I have had 3 – 4 sandwiches from Vitales and each was delicious. The rolls are fresh, the meat generous but not excessive, and the toppings very tasty(fresh, tasty and light… not goopy). The small shop is brightly lit and the staff very friendly and welcoming. I will be a regular!

On my second trip I tried the meatball sandwich. These are house made meatballs and are absolutely fantastic. Perhaps the best meatball sandwich in St. Louis. I went with the potato salad this time and thought it was average at best.

Completely biased review(my boy works there), also completely true. Sandwiches are definitely in the spirit/style of the popular St Louis joints, and the breads… well it’s Vitale so that should go without stating. I’ve worked my way through most of the menu, standouts to me are the meatball, the caprese, and ‘the Annie’ turkey sandwiches with the pastrami as a runner up(horseradish ftw). Only things I’d improve would be the portion size of the sides(potato or macaroni salad) and to add another hot sandwich option. They now have some of their gelato there as well so leave a little room for dessert. Cheers

Great spot — the employees were so nice and welcoming. I had the Cathy Caprese & hubs had the Pete italian, both really awesome. Might have also bought cinnamon bread too… Really yummy
