St Louis American Cab Co

I called and scheduled a pick up 30 minutes in advance in downtown St. Louis. I drove in from 20 miles away found a parking spot and got to the pick up location and they still were not there. I waited five minutes and called they said they will call the driver and see what’s happening. I waited five minutes and called back. They said they can’t get a hold of the driver and they would send someone else. At this time I had been waiting for 10 minutes and they still had not shown up. How did I drive there from 20 miles away and get there before they did? Horrible service

Ordered a cab at 5 am. Cab wasn’t there at 5:10 so I called dispatch. Was told by dispatch that they would contact cab and let me know. Never heard back so I took über. Terrible service.

I called a day in advance to schedule a taxi and they did not even ask for a number to contact me. Should have known then, something was not right. The day of my scheduled trip, no taxi. I called and the person on the phone told me he didn’t know where the taxi was and I should start walking. Do yourself a favor and use a real taxi service.

I really liked my driver and he did his best to get me to the airport in a timely fashion. However, the company gets one star because it charged me a higher fee for service than other cabs I took that week, and was not upfront about it. I rode in several cabs while in STL, and they all started the meter at about the same cost. This company started the meter at a much higher price than the others and it increased quite a bit in my first few moments in the cab, more so than other rides. When I inquired as to why I was being charged more than the other cabs, my driver did not have a good reason other than a lack of standardization in rates across STL cabs. He mentioned that St Louis cabs all charge different rates, and this company was one of the more expensive ones AND that many other passengers had complained.

Cab no 1467. Older Caucasian man with a beard. I use the word «man» loosely as from the second he picked us up, he put a cigarette and used one particular racial slur very freely.
He told my wife, coworker and I that n***** were the biggest problem St. Louis has, as well as the reason for all the traffic. When I asked him to bring me to my hotel, he pointed towards my hotel (which was over a mile away) and said if I didn’t like the way he was driving I could walk. I got out, refusing to pay the fare (for not bringing me to my destination) and he immediately got in my face, puffed out his chest and assumed a fighting stance.
As I walked the mile back to my hotel, he prowled around the very street he refused to drive down and looked for us.
Please do not get in this cab!

Aaron V was an awesome driver and was very energetic. He had great stories and was also very appreciative of where we were going. If I could choose my driver every time I would choose him, hands down.

I would give this zero stars if I could. Called the night before to set up a cab for the airport. They were 30 minutes late and I missed my flight to my friend’a wedding. Don’t use this company.

Called an hour an a half before we needed a cab. Time came and no show, no call. Waited five minutes on hold to be told they have no idea when a driver would arrive. Subsequently received a text stating the driver was five miles away; 15 minutes later the cab still had not shown up. Why is there no Über in St. Louis? No wonder the taxi union is fighting competition. No one would use this crappy service if they had a choice. Wish there were zero stars.

Called and spoke with Dave. Asked him to come to pick up my bosses from work to take to the airport. I did call about an hour before to schedule him so my experience wasn’t a matter of ‘I need a cab now’ type situation. Asked him to give me a call when he was out front which he did and he was right on time. Once he called, I asked him to come back in an hour to get someone else who needed to to go to the airport. Again, right on time and called me. I’m giving them 4 stars based on that experience. I did not see what kind of condition the cab was in (good or bad) nor do I know how the ride was. He was very friendly on the phone with me so I would assume he was the same to my bosses. I will use again.

It only takes one bad experience to wipe out a past positive experience! I called for a cab and was told, «we’ll have a cab there right away.» Now. A half hour later there’s no cab. I called to inquire what happened and the dispatcher said she would check on the driver and call right back. Five minutes later… no phone call! When I called again, I was told «I’m sorry. I don’t know what happened. He’s on his way.» I could have walked to my destination in the time I have waited. There’s no excuse for an unreliable cab company. Never again American. Thank goodness this didn’t happen late at night or in bad weather.

Last Sunday morning I made the mistake of going with another company initially, and waited forever. After losing my patience, I called these guys, and got a guy named Alex who was just a funny guy who has seen it all. The promptness of their arrival, their professional attitude on the phone and Alex’s great work all result in the 5 star review.

Horrible customer service, rude driver, and they rip you off. Do not use this company. The driver took us to a drive thru last night then after waiting he decided he had to leave to make money when we were next up to order. He told us we could get out there and call another cab or he’d take us home. We had no choice to go home and pay the high fare due to us waiting in line for nothing. I tried to get him to take that part of the fare off and he wouldn’t so I refused to pay. Not paying for a service I didn’t fully recieve and I was getting ripped off. He locked us in his cab and I called the police but took to long for them to get there so we had to pay it. Will never use this company again. Worst experience
