History

Established in 1979.

Dr. McCarthy graduated from Washington University School of Dental Medicine in 1979. He was commissioned a Lieutenant in the United Sates Navy Dental Corps and was on full-​time active duty from July 1979 until July 1982. While in the service he received training in oral surgery, endodontics (root canal treament), Jungle Warfare and Desert Survival. In 1983 Dr. McCarthy joined the practice of Dr. Peter Hummel, DDS and his partners at Sunset Hills Dental Group. He remained associated with Dr. Hummel until 1987 when he opened his own solo practice on Mancherster Road in the Warson Village Shopping Center. In 1992 he moved to his current location in the Woodbine Center on South Kirkwood Road. Dr. McCarthy has completed continuums with Peter Dawson in Florida (occlusion), Michael Schuster in Arizona (business of dentistry), Carl Misch in Michigan (training in surgical placement of implants, bone grafting and restoration of implants).

I am a general dentist. After thirty-​six years of practicing, I can say I have just about seen it all. I provide dental services ranging from simple cosmetic fillings to multidisciplinary cases involving cosmetic and restorative dentistry.
