the seats on the floors, not done. Wiped down center console but didn’t clean out the cup holders, ect. I was going to call the manager but one of his employees called him because «they had other cars». The manager was not what I would call helpful to try and immediately solve the issue. He acknowledged I wasn’t satisfied and had the employee do the vacuuming but wanted me to come back at a later time «because they have other vehicles». You know it’s sad when they have a 63% satisfaction rate on a special. Two stars because what they did do without missing looked nice. However, I will not be going back at all.

BEYOND TERRIBLE. In April 2015, I bought a Groupon for auto detailing. You’re not able to schedule online, so the ONLY way to make an appointment is to call them. They NEVER (I repeat, NEVER) answer their phone. I called 4 times starting in May, leaving nice and detailed messages. They NEVER called back. So today, after making 4 attempts and giving up, I called Groupon to complain and get a refund. They indicated «there were other complaints.»
I think this is a SCAM. They sell a zillion Groupon and Living Social deals, then just never respond, never have to do the work, and pocket the money. Based on the reviews of their work on this site, they do crappy work anyway.
I lodged a complaint against them on the Better Business Bureau website. THEN I got them to reach out to me, with them HARASSING me repeatedly via text message. These guys are scum.
Don’t waste your time and money.

Never again… I used a groupon for a gold detail package and I don’t feel that it was worth it… I think my car was vacuumed and briefly wiped down on the inside. Definitely will go elsewhere next time for a detail service

DO NOT buy this living social deal. Not only did they do a bad job detailing my car, they also damaged the fender and hood. I agreed to allow them to take it to a private party for repairs and they only fixed part of the damage. When I called the owner, his professional response was to scream at me. I have now turned it over to my insurance company.

This was hands down the worst detail I’ve ever experienced. I would consider my car well above average in the clean department and they took many shortcuts. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle I was walked around my the exterior to go over what was done. I pointed out bug stains and dust/​dirt smudges that I was rubbing off with my hand. He grabbed a rag and rubbed out what I pointed out. When I opened the door to look at the interior he asked if I paid the tax already. I stated no and he informed me I owed $ 6. I gave him $ 10 and he asked me if I needed change… I replied yes and I got the feeling he was pushing me out before we went over the interior.
At this point he marched over and grabbed my four ones and didn’t say a word when giving me change. No have a good day, so disappointed I walked away to my car. Now is when it gets interesting…
As I walk back to my car, I hear screaming and swearing back in the garage. I then realize he’s screaming about me not tipping and I hear insults directed at me. I then turn around and ask if he’s directing this at me and he walks around behind one of the cars. I stood appalled for a minute at how this whole experience went down.
I contacted Groupon and they were as appalled as me when hearing of this experience. Also, the interior was mediocre at best, only addressing all the very noticeable areas, still leaving dirt smudges on my door panels, shoddy vacuuming and many miswed spots. I strongly advise searching another business for a car detail.

Bought an interior detailing package but can’t see this is the detailing work. It was a clean job instead and not a good one. They missed quite a bit. I had to vaccum and remove some of the stains after their work myself. I can’t recommend this place.

Terrible job. Employee solicited a tip and also mentioned an ‘extra dirt’ fee of $ 20 (even though no such provision is mentioned on the groupon’. Also a tax was charged on top of this with no receipt. Employee also misplaced items inside the car and made it difficult to retrieve it since they are only open during the day when normal people go to work. The session was booked for a 2 hour slot (and booked out for 2 weeks usually), and so I assumed that a detailed thorough job would be done. Instead the employee got done with it in half an hour and did a shoddy job of it. Plenty of uncleaned spots in the car. The owner also tries to pedal you different services on top of it, and it’s very hard to schedule an appointment because they don’t pick up the phone ever. Also false advertising on the groupon, they mention it’s a discounted price from $ 89 to$ 39 on the groupon, but the walk-​in price is still $ 39, therefore they’re clearly running a fake promtional scam that groupon/​living social shouldn’t be promoting.

Got my car done a little over a week ago and the dashboard is still beautiful and shiny! I am so impressed with this company and their awesome attitudes! There is no doubt I will be back and recommending this place to my friends/​family! Thank’s guys!

DO NOT HAVE YOUR CAR DETAILED HERE! You’ll regret it, just as I regret it. I should’ve listened to the Unilocal reviews — they’re spot on. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED. Damaged part of my car and won’t pay for it. Lesson learned.
In August 2014, I purchased a Groupon for Midwest Detailing and Auto Reconditioning and made an appointment for the following month. On September 29, 2014, I dropped off my car for an appointment on September 30. After picking up my car on September 30, I inspected my car and realized they broke the spray nozzle that connects to my windshield wiper fluid hose, and I’m currently unable to wash my windows. This may sound trivial, but the horrible customer service I received coupled with the fact that they won’t return my call or pay for the repair to the damage they caused is why I’m reporting this business.
The following is a detailed description of the events that took place with this «business,» the terrible «customer service» I received, and the problem with my vehicle after their service.
When I dropped my car off the day before my scheduled appointment, I was told to leave a note with my keys saying what time I’d be back to pick up my car the next day; I wrote 5:30 pm. When I called the next day to check in on my car, I said I’d be there at 5:30 pm to pick up my car and was told that wouldn’t be a problem (I was told their business hours are 8 – 6 p.m.).
I received a call the day of service at 4:45 pm from their workers saying they were leaving for the day and were leaving my car keys with the gas station next door. I asked them not to leave, as I was uncomfortable leaving my keys at a random gas station when I didn’t know them. I was told to call their owner and that they were still leaving for the day, even though I specifically said I was coming in at 5:30 and their shop closes at 6.
When speaking to the owner, John Carlson, I asked him to not leave my keys with the gas station and that I’d be there very soon. He said it was fine, the gas station is trustworthy and that sometimes his guys just «leave early.» I told him that may be the case, but my business wasn’t with the gas station. I let the owner know I’d like to go over my car with someone there in case I had questions and that I was uncomfortable with my keys being left somewhere else as that is my personal property.
He proceeded to yell at me, saying I was untrustworthy of them, I was a horrible customer and they were still leaving my keys at the gas station. He kept saying «You’re the only person who has ever had a problem with this!» I calmly asked him to not raise his voice at me and to treat me with the respect a customer deserves. I also let him know he never made me aware that my keys would be left at the gas station if the workers would leave early, and if he had, I would have made sure to come even earlier to get my car to make sure someone was there. He then said in a very sarcastic and extremely rude manor, «Well then from now on I’ll make sure to tell everyone that I’ll leave their keys at the gas station because Bridget said so. You can just grab your keys from them and get on with your life!» He yelled «You’re just going to try to find something wrong with your car, I know it!» I realized the conversation was going nowhere and I wasn’t going to sit on the phone while someone I just paid to detail my car was screaming at me. I thanked him and let him know I will never return there again.
When I picked up my car, I gave it a very detailed inspection and discovered they had broken the plastic nozzle that connects my windshield spray hose to the spray nozzle on my passenger’s side. I then left a detailed voice message with the owner of Midwest Detailing letting him know what they broke and that I’d be reporting him to the Better Business Bureau. He did not return my call.
I’ve never been so insulted in my life and will NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SCAM of a business to anyone. I work in the customer service industry — I’ve seen plenty of bad customer experiences but I’ve never received such poor customer service. I’ve reported them to Groupon and the Better Business Bureau.

Bought the living social deal for platinum package. Interior is very clean, engine looks nice and clean but car smells funky and check engine light came on as a result of the steam cleaning. Eventually the light went off but caused a scare when i picked up to potential engine issues. Seats were soaking wet at pick up. I kept windows open for a day and put fans on seats. 4 days later the car smells funky not fresh and clean. Also im not sure how much work they did on exterior. Still have the same minor scratches on doors that i thought would get buffed out.
Scheduling is difficult as only contact number is a cell phone for owner and he never answers. You need to leave a message for call back.

Overall, I think they did a good job. The place is a small two deep garage stall next to a gas station. It was really hard to find. Some signage would be helpful. The two guys working there seemed to be working pretty hard, and it was a hot day. The only complaint was that they got Armour All on the windows of my car. I had to take some vinegar water and really rub hard to get it off. Otherwise, I am happy with it.

I bought this as part of a living social deal and got the platinum package — interior, exterior, and engine detailing. I’m really picky about my car and was frustrated that I didn’t have the tools, space, or time to do this myself, so my expectations were pretty high.
After leaving a voicemail to schedule an appointment, the owner called me back the next day and we scheduled my day for about a month later. I probably could have gotten an earlier time, but they need your car for the whole day if you get the platinum package. The shop looks like it’s a converted car wash stall next to a gas station. I dropped my car off at 8AM and went to a coffee shop and the library to do some studying. They didn’t get around to working on my car till after 12:30 and it was done by 4, so it takes no more than 3.5 hours. Not sure why they didn’t just schedule by the half day.
Overall, it’s kind of a one-​size-​fits-​all approach. They did a decent job on the exterior, although they weren’t able to get out all the little sap rings on the hood (admittedly I’m to blame in part for not getting it taken care of sooner), and they completely ignored the bumper, which was really faded from the sun. There are also still some bugs on the lower bumper. He also rolled down the windows about 2 inches, so now there’s a 2″ strip at the bottom of each window where it didn’t get cleaned. The engine compartment detailing involves covering every plastic piece, housing, hose, and even some metal pieces with something that makes it look shiny. And here I thought they were going to remove the valve cover and buff it to a nice sheen. For the interior they basically clean and vacuum everything and then cover everything in scotchguard, which makes it look really shiny and plasticy, and it feels tacky or even slippery depending on how much it has dried. I don’t mind it for the dash, but why did they have to cover my nice leather steering wheel, shift knob, shift knob boot cover, and PEDALS with it? Seriously, the pedals were slippery on my way home. I tried wiping it off with Goo Gone and that helped. I’m really hoping that the scotchguard is better once it dries fully, or else that it wears off soon. I’m also pretty sure they scotchguarded the leather seats instead of applying a leather conditioner.
All in all I think I got what I paid. I’m sure many less-​picky people will be perfectly happy with what they get. They’re very nice and friendly and do a good job, I just wish I had specified to only scotchguard the dash and to apply leather conditioner to the seats and steering wheel. Next time I’ll take my $ 125 and get some good car detailing supplies and do it myself.
