Xes

Been here twice. Not impressed. The first time, the Landing was completely packed and it was kind of hard to get in to places. Buca was still open and they were filled to capacity and I couldn’t even get in there even though I wanted to get a bottle. So my friend and I tried Xes. Well. We walk over and there is a small line to get inside. Of course I skip the line because I want bottles but want to see what the club looks like before I decide. Well. We get to go inside and the place is completely dead. There are about 10 people inside. Why do you even have a line outside if it’s dead? come on. So out goes the idea for bottles in this club. We left there very quickly.
The next time, another friend and I want to get bottles in the Landing and this is after Buca has closed down. Well. The only thing close by is Xes and I figure, we’re both really drunk, we’re probably gonna hit up Larry Flint’s in a little bit. Why not just get some more booze in us. So we head to Xes and one of their promoters is outside trying to get people to check out the club. There is actually a really big line up outside.
Well. I tell the promoter that I want a bottle and he walks us inside to take a look. There are a couple of tables still available and a gigantic one right by the dance floor that is roped off. I tell him that I want that one and he talks to the manager and gives it to me. It’s my friend and I and I just got a table that will fit about 25 people. So I tell the promoter to go bring back a bunch of girls and he gets 10 girls to come in. At this point, the drug dealers in the club start heading over to our area and asking us if we want to buy blow from them. This is a serious detractor and a big reason why I hate this place. I got asked by about 4 different drug dealers to buy blow from them. We quickly turn them down and keep dancing with the girls. At one point, I’m dancing with a girl and this random dude who looks like Lil’ Wayne has his own table behind mine. His is separated by a small wall but he can still lean over and see everything on the dance floor. Well, he starts touching my girl in the back and in the hair while I’m dancing with her. Are you serious dude. This pisses me off so I tell the promoter what is going on and he says he’ll take care of it. Next thing I know, there are 4 security guards standing around my booth pushing people away from there. The dude tries to get into my booth and a security guard grabs him and literally tosses him out of the club.
Ok. The girls here are decently attractive. Not extremely mind blowing hot but there are a couple hot ones. There were also a bunch of extremely fat girls in here too that didn’t get invited back to our table. A bottle of Goose ran me $ 200. The music is all hip hop and there are a lot of people dancing. Especially the very big girls. The place is really really dark. Kind of like the bar cave.
What killed this place was how not everyone was nicely dressed up. There were dudes with very baggy jeans, running shoes and really baggy shirts in here. That and the fact that you have about a million drug dealers in here. Will I ever come back. No.

The owners of Xes are trying OH SO HARD to make this THE nightclub spot in St. Louis. Buuuut it’s kind of a joke.
I went there once only because I was stumbling my way to my car (if you’re a female that’s been to the Landing, you know how alcoholic beverages + stilletos on cobblestone goes) and saw a former coworker from Ice Kitchen who had now become a manager of Xes (both under the Munsok So empire) standing outside the place trying (begging?) to get people to come in. He promised me and my friend free shots. ALRIGHT I’M SOLD!
The place seems like it’s got all the elements of having that perfect lounge feel… but it’s missing SOMETHING. Instead of seeming dark and classy and mysterious, it’s kind of a dungeon.
They’ve got the couches, they’ve got the wooden stage for the girls who get a little too drunk and the attention whore in them takes over. They’ve got a nice bar, a DJ. So what are they missing? The pieces don’t seem to fit together. Something about it is not attracting the clientele they are looking for.
First of all, it was nearly empty. The only time this place gets full is when friends of Munsok’s have their own little inner-​circle parties or industry nights here.
That wasn’t the case this night. And at the risk of sounding REALLY REALLY AWFUL AND MEAN, a lot of the people dancing on that dance floor that night looked like they rode the short bus over. Okay, you may stone me now. But I’m just being real. The reason I mention it because it’s the exact opposite of what this place wants. Just check out their pretentious website. «The place to see and be seen,» the «sexiest cocktail staff». I mean, the name is SEX SPELLED BACKWARDS FOR CHRISSAKES. So it kinda made me smile.
I still had a good time because I don’t give two shits. I got up on that stage and danced between a girl that looked like Gabourey Sidibe and a kid whose glasses and teeth took up most of his face and I had a blast. I just had to laugh because it’s so not what this place is going for. Their advertisements feature beautiful head cheerleader types, but Steve Urkel was on the dance floor (seriously…he had suspenders).
I would rather hang out somewhere where you really CAN be yourself. Xes wants perfect models… and they’re not gonna get it. Hence the fact this place is not popular.
But if you’re the type of person that can take a big group out and have fun wherever you go, try it out. There will be no line at the bar. =)
Two stars instead of a possible three because the pictures on their website of the lingerie and bikini contests make me throw up a little in my mouth. But if objectifying women is your thing, by all means, this may be the place for you!

Xes is a nice spot… very classy. nice affordable drinks. mixed crowd except on Fridays which is Asian night. It’s not very popular so a lot of people just skip over it. Always empty. If you don’t bring your own party you will be totally bored. Once this place starts to get some shine, it has potential to be great. This place is being renovated right now but it should be open soon and I can’t wait because i’m bringing my own crowd.
