Good for dry cleaning. Terrible for alterations. I have consistently used Clayton Cleaners over the past 19 months, since moving to St. Louis. THEGOOD: As for the dry cleaning, I haven’t really had any complaints. My garments come back quickly and without any problems. I have found them to be very good at removing stains and deodorant marks. They never shrunk any items. They are professional, but not over the top friendly. That is fine. I don’t need to make friends, I just want clean crisp clothes. THEBAD: Some items can be pricey. I have a pleated dress(from Target) that I have had for years. I am terrible at ironing, especially pleats. So I have taken this dress to be dry cleaned, many times over, to various dry cleaners. They have all done a great job and the price was never an issue. Clayton Cleaners did a great job, except for the fact that they charged per pleat. You have been warned. I do believe it cost in excess of $ 20 to have this one item dry cleaned. That is almost as much as it cost for a blanket or comforter, I believe. I found this to be ridiculous because no dry cleaner had ever charged this much for this dress before. THEUGLY: Having had good experiences with them for more than a year, I decided to have some pants taken in at the waist. I took three pair. The first pair fit perfectly in the waist after the alterations. But the lady did something weird with the seat. She made some adjustment and it left the pants with this saggy, weird pucker. It looks sort of like diaper booty. The second pair have the same diaper booty pucker to them, but it is almost like she did not alter the waist at all. I had them on yesterday and I was able to pull them off of me without undoing the button and zipper. That is just how lose and ill-fitting they are. The last pair she refused to fix because she said they were already perfect. Well, I have them on today and they are not perfect. The front of my pants are sagging because they are just too big in the waist. I am glad I did not argue with her, or I would have three pair of ruined pants. I imagine I could take the pants elsewhere to be fixed, but I don’t know if the«diaper booty pucker» can be fixed. The damage may already be done. And no, I didn’t lose weight between the time I dropped them off and when I picked them up. To be clear, I am not one of those women with a build-a-bear blowup butt. So I didn’t need anyone to perform magic on my pants. I have had plenty of pants taken in, before. This was the first time the seats of the pants were altered and created this saggy look. I do not recommend from an alterations standpoint. Taking away major stars because dry cleaners that indicate they have a seamstress should be able to handle simple alterations. If you cannot, farm out the work or do not do it at all.

I am very surprised to see the negative reviews on this business. I have found the quality of both the operation and service to be wonderful. I used to go to American Cleaners, Tip Top, and a range of others, and would constantly find broken buttons, random creases, and any number of other problems with, and blemishes on, my clothing. After mentioning this to my tailor, she recommended Clayton Cleaners(over another local right across the street from her shop), and I have not looked back since. The quality is the best I have found, and they can also do minor alterations for very reasonable prices. I can’t imagine why anyone would have reason to post the negative reviews I have seen here — try them and find out for yourself!

I love this place. They do a great job with my clothes. They keep notes in their system to remember my preferences(crease in pants, medium starch, etc.). They even remember my last name(including the pronunciation, which is crazy, trust me). The entire staff is pleasant and friendly and always greets me warmly when I walk in. I leave here in a good mood every time.

I’m surprised that people don’t like this place… I’ve been using this cleaners for a long time and I’ve moved 20 mins out and I’m still using them. They’re friendly, professional and knock on wood, I’ve never had any accident there(e.g. clothing lost or new stain on clothes) They also would try to fix your clothes if there’s something wrong with it, like lost buttons and stuff. It’s great but they could’ve let me know before they decide to do it. Overall, I think it’s a great establishment and as long as they keep their standards, they’ll always be my cleaner!

I don’t have any complaints about the service or prices here. I’ve dropped off my cleaning once and won’t be going back. I needed some pants and shirts cleaned and pressed. After picking them up and unwrapping them at home, one shirt had spots on it and a few others had creases. The worst of these was a sharp fold in the collar point of one shirt. I would have taken them back and demanded satisfaction, but I had to leave town the net day for work and I need the shirts. So, in addition to spotted shirt, I also had to iron my shirts after having them cleaned and pressed. WTF? Not related to my rating, but information of value: the business is cash only, so don’t plan to use plastic to pay for their services.

I was in town for a wedding, and as always my suit was a wrinkled, cat hair-ridden mess. Luckily I was able to roll through first thing in the morning at 7 am, and begged them for same day service. They obliged, and I was the male version of the Belle of the Ball, at the wedding later that night. The price is right. The service is top notch, speedy, reliable, and fairly priced. All cleaners should be this good. Also, Starbucks next store w/drive-thru. Something about dry cleaning always puts me in the mood for coffee

Great, family-owned dry cleaner. They know their stuff and I’m consistently pleased with their service.

Clayton Cleaners is my go-to place whenever I’m back in St. Louis and need something dry cleaned. They do an excellent job, and though a little bit pricy, it’s totally worth it. Their hours were a little wonky over the holidays, but normally, they’re open every day but Sunday. There’s plenty of parking, a friendly staff, and a drive-thru Starbucks next door, what more could you ask for?
