I’d call it old-​fashioned even though they’re in the middle of a renovation and have the newest technology — but I’d mean personable, committed to personal service, kind, patient and deeply integrated into the history and spirit of the neighborhood. I’ve been a patient through three pairs of glasses, examinations and some concerns, and have been very satisfied by every aspect of their attention and service.
An extensive selection of eyewear — as much as at the chain outlets — plus high-​level medical care and understanding and human staff.

Dr. Lucas is a very patient and competent optometrist, very polite and pleasant to talk to.
Dave is the optician who helped me selected frames, who is a grumpy and ill-​tempered. When I learnt with my insurance I still needed to pay 250 dollars, I hesitated about getting a pair of glasses that expensive and he said frustratedly,” oh great, now this is all just a waste of time!” So not so great working with him.
All in all, not a bad place to go and get exam and glasses, most people are nice. Also, the receptionist Pam is a lovely and pleasant lady.

Went back for a checkup and glasses with my insurance from my job and it was super easy. I got a cute pair of glasses that came back in a week. They fitted me and everything. I will keep coming back here!

Tried this place for 2 reasons…1) Read some good reviews on Unilocal and 2) this business is in my Tower Grove South neighborhood and I prefer to spend my money locally, and support small business rather than going to some place like America’s Contacts, Lenscrafters, etc.
Suffice to say, this was one of the most thorough and intensive medical visits I have ever had, regardless of specialty, etc. Granted, it took over an hour but I was put through multiple eye tests (both vision and eye health), some of which I had never encountered before! And I have been wearing contacts and glasses since the 7^th grade. At one point, wearing a pair of test glasses, he walked me out the front of the office and had me read a sign across the street on Grand. Love it! Add to that the fact that Dr. Lucas has been at this location nearly 30 years and his father opened it in the 1940s. Don’t see that enough these days. Dr. Lucas seemed genuinely interested in me as a person, making polite conversation about what I did for a living, politics, etc.
I’m happy to recommend this practice without reservation. The entire staff was kind and courteous. And if you have VSP vision coverage, all the better but I get the impression they will work with you in every way they can. Prices were quite reasonable and they appeared to have a wide selection of name brand glasses as well.
