Have never been to a Mardi Gras anywhere. Was here for work, not partying. What I Said: «Oh my God. Look at all these drunk dumb-asses. Who gets drunk at 9AM? What self-respecting man wears skin-tight, junk-bearing, gold leggings? Seriously, look at all these morons. Look at all these dumb-ass college kids. Oh my God. OHMYGOD.» What I Was Thinking: «Oh my God. I wish I were still in college and going to this Mardi Gras. OHMYGOD.» I think next year might be my time to be the mid-30’s dumb-ass getting day wasted and wearing gold leggings. I’ll wear a mask that covers my face wrinkles and five pairs of spanx. It will be the best mid-life crisis ever. This shit was the Olympics of debauchery. Cannot imagine a better organized booze fest.

Best way to describe STL Mardi Gras… a shit show! Don’t get me wrong though, the parade is an AWESOME time, but expect to see people far from being on their best behavior. I do not recommend this parade for children. Go to the St. Pat’s day Metropolitan parade instead for a more family friendly atmosphere. Be prepared for large crowds, being outside in the cold, possible nudity, and waiting a long time to use the porter pottys. The main points of the Mardi Gras parade… drink a lot, celebrate St. Louis, and catch some BEADS!!! With the right attitude, St. Louis Mardi Gras WILL show you a great time!

This was only my second time going to the parade, but it was a blast! We were near the end of the parade route, but there were still lots of beads to be had! The beers were flowing, beads were flying, and overall, the parade and Mardi Gras itself was AWESOME!
