Late dinner on a Thursday night. Guy playing acoustic guitar, big bar, great bartender(who managed to serve all the tables and the bar without missing a beat). Had the buffalo chicken salad. The salad was a decent size. The chicken exceeded my expectations. Breaded, low key, sliced and tender, and spiced to perfection. Drinks were reasonably priced, service attentive. Great hang out.

Allow a local to tell you how things work here in St. Louis. First we’re an inclusive bunch so please join us anytime no matter where you are from we are friendly and glad you came. Secondly we have everything to offer you from high class to dives. HOWARD’S in Soulard epitomizes high class yet laid back, this is no dive yet it welcomes anyone and everyone. Thirdly we do have our favorites and this is becoming one, so visit before it blows up and it is headed there now. Do you like good fried chicken? I hope you like great fried chicken because on Sunday’s that is what you will find at Howard’s yes the kid who grew up cooking chicken in Alabama is telling you THISISGREATFRIEDCHICKEN. Well seasoned, breaded, JUICY(CHECKCHECKANDCHECK!!) I had mine with new potatoes and fresh cut green beans both had an appropriately yet differently measured bacon undertone to their flavors. Additionally if you would like a craft cocktail or a BBQ sandwich or are in the mood for lighter small plate fare you cannot go wrong by pulling up a table or a stool inside the wonderfully decorated and recently renovated historic building that is now Howard’s. This place is wondrously relaxing and socializing at the same time. Weather permitting try the rear deck it’s beautiful tranquil and serene, amazingly so even with it’s proximity to highway 55. Howard’s is also the perfect place to park, eat and then walk 1 block down to Anheuser-Busch for a brewery tour. I have had the pleasure of acquainting myself with the owner Judith on several occasions as she is a passionate dedicated brilliant hard working and extremely driven owner. She shared with me the history of the building and the beauty behind the namesake that resides outside. Hint her last name is Howard and it’s a tribute to her father United States Navy Captain Howard. If you want to enjoy a unique and distinguishable taste of Soulardian er uhm St. Louisian fare and so much more that has been expertly designed by who I’m sure will become an award winning chef shortly. Then pop in enjoy the live music which is very audibly balanced for the space, and of course say hi to some of the best food and craft cocktails around. Bön app!

Very friendly. Went out of their way to accommodate our puppy out on the patio. Moscow Mules were delicious. Will definitely come back

My Fiancé and I decided to stop here for a quick lunch before going on the Anheuser Busch tour. It’s right down the street, within walking distance which was nice. We ordered our lunch and there was a small miscommunication on what we wanted. Our waiter, Kenneth, handled it very quickly and we had our correct order very soon. The food was great and the atmosphere was nice with a live musician. When we received our check, our waiter took off the charge for one of our meals for the mistake. This was super unexpected and not necessary at all since he handled the situation so well to begin with. We were very appreciative and really enjoyed ourselves!

After reading so many positive reviews, we decided to try this new bistro in Soulard. Lots of sandwich options. My husband had the Cuban which he really enjoyed. I had the Sassy chicken. .very good. Roasted chicken, havarti cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, on a delicious sweet bun. Sandwiches served with chips. Live music was good too! Will return.

The Godfather! New, friendly spot with good service. Myself and two friends enjoyed lunch with their Cuban & The Godfather sandwiches. Looked very clean… Maybe because they opened in May but we’ll see where that goes. Full beer, wine & cocktail menu. I’ll definitely return for a mid week lunch and probably a weekend cocktail.

Awesome lunch! I’ve been here a couple of times for lunch and the food is great. The reuben sandwich rocked. The meat was tender and sliced just right to eat on the perfectly grilled bread. I subbed a salad for the chips and now I keep craving their homemade ranch dressing. Bonus: parking on the street is close and free. Double bonus: depending on the weather you can sit inside or outside.

Nice renovations, decent looking menu. The live music was really good. The service at our table was abysmal though. We went to the bar half of the time to get drinks, and this was on a Sunday afternoon. The place was far from busy. Hope this improves.

My daughter took the parentals to lunch today at this spot. She got an egg salad sandwich, I got the Cuban sandwich and my wife got the BLT. I got the blue cheese slaw for my side. I could not imagine this dish, it sounded kind of oxymoronic. I was really pleased with my choice, the cheese is there but it does not overpower the slaw, really nice change of pace. The sandwich was served hot and sliced in two. The sandwich had a hint of spice but nothing too hot to enjoy. It went down nicely with a glass of chard. My daughter said the egg salad was a great comfort food dish. The bride ate het BLT with gusto and a side of potato salad which she pronounced adequate. The portion sizes were reasonable, the service was good and the table was clean. There was no music at Friday lunch so I can’t comment on the decibel levels here. It’s a bistro so don’t come here if you want a steak dinner. But if you want a nice lunch with a friend this will serve nicely.

So glad to have this great restaurant within walking distance to the house! Both visits have exceeded expectations with very friendly staff, yummy food, and good prices. There is a great patio as well as ample indoor seating in a clean, nicely rehabbed space. Music has been great too: Touch Tunes on the juke box the first time and a live band the second. I have a feeling I will be frequenting this place!

Amazing transformation from the previous establishment! Each little detail was planned and executed with finesse and forethought. Impressive. The Luvy Duvys menu at Howard’s is pure genius and a marriage made in heaven. We found the bartenders very knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile for our fancy drink requests! Since I go to bed early nowadays, it’s nice that finally somebody gets it and has music starting before 9 pm!!! I’m a fan and will be back.

I recently wanted to give the new soulard hot spot a try. I walked the most disappointed I have ever been. We grabbed a seat at the bar and was waited on fast. We order pulled pork slider mozz sticks and one other slider. The food came out fast but this is very very disappointing. I do not understand how they consider that a meal. The food would be great for a kid but not for a freakin adult. They have a very big lunch menu with actual plates. We couldn’t figure out why we couldn’t order from there. The bill came to 20 dollars! We walked out more hungry than when we walked in. Also the music was so loud even the bartender asked if we could speak louder! Skip this place all together

Such a great addition to Soulard. The patio is great, they have golf cart parking in the alley. The evening menu of sliders is awesome. The Porky’s slider in particular is phenomenal!

It’s a nice building with an interesting food concept. All small plates and sandwiches which were delicious. Just took a bit too long to make. Hope this place does well. Our food came out before our drinks which was odd but it was their opening weekend. I’ll give it another try soon and update. I’m sure they will work out the kinks with more experience.

I think all I really need to say is that their well drinks are call alcohols, but priced the same as most other soulard restaurants’ off brand alcohols. We went on opening night and while it was standing room only, when we decided to order food, we received it within 15 minutes. I loved the small plate options.

Great new Soulard live music venue and bistro next to the A-B brewery(in the old Hiway Bar building). AWESOME renovation. Breakfast served on the weekends, hearty small plates for $ 3.50 — $ 4.00 and dinner served Tues– Sun. Live music five days a week. Full bar and patio. Nice owners and staff.
