Legacy Chocolates

Legacy Chocolates is a great addition to the skyway in St.Paul. Their pour-​over coffee is fabulous. Their baked goods are delicious as well. I haven’t tried their truffles yet, but that will be next! Make sure to stop by this unique gem located in the Pioneer Endicott Building.

It is such a treat to have Legacy in the skyway. Their chocolate treats are peerless, and they offer a variety of fresh hand-​brewed coffee that people in my office rave about. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive.

A great option for coffee, chai, chocolate, and cake in the downtown Saint Paul skyway. The staff is so friendly and clearly takes pride in the store. I got a hot chai — they make their own and you can definitely tell from the flavor.

I love Legacy Chocolates! Wonderful staff and great beverages. On nice days try their chocolate milk shake, so delicious! I also love their white chocolate carrot cake!

This is a simple, yet very elegant chocolate shop. It has a high-​end feel to it, but the prices are right. I wouldn’t be surprised if the shop had a Michelin star or two.

Legacy has delicious chocolates and the best pour over coffee! What makes this place special though, is the service. They always take time to explain flavors to me and ask me about my day. Truly a «feel good» experience every time I’m there!

There is nothing in this chocolate shop that isn’t delightful. Truffles, chocolate bark, cakes, brownies, cocoa, coffee, ice cream… all fantastic. And the service is fantastic, too. You can tell that the folks here love what they do. Can’t decide what to get? Their recommendations are super helpful.
If you need to butter someone up, here’s your place. ;) Legacy is my go-​to spot when I need to pick up a special «thank you» gift for a friend. The truffles are always received with rave reviews.

Tucked away in a sleepy downtown building, I was pleasantly surprised by the warmth and deliciousness waiting at Legacy Chocolates! The staff were SUPER knowledgeable and friendly — they even offered recommendations specific to me (dairy free) and my friends (omnivores with varying tastes) that were SPOT ON.
All I can say is YUM, and that I will certainly be back for more!

Awesome selection of home made chocolates. I have bought some for myself and for family. My family is very particular with chocolate and they love the Truffles! I have yet to try their coffee but it looks exceptional. Staff is top notch. Will become a regular.

You guys, I changed jobs and hence moved from DT St Paul to DT Minneapolis. In every other aspect this is awesome. DT Minneapolis is FAR superior to DT St Paul, in every way except one: DT Minneapolis does not have Legacy Chocolates. It is my second week here in Minneapolis and I am dreaming of the decadence that is their chocolate brownie. It is a bit pricey at $ 3.25 or so (or $ 3.75? I don’t even know because TAKE ALL MY MONEY). A brownie with their own house made chocolate ganache in a generous layer on the top. Their truffles which is amazing and comes in 3 or 4 different chocolate ratios. They sell their truffles piece by piece or you can make your own box of 6 or 9 or 12. They have chocolate syrup they make and sell, small batch that is meant for you to melt in the microwave and pour over your ice cream but I confess, it never makes it to the ice cream. Or the microwave. I just eat it straight out of the container with a spoon. The powers that be at Legacy needs to just open a store here in Minneapolis. That is all there is to it, obvs.

I found this little shop while trying to not get lost in the St Paul skyway. I needed caffeine and chocolate so I chose the dark chocolate bark with espresso beans and it was then that I became a big fan of Legacy Chocolates.
The people working always seem genuinely happy to be there and are friendly and helpful. Since my first trip I’ve also tried a Mexican Brownie and a Cream Cheese Caramel Brownie and now I want ALL THE BROWNIES. The chocolate they’re using in their concoctions is truly amazing. I love dark chocolate but it can sometimes skew too bitter but not here. It’s rich and decadent but perfectly balanced.
They have a large assortment of individually packaged truffles (I have yet to give them a try) and I don’t drink coffee but I heard their pour-​over coffee is incredible.

I had a short notice dinner recently and if you know me, that means there must be dessert involved. Since I didn’t have time to prepare anything, it was the perfect opportunity to finally check out Legacy.
They are located in the skyway of downtown St. Paul and can be a little challenging to get to. Make sure you pay your meter even if you’re only stopping in for a second, you’ll get a ticket otherwise. Trust me.
The staff was very helpful without being overbearing, thoroughly explaining the different flavors and cocoa percentages which is sure to please anyone from light milk to the most bittersweet dark. They also have a selection of brownies, cookies, Seb Joe’s ice cream and coffee.
The truffles though. They’re the best and that’s why you go. Velvet smooth and rich. These are high quality truffles without the needless decorations and adornments. Simply damn good truffles.

Thanks to my job this past year, I have spent several weeks in St. Paul. Because two of those weeks were during colder, winter months, I was advised to avoid leaving the skywalk when I went out for lunch, coffee, or anything else. A few near-​by skywalk retailers were not open in 2013, when my co-​workers first began staying in St. Paul for work, making the trek for coffee or food longer and more generic (Caribou, for example). By Fall 2014, when I began my one-​year term, the closer retailers had opened. One of those retailers is Legacy Chocolates.
To start, the location is perfect: I work (ed) for the court, and Legacy is basically around the corner of the court on the skywalk system. The walk is no more than five minutes, which makes quick coffee/​sweet runs easy. Coffee is not Legacy’s specialty, but they do serve it quickly, pour-​over style, and in large cups. They also have a nice variety of light– to dark roasts, which I appreciate; sometimes you need a bigger caffeine kick than other times.
The specialty, obviously, is the sweets. From tarty lemon bars, to decadent (HUGE) slices of German chocolate cake, to chocolate truffles ranging from around 40% to 100% cacao, Legacy has it all. All the good are house made (you can see them at work through the windows), and they are damn delicious. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but I couldn’t help buying a treat most visits.
Last, the owners (Lorraine and Mark) are small-​business scale, having moved to St. Paul recently, though I can’t remember where they were before. They are great, friendly folks and are great at what they do. Go and support your local business (and your even-​more-​local sweet tooth)!

Legacy Chocolate is a gem of a place! The hand made chocolates are the stuff that chocolate dreams are made of. The coffee and baked goods are equally divine. The owner and his wife are very knowledgable and helpful. This is a must visit while in St Paul if you are visiting or a resident. It’s also in a beautiful building that has a couple other fun places to check out.

Legacy Chocolates is a 100%. My mom and I were visiting Minnesota and stumbled upon this gem. We were greeted right away by, who I guessed to be, the owner. His knowledge of chocolate and his products was amazing and he took such pride in his work which he rightfully should. The chocolate was the best chocolate I have ever had. The tones and notes were evident. The flavor danced beautifully about my tongue. I give Legacy Chocolates an A+++. Definitely recommend stopping in.
