My fiancée and I just moved in the area and have nothing to cook with, still yet to unpack, wondered what we could do for dinner. So we chose Chinese that delivers. THEYWEREGREAT!!! Fast, still hot, and great taste. I would recommend them to everyone I see and will definitely order again! Thank you for a great meal in our new home!!!

This local joint just down the road from me provides a great value for the amount of food you’re given. Seriously, a dinner combo with the main, rice, egg roll and soup for $ 7?! A complete steal if you ask me and it’s not low quality either, this is probably why it was very busy when I walked in yesterday. I waited around 20 minutes for one dinner order but I didn’t mind, I could see they were working very hard to keep up with the volume. I’m so glad the place is only a 2 minute drive from the house!

I love my co-workers. We’re always ordering in for each other. Usually it’s pizza, but on this cold day my assistant manager declared«Chinese!» So we searched on Unilocal for nearby Chinese delivery places and settled on Hunan Yu thanks to all the great reviews. Well…I’ve had better. Many times. I ordered General Tso’s chicken with egg drop soup and an egg roll. Now I love spicy food — LOVE — but I’ve never had Chinese food that was spicy enough for me. So I ordered my chicken«extra spicy»! So I open up my container and dig in… to my not even remotely spicy General Tso’s chicken. I don’t mean that it just wasn’t extra spicy as requested, but it wasn’t the least bit spicy ATALL! As far as I’m concerned it was just chicken in a sauce whose flavor I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Now, the egg drop soup. Always been a favorite of mine. But it was extra thick and the taste wasn’t quite right. Even my super nice manager, who said his sweet and sour shrimp was great, said that the soup«tastes like soap.» Considering how many Chinese delivery places there are, I’d try some other places before ordering from this one again.

This is the real deal. I almost didn’t try it because I read that it had a very small dining area. Actually, I would describe the dining area as «quaint». The dining area is sectioned off from the main counter to create a cozy area with 5 tables. We went for dinner and there was sit down table service. The waitress did a great job keeping all 5 tables happy. The food is EXCELLENT and the menu is full of choices. The prices are very reasonable. It was an enjoyable evening and we will be back. This place is in the corner of a strip mall. From the outside, it looks like a carry out place(and I’m sure they do plenty of carry out). But go in and give the sit down service a try. You may be as pleasantly surprised as I was.

This isn’t your typical Chinese place. These are far and few in between! This is our 2nd time this week ordering from here! You must try!

Third visit: St. Paul Sandwich. Surprise! They serve on an onion roll instead of white bread! Purists may take offense to this, but made a good sandwich great! Service still good, too.

Ok, I don’t know why it took my SO long to get a review up here for this place, seeing as I’ve been eating at this place for about…10 years now? From the outside, this looks like your typical Chinese takeout place. You can actually eat in, the place has a few tables but I usually order take out because when i eat this food, it’s disgusting. I mean, I INHALE this food. it’s embarrassing. ANYWAY, so, its family owned. Super sweet family, the wife usually is out in the front and the hubby in the back. The daughters are grown and sometimes work there also. On to the food… I have always, always gotten their string bean with beef. Once in a while I’ll feel crazy adventurous and order something else, like their teriyaki meat dishes(sauce is great, very teriyakish without being too sweet). But this place uses quality ingredients. The veggies are fresh, meat is tender, and the sauce is flavorful without being too greasy. I have tried ALOT of chinese take out places since I no longer live 5 minutes away from this place. and the difference is so obvious. I now endure the 30 minute drive to this place because its THAT good. YUM! PS. eggrolls are yummy as well. tastes homemade, just like my grandma’s. if I were Chinese and had a Chinese grandmother who made awesome eggrolls!

While it doesn’t look like much, the food is very good & the prices are reasonable. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.

Since I live right next to Hunan Yu, I am a big fan of this tiny, casual restaurant. The Chinese food is great, as a lot of Chinese food in St. Louis can be, and reasonable for the amount of food you get. The food is delicious, lots of vegetables and fresh ingredients, still wonderfully hot when you pick it up. The staff are friendly and it’s just a great Chinese restaurant for that«I’m too lazy to cook» night.
