Great people from staff to clientele. My son and I from out of state felt immediately accepted our first time there to pitch a water, a draught and a couple of songs. Wide open arms and a generous crowd. Bartender was awesome and sang while serving! No wine but good brews and peeps and service.

My wife and I LOVE karaōke. Like, really truly love it and enjoy doing it as much as we can. We like singing random songs too, not the typical staples you would normally expect to hear. We also like cheap drinks. So uh, Cotter’s is kind of a no-brainer for us. THEGOOD Ample Karaōke: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 9pm-1(ish)am. More than enough opportunities to get your inner American Idol on. I’ve been on both Fridays and Saturdays. With the way things are going I’ll probably end up going Mondays and Wednesdays too… Karaōke Song Selection: Wowzers, this place has one of the biggest libraries I’ve ever seen. The books themselves are huge, completely filling up a 3-inch binder, but in addition to those songs they have double that amount in the computer. Not in the book? Ask the KJ and he will most likely have it. Perfect for me and the spouse due to our tendency to sing less-popular tunes. The Crowd: Everybody here is incredibly welcoming and inviting. We just moved to St. Louis about 2 months ago from our beloved New Orleans and we were worried about finding bars like we had back home with really laid-back, accepting people. Thank goodness we found Cotter’s. No judging whatsoever on your karaōke skills or song choices. Ample amount of cheering and encouragement. Easy to start conversations with anyone. Eclectic song choices from them as well. All-in-all a great time will be had with the people who come here. Cheap Drinks: They run shot specials during Fridays and Saturdays, as well as have very affordable buckets of beer(6 for $ 13). Our favorite though is getting doubles of mixed drinks, served in big glasses for very low prices. I can’t remember exactly how much(probably from drinking too much of them) but trust me they are extremely affordable and generous. THEBAD Nothing PURGATORY Smoking: This is a smoking bar. Your clothes will smell like an ashtray when you leave. I am not a fan of smoking and it’s the one thing I do not like about going to Cotter’s, but I knew before I walked in what I was getting myself into and I consider it a small price to pay, hence why it’s a Purgatory thing(ie. YMMV depending on your views with smoking). Do I hope maybe one day they convert to a non-smoking bar? Perhaps, but not at the risk of losing the people who go there and make it as cool as it is. I’d take smelling like smoke all day over losing that vibe. OVERALL I’ve never been here other than for karaōke, so I can’t speak to the quality of this place during non-karaōke hours. However I’m convinced with the crowd and the service that this is definitely a cool neighborhood bar no matter when you come. Definitely come for karaōke though. Look forward to seeing you!

Cotters is a great corner bar where everyone almost always knows your name. The bartenders are always quick to engage the customer and smiles are the norm. Fireball Fridays are a big hit with my friends and Beer Buckets are priced average. Restrooms are clean and there is usually plenty of parking on the street and in one of the fast food chains next door. They feature Karaōke every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with one of the largest libraries in the area. We enjoyed the flashback music videos that played throughout the night. Only one billiard table, but plenty of fun. They also have a full size shuffleboard game and Golden Tee.

Cotter’s is a fun dive as the others have noted. Their annual Xmas party is Friday, Dec. 13 so check it out! It’s not a sports bar but a place to play games, shoot pool & shoot the breeze. Afternoons are for senior locals playing cards.

Poor karaōke(which means they don’t boo at me), shuffle board, cheap buckets of beers, Silver Strike, and friendly bartenders are the reasons this place is my dive bar of choice. I’ve watched playoff games here, spent an evening getting to know the employees, and had more fun with friends than I’d ever thought I could. Definitely a place to hit when you’re feeling low-key but want to get out of the house.

Cotter’s Lounge is a good place to have a karaōke night with all of your friends. They have a mix of people of all ages and they have big screen TVs for sports fans, a pool table, shuffleboard and karaōke Mon, Fri, and Saturdays. They have phenomenal happy hour specials and you can order pre-made pizzas for $ 5-$ 7. And in true South City fashion, they’ll let you bring in outside food. Cotter’s can get smoky and occasionally, you might get a whiff of cheap cigar smoke, but if you can handle the smoke, Cotter’s is always good for a fun time.
