Best. Bar. Food. Ever. You may want to get it to go unless you like the fraternity atmosphere.

Ordered a ribeye sandwich with fries and potato skins as an appetizer. The wait was a bit long, but the barkeep was friendly and apologetic and they were busy, so no biggie. The steak sandwich and fries were dead on point. I mean, the steak was absolutely perfectly cooked and seasoned. The potato skins were well portioned, but lacked flavor, really bland. But, the steak sandwich… I’ll be back for that.

Best bar in South St Louis. Pizza is awesome! Plenty of TV options for sports watching and the staff is fun! Not for kids though.

This is a great place to hang out. I’ve been here a few times with friends that hang out here a lot. The food is always good. You can always catch a game on and the bartenders are always fast, attentive and friendly. They have a huge shot board and a plastic dart gun in case you can’t decide it will for you.

They have a HUGE shot board with 124 different shot recommendations on it. If you really can’t decide, they will hand you a nerf dart gun and whatever you hit on the board is the shot you get. This place is fun, without pretention. A great neighborhood Southside sports bar.

I’ve been coming to Peppers off and on for years but lately the customer service has been awesome. Bridget is just a great bartender very nice and attentive. The food has been so yummy and consistent it is one of the best bars in Saint Louis and for SSC.

We live close to Peppers and have been there once before about a year ago. Loved the place, but felt the menu was limited. Had the«Hammer» and liked it. Just wanted more of a selection. O’ well. Fast forward a year and we wanted to try Peppers again. So it’s the Cardinals home opener and wanted a place kind of close by, but wanted an actual meal… not just«bar food». Looked up the menu online hoping it had been expanded and guess what… it was. So off we go. Lots of screens… as we knew… so game coverage was what we expected. Sat on the patio which is where we sat for the World Series games we watched there before. We ordered a burger and the roast beef… here’s where the review gets serious. ;) This is my first Unilocal review… but not my first time eating… lol. She ordered the burger… me…the roast beef. First off the burger. it’s a real burger… meaning it’s ground beef that someone made into a patty. not a frozen puck. Honestly, hardly anyone makes a burger anymore especially at a bar. So it’s a win just based on that. Kind of like a singer who actually sings. I ordered a roast beef sandwich which Kristen or Krystn(sorry about the name, I was watching the game) recommended getting it on garlic bread. So I did. Home run! It was the best roast beef I’ve had. Just enough aus jus. Beef was tender and generous. It came with fries which we ordered crispy. They were great and were well seasoned. Overall, we loved the expanded menu and can’t wait to try more of it. So many bars in south city are run down. and this place brings new life to the bar scene just with its menu alone. We found out from our server it has new owners and it looks like the new owners knew exactly what the place needed. a shot in the arm as to the menu. We loved the building… the patio… the tvs… and the atmosphere. The menu is the icing on the cake. We will be back and can’t wait to try the wings. If your looking for a south city bar that’s not depressing and doesn’t feel like its been around for 30 years doing the same thing day in and day out in the same musty place. Try Peppers out. We had a fun time and will be back.

I am probably leaving St. Louis soon, so I can reveal my secret all-time favorite St. Louis establishment. I have so many good memories at Pepper’s that I’ll never forget… they really do serve up those South City dreams, and goddamnit, I am gonna miss this crazy place. Best bartenders in St. Louis. — There’s a reason why there are a lot of regulars at the bar. — Said regulars are always drunk and always friendly. — Strong drinks. Need I say more? Best bar food in St. Louis. — get the Deluxe Pizza(it comes with provel). — get the House Salad(it comes with provel). — get the Philly Sandwich + Homemade Chips(it comes with provel). If Aimee is your bartender, you are in luck. She’s a riot. And don’t forget free trivia on Wednesday nights. I love you so much, Pepper’s. I’ve seen you come under new ownership, with fancy new menus(and now Sunday brunch? Say what??), but your heart and soul is still there, and I can’t thank you enough for the memories.

I’ve been to Peppers on numerous occasions and have always enjoyed the place. Everyone is very professional and I really like that the management supports their staff. As a bartender myself, I can see that it makes great employees when they know that they have a work environment where they don’t have to feel uncomfortable because of customers who have caused issues for them personally. Kerry G. I saw your review and I have to respect a place that doesn’t want drama. It’s not a good idea to go places where you have issues with an employee.

Went last night with my husband, had a Groupon for $ 20, not counting alcohol. We entered and were bewildered about where to go. The front is a bar and it was full. We wandered through and found ourselves in the very back room, where it has been mentioned the dart boards are. There the tables were all empty. Some guys were playing darts and seemed to act as our hosts, inviting us to sit down.(But they were customers, just nice.) We wondered if a server would come. A young lady I saw working at the bar did come to us soon. We ordered sandwiches, a Pepsi, and a beer. The young lady was most friendly and kind, but I felt like a dinosaur amongst the youth there – no, more like a dinosaur FOSSIL even. Everyone there seemed to be having a very good time, so they must be doing something right. It was VERY loud, and one patron was particularly loud and it was early evening. I had the Firecracker Chicken sandwich – and it was hot and messy. The fries were good and seasoned – very salty, to lead you to drink more, I guess. The sandwich was big and I took half home. The friendly server continued to check on us and asked if we were going to hang out a while. I think her name was Kristin – thanks, Kristin! Despite the friendliness and the quality of our sandwiches, I don’t plan to return. It is a great hang out, but just not for us. Thanks, Pepper’s, for having the Groupon(we didn’t even reach the full $ 20 value!). But it is just not for us.

We ate here yesterday and had a great time. The staff was super friendly and attentive; we had our daughter with us and they were great with her. We ordered salad, cheeseburgers, and toasted ravioli… the salad and cheeseburger portions was enormous and very good. The toasted raviolis were frozen bag ravs but they were still tasty. We drank some $ 5 margaritas that quenched our thirst, and we played the outdoor basketball game which is a lot of fun! We will definitely be back.

We went here for my boyfriend’s birthday. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night. Probably the dollar drafts? The server/bartender was pretty attentive, despite having a full bar and multiple tables. We were never at a loss for beer, though we did start with plastic cups and have to wait to get glass mugs. She also made an awesome shot that my boyfriend loved just on flavor suggestion. I could tell she had a lot of regulars, and I might consider being one. The pepper bites were delicious. The bf had a spicy chicken sandwich that he ate all of and really liked their ranch with it. I had the cowboy burger. It was huge! I liked it, but next time I will opt for different cheese; I liked the soft cheddar, just not the texture with a burger. Their fries are kind of like Steak n Shakes’, thin and crispy. Pros: drink specials, friendly staff, portions Neutral: pacing Cons: volume

I had only been to Pepper’s one other time(with Kelly actually) but this weekend when my friends wanted to go to a normal bar with great people watching, loud music and a «patio that is both inside and outside» so I immediately thought of Pepper’s. Now I am a South Saint Louis Girl, and I mean this with love from the bottom of my heart, but South City Bars have the best people watching. Between the overly loud music, the Giant Wall of over 123 Shots, and the famous«Pay a $ 1 to hit a punching bag to see how strong you are game» for the men the people watching is superb! Our bartenders were very friendly and quick — oh, and did I mention my bill was under $ 10 for the evening!!! They get an A+ in my book for drink prices: D I personally enjoy their Patio, which only has the downfall of that all the smokers are right outside of it buffing away and sometimes with the wind it all comes right in your face. Now I have never eaten here, but all those around us seemed to be enjoy the grub! I would have to say my friends described what they wanted and I totally delivered! ;)

I would be amiss if I did not write a review for my regular haunt Pepper’s Bar & Grill. From the moment you walk in this place any day of the week you can tell they must be doing something right. You always see the loyal regulars along with other happy faces enjoying the atmosphere. The bartenders know their clients and greet them by name and the others with a smile. The bartenders seem to truly enjoy their jobs, and they aren’t going anywhere… you always know who is behind the bar. It is a bar with great food! Nightly drink specials that are unbeatable. And the food!!! I can say I have never had a bad meal. The food is consistant, the home made chips are ALWAYS perfect. The Philly Cheese Steak and The Hammer are my favorite sandwiches. The pizza rocks, the burgers are ah-mazing. They have two bars, typically the back bar is a younger crowd and the front bar older… Different music plays in each location. Lots of TV’s to watch the games… PLUS…they play the sound so that you can hear the game!!! They just added on a covered outdoor patio complete with games, tables, and TV’s for the smokers… Peppers has it all. Paula is the manager, she truly cares about her customers and does everything she can to make sure everyone feels welcome. If you have an issue, it upsets her too and she will do what she can to make it better… and she usually does. They are frequently involved in special events… such as pub crawls and chili cook off’s. Just a great bar! Sometimes you want to go where every body knows your name, and they’re always glad you came, you want to go where you can see the troubles are all the same, you want to go where every body knows your name!

«What can I get you?» «We’ll take a Grey Goose and soda and a Golden Draft Light, please.» :7 minutes elapse, nothing seems to be happening: Gentlemen on our behalf: «We’ll take a Grey Goose and soda and a Golden Draft Light, please.» «Sure, coming right up.» :another 7 – 9 minutes elapse as we witness a flurry of activity, none of which involves getting our drinks: «Um, what about that Grey Goose and soda and a Golden Draft Light, please?» :radio silence; eye contact is refused: Lights flick on. Bar is closed. One and done drink FAIL.

My friend and I went here for lunch, I was surprised at how many people were there. We both got sandwiches and fries. I had a mushroom & swiss burger, I LOVEDIT! The cheese was perfect, the mushrooms were perfect and the burger, perfect also. Service was great, tons of food for a good price, I will keep taking my lunches here.
