Pretty good Mexican food! Fast service, food came out very quickly, and piping hot. Only complaint were the errors in our order. Wrong burrito meal was prepared, missing sour cream, I ordered a watermelon margarita and got lime, and another person with me ordered a margarita on the rocks and got frozen instead. I tried to look past those things and only the food– which I loved! I would definitely go back, because I’d still like to try a watermelon margarita!

Me and my kids love it here. The staff is always so great. It gets busy because it is so good. But they are as quick as possible. Margaritas are great. Love the guacamole and the fajitas are outstanding.

La Carreta is the best Mexican restaurant in St. Charles, and I would argue one of the best in the entire St. Louis Metro area. We always have a great meal here. It is a terrific place to take friends and family. They have a good mix of some traditional Mexican entrees that are outstanding, as well as the«American Mexican» food that most people know. The Texas Margarita is better than the basic margarita, it is worth the extra money. Ask for Javi who is one of the owners and he will take great care of you.

One of my favorite places for Mexican food in St Charles. While it’s true you have to cross the bridge for good Asian food, the best Mexican food is in St Charles.

Great Mexican restaurant in a nondescript strip mall. Menu had a huge number of choices, something for everyone. Myself and three others had a variety of foods/drinks and all were great. Will certainly be back if we are in the area.

Food came in in about 3 minutes, which anyone working in a restaurant knows that is way too fast. Food was lukewarm and bland. Would not go back. Service was great and atmosphere was good.

Food was OK salsa was spicy, ordered burrito and enchilada, was just warm not hot. My wife ordered burrito special with chicken again it was warm not hot had good flavor and good chunks of chicken. Tomatoes were sliced not diced. Think twice for second visit. Good atmosphere

I love this place. Everything we have had there has been good. Never disappointed. Their margaritas are the best. We split a half pitcher between 2 of us, but be prepared for dd to drive afterwards. That is some strong stuff. This place is smaller and can get busy quick. Unfortunately that means waiting in line to be seated, but it is well worth the wait!

Took my son here for his 3rd birthday dinner. He devoured a mini burrito and tacos, loved the chips, salsa and cheese dip. Our food was hot, flavorful and sizzling when they brought it to our table. Which was really quick, even on a Saturday night at 6pm when the place was ¾s full. The salsa was very good, and not too hot for a 3 year old. We’ll definitely be back.

Hands down the best Chili Colorado! Friendly and very polite staff. Never a bad experience. Great selection of tequilas… if you’re into that sort of thing. Get you some!

Of all the Chimis, El Maguey’s, El Tio Pepes, etc, La Carretta raises the bar! Clean, excellent service and by a landslide the food is the best!

We are here a couple days ago. The food was really good. The issue is that we were crammed in a corner by a table of 15ish people that had no regard to anyone else’s space. The interior was really small and no room to move. When it was time to leave we had to go find someone to give us our check and then fight our way out of the building. Great food but poor set up for the dining area and the entrance/exit.

I realize that the conception of what good Mexican food is is really a matter of personal taste, which would explain the five star reviews for this place. It’s not a bad place, in fact, I liked the smaller size, overall look, and cozy atmosphere. Unlike others, I received a warm greeting when I went in, and had excellent service from a very pleasant waiter. The margarita that I had actually tasted like it had alcohol in it, so kudos there. The food was… good, but not great. It wasn’t very hot when we received it(and we were there in the late afternoon before the dinner crowd), and while it was decent, it just wasn’t special. The beans and rice were underwhelming. A little fresh, chopped cilantro mixed in with the rice would have made a world of difference; a small bit of melted cheese on the beans would have been nice. The beans were flavorful, but a bit too runny. No problem, I scooped them up with the chips. The tamale had a good, smoky taste, but the meat was a bit dry and could have used more seasoning. The enchilada was good, but again, the meat was dry. The presentation was a bit lackluster. A tiny scoop of pico de gallo for color and dollop of guacamole or sour cream would have been two small things that would have made a big difference. My dining companion had a taco and burrito. He liked both, but said they lacked something. I think that’s the entire thing. The restaurant is good, but lacks something to make it great. This is not to say that we won’t be back. I think we’ll both just try something different next time.

Food was ok nothing special. It’s was my daughter 7 th birthday so we ask them if they can do something special. Like maybe sing. Well I wish we never did that. They brought out a plate with cream on it. Started to feed her and then put it ALL over her face !!! She got sooooo upset. I was trying so hard not to go crazy. I can’t believe that would do that to a child with telling the parent 1st. Right after that my daughter ask me to leave so we did. It was awful. I wi never ever go back there.

Food, drinks and atmosphere are all the perfect setting for kicking back after a long week to catch up with friends. However be prepared to wait. It can take a while to get refills or even get your order taken. If there is a line, I recommend looking at the menu before you are seated, and when you are seated, place your orders at the first chance. If you generally drink more than one beer, Order two, if you ask for another beer by the time your food arrives, you won’t see it till your done with your meal. Likewise, go with the big magarita, it’s cheaper per oz to go large plus your friends will want to share while waiting for their beers to arrive. All in all, it a good place, so long as you go in knowing the you have to wait. Not a good place for toddlers, unless you bring some kinda of snakes to keep them from getting restless.

This place is by FAR the BEST Mexican restaurant i’ve been too. No other restaurant’s steak compares to theirs. It’s tender and juicy and seasoned well. I usually get Steak nachos or a steak quesadilla. They are extremely fast and extremely nice. The only two things I would love to see change: Go back to the red and green chips, and possibly a bigger restaurant ! :)

The second in our quest for good Mexican food in St Louis. Mexican food varies by region in our country as well as region in Mexico, so it all boils down to personal taste. Actually it’s the third. We’ve been Hacienda on Manchester several times — not high on our list… but that’s another review. Really liked the look of the restaurant and I was greeted warmly upon my arrival. Nice & attentive staff. Liked the food. Margarita was a tad too sweet, but not enough for an additional shot to mitigate the sweetness.(There’s a trend away from marg. mix toward fresh lime, etc. to make the drink. We find this version lightly sweet & tart — are you reading, La Carreta?) I enjoyed my entrée which was grilled chicken strips(read fajitas) covered with a nice spinach sour cream sauce. Reminded me of a TexMex favorite Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas. Very nice. The chicken tasted great with a fresh off the grill flavor. Will definitely order again once I try a few other items on the menu. The only things I’ll comment about that I was’t thrilled with were the chips and flour tortillas. Just not great. Average. I like ‘lighter’(thinner?) crispier chips and these just weren’t great — just average to me. Also, the flour tortillas again were just OK. I’ll be back!
