History

Established in 1885.

Bachman’s has been in business since 1885, when founder Henry Bachman, Sr., planted potatoes, lettuce, onions, and squash on a plot of land in south Minneapolis. Today, that plot contains the firm’s headquarters and acres of floral, gift, garden, and landscaping departments, and Bachman’s has grown to be one of the largest traditional floral and nursery operations in the world.

I was running late to visit my friends new baby and the staff at Bachman’s came to the rescue! They put together a cute floral arrangement, stuffed animal, and balloon. It was a hit! Thanks for the attentive and speedy service.

They have a great selection, and you know you are getting quality when you buy here. My only problem is that they have like 20 employees wandering around basically begging you to let them help you, which is cool, if you don’t know what you want, but when you go to checkout, there is only one or two at the most people at the cash register. They should transfer some of the people who are wandering around to the register to make that faster.

I recommend calling ahead to verify any TV specials they are running. I was just in the store to go and see their perennials they advertised on the TV add and on their board outside the shop. Well here is what is 20% dying salvia and that is it. Nothing else. So they should be saying a limited supply of perennials are currently 20% off not just assuming it’s all. The people there were helpful but didn’t know either what was on sale for perennials told me the annuals were perennials. I work for a flower shop so I’m very well versed in annuals verses perennials. Another bonus, love they have everything sectioned off and labeled very clear and shows height and size and colors. Love that. So if they could get the sales part corrected I would go back they have lovely inventory and warranty on perennials.

Perfect place to get something for that special someone, The employees are very helpful and do a wonderful job of helping you build that perfect gift, flower, candy bundles. So if your like me and only have a general idea what you think you should get for that special occasion, they will help you hit a home run on your selection.
There is also a great children’s section with educational fun items, for kids of all ages, with great family arts and craft project idea’s.
This site also has a green house and large selection of home improvement /​gardening supplies and idea’s, with everything you need to feed the birds or brighten up your yard.

I love little boutique flower shops, however, this Bachman’s is probably one of the best flower shops in the area. I can’t find a flower shop in the Maplewood area that has a better selection of fresh flowers, plants and gifts. I always know that when I go there, I will find something to fit the bill. They have these mini bouquets that are around $ 7.99 a piece, and they are so pretty, so much nicer and unique as compared to anything you will find at a grocery floral. Also, they will wrap them up beautifully for you, making them look far more elegant. The only thing I don’t like is the traffic on White Bear Ave, kind of a hassle.
