So I took my extended Family to Talayna’s on a Saturday night during the Christmas Holiday and it was PACKED we waited 10 minutes at the door before anyone even noticed we were there complete ignorance to the door. We sat down in a booth in the main room which was fine but our poor server had WAY to many tables and it took her forever to even get us our drinks we ordered when we ordered our drinks thinking that would make it easier for her. She told one of the people in our party that they shouldn’t order a personal pizza because it would take to long which we weren’t worried about the time. It took over 30 minutes just to get our side salads and over an hour to get simple pasta dinners and the one pizza we ordered wasn’t even correct. On top of all of that my husband didn’t have silverware and we asked over 4 people to get some yet it never arrived I even got up and looked for some myself while he was busing tables and when I mean he that was my husband bussing tables because there was a line out the door of people trying to sit down and no one even acknowledged that were at the door the same way they did us. He bussed three table with another customer and NOONE even stopped to help from your staff!!! I mean really NOONE! no one said thank you when they were taking plates to the back no management was to be found I asked for one multiple times even called when I left and each time someone asked me why I wanted to talk to a manager when it was obvious why I would want to at that point. I was excited to eat there I hadn’t been there in years and I loved the food when I had went in the past. I don’t blame my server or the staff because they were pretty young but I do blame the management I have done your job and I know it is hard at times but to not even come out and greet tables and apologize for long wait times or anything to me is unacceptable. I have never seen so many pissed off; we were there for 2 ½ hours for dinner when there is only 7 people in your party seem crazy to me esp. when we ordered right when we sat down. Our server did the best she could with the amount of tables she had I felt sooooo bad for her. Mistakes will be made when you are running around with your head cut off. We always give most restaurants a second chance and we will go again maybe not on a busy night like that ever again. Management needs to step up big time

My favorite pizza in St. Charles. You might wait awhile for your drinks(they seem to be under staffed at times with the waitress admitting to also cooking, which for me adds to the character of this place) & the décor looks like your great aunt’s basement, but you don’t go there for the ambiance, now do you? You go there for the amazing salad & perfectly crisp Stl style pizza crust & fresh ingredients. They even sell a respectable Chicago style pizza that isn’t bad. I love this place.

Always verify this place delivers to your address. I am out of town on business staying at a large hotel. After waiting 1 hour I called asking when they would be here. It was at that point they Informed me they didn’t deliver here. Terrible customer service. NEVERORDERFROMHERE!

I read some of the reviews below before going, and noticed a lot of people gave negative remarks about the service and decour. I guess people have different criteria for what they find off-putting about the inside of the restaraunt. If that is your thing, then I can understand. However, we were all about some STL pizza(Love us some of that provel pizza!), and I couldn’t give a frog’s fat ass about how the place looks. We had the all-meat pie and felt like it was four stars easy… maybe a five if they would cut up the ham a little bit more. You could tell it was sliced right off the whole ham, and was delicious but just a little overwhelming in such big pieces. Still, I want to be clear that this pizza KICKEDMAJORBOOTY! I grew up in StL in the 80’s and know what StL Pizza should taste like. Awsome sauce… BAM! Thin, crispy crust… BAM! Fresh, delicious toppings… BAM! Toasted raviioli reflecting sheer perfection… BAM! We will fantasize about that pie all the way back to Texas. Note to owner: You are running your peeps into the ground. My wife and I sat and listened to you speaking harshly to your team. You must be the owner, because we could hear your intensity. Your waitresses were working two rooms and moving like ghosts. Ours was great, thanks. Anyways, you can do a lot more good having a private sidebar with an employee who is being lazy, not washing the dishes the way you prefer, or guilty of moving your two types of ham to the wrong table. The very public reprimands, even when you are upset, leaves people ashamed and holding silent grudges that kill loyalty like a mofo. You can’t be there 24/7, so wouldn’t it feel good knowing that the team you trust with your business looks up to you and has your back because disappointing you is their biggest motivation? Sorry to be so preachy, but what we listened to was difficult. We felt bad for everyone behind that wall, including you, and wonder if your guy finished washing his dishes, or got stuck washing dishes all night? You have great food… build your great team so you can share that super-freaking-crazy good pizza with the world.

We had the Chicago style pizza. Very bland and nothing like Chicago pizza. Service was not great either. Waitress came to table twice while our drinks were empty and did not ask to refill them. The third time she came she started to walk away and I had to stop her to ask if she would refill them.

We order delivery at least twice a month… this night time estimated was an hour… when a little over came, I called… they apologized and made a significant adjustment to our order… the food was primo… eggplant parmisiano was the best we’ve had… Sirloin burgers and fries more than one meals worth and Cannaloni supreme… Very impressive… and always a treat… thanks :)

Usually I come to the area once a year and I have to stop here to eat. Always get the lasagna, tonight got the New York style pizza, I think it’s one of the best New York style on this part of the country. Stop by, you won’t regret it.

The restaurant itself is very stuffy and the old building smell overpowers the food smell. Not really sure if that can be helped but it was off-putting. The salad was pretty good. The house dressing tasted like a garlic parmesan italian. It was also large enough for 2 – 3 people to share. Toasted ravioli was ok, but the sauce with them was bad. We got the NY style crust and it was very good, but the pizza itself was overly greasy. And this is my own preference but i dont like when the toppings are under the cheese, which is how they do it here. I prefer crispy pepperoni. Overall the crust was good, but nothing else about the pizza made it stand out for me.

Haven’t had their pizza yet, but tried a few salads and an appetizer. The Talayna’s salad with house dressing was awesome, great dressing. The Caesar salad was disgusting, soggy and sour. I took the croutons off both salads — they tasted like burnt greasy bread. The jalapeño poppers were good, nothing special, just confused why they were served with red sauce. I’d really like to go back for some pizza and a house salad.

I’ve been dropping by this place for years and the past couple of times I came here, I ordered carry-out. This place is dated and lacks much appeal on the inside but the staff is friendly and the food is good! The St. Louis style pizza is one of the best around.

Pros: Normally great food and decent service. Good dinner rolls and real butter! Cons: Dated. Seems dirty, worn out, dirty carpet. This time our pizza was badly burned.(They gave us another one.) Other food at our table appeared ok. The food was slow to arrive. Has to ask for more water.

Super slow service… I mean painfully long to get food. But it is Small Business Saturday. It honestly took 90 minutes to get our ticket order out of the kitchen. That’s nuts.

Best pizza I’ve ever had. I wish I could marry their pizza and have it every day for the rest of my life! And I’m only half joking. The thin crust is the way to go. Not to mention the house salad is to die for.

We usually order from this place on a Monday or Tuesday and the guy who delivers is ALWAYS so polite! The food matches the delivery service on this one, too. Great pizza, salads, sandwiches, toasted ravioli, and cheesey garlic bread. I recommend this place all the time to my friends.

I was recommended to this place. FANTASTIC St. Louis Style THIN crust Pizza! INCREDIBLE Baked Mostaccioli! TERRIBLE service. Worst I have had in a while… The other couple seated across from us, at the same time left after they too, waited 15 minutes for drinks! Watiress was rude and angered that I asked for a server. Isn’t that your job? They are lucky the food is great, I wouldn’t be back otherwise…

Just left Talayna’s in downtown St. Charles, MO. My sons and I are dinner there and everything was fine except the ½ order of baked Lasagna I ordered. It wasn’t very good, the tomato sauce did not taste fresh, more of a canned sauce that was bland. The Prego tomato sauce I buy at the supermarket has more flavor than that sauce did. There wasn’t very much meat in it and the ricotta cheese was very watery. I know how Talayna’s baked Lasagna is supposed to taste. I worked at the original location at the corner of Skinker Blvd and Forest Park Parkway on the west end of St. Louis when I was a teenager in the 1970’s. I should have known something was wrong with the restaurant when I walked in and there was only two guest eating on a Sunday afternoon. The carpet is completely worn out. When my waitress Asked me if I wanted to take the rest of my Lasagna home, I told her I did not like the Lasagna, but she ignored my comment. I was unable to eat the dish because it was that bad. I will not eat at that location ever again.

Who doesn’t love strolling down Main Street and stopping for a bite to eat at one of the many stops along the way? If you haven’t been to Talayna’s, then you must on your next trip out there. Its on the very end of everything, plenty of parking surrounding it. Make sure to start with a salad with their to-die-for homemade croutons. We usually get the Chicago style, which is oozing with flavor and will quickly fill you up. They seem to always have fresh ingredients and you will want to come back for more!

Ditto on all the good reviews, plus one of my more favorite Caesar salads, so if Caesar’s are your thing, they’re pretty yummy, and I’m pretty sure the dressing doesn’t come out of a bottle. We always get Chicago style. I think their Chicago style is the crown jewel of this no frills St Louis fixture in historic old town Saint Charles. Oh, and real ingredients. Not any of that pelletized imposter meat orb things utilized elsewhere. I recommend pepperoni and Italian sausage. Not endorsed by Jenny Craig, if you didn’t figure that out.
