El Maguey Mexican Restaurant

My Lady ordered a taco salad & it was worse than Hardee’s Red Burrito… and had a piece of plastic in it… I ordered a chimichanga beef & got chicken. Every time I have been there the service & food has gotten worse… it was a gift of a certificate for my Lady’s birthday & I left A 18% tip. If I was a young white girl & her friend that split an order of nachos, i would have gotten better service. I had to go to & he hid it till I got there. I’m not from here but my Lady has been a patron for nearly 20 years. WILL NEVER BE BACK…

Came to this place while on a business trip– Friday night around 5:40, seated by 6 and ordered pork chili verde. Order arrived at 6:40 as they were über busy. Fantastic meal, crispy outside and tender inside great with the cheese sauce, I’ll be back before I head for home!!!

It’s El Maguey… I mean what more do you want to know? The food is great, every time, the margaritas hit the spot, and the service is always fast and friendly. For a quick casual Mexican meal you can’t go wrong here!

Always extremely fast service! And they accommodate my needs when my order is complicated. I go at least once every week.

Best Mexican food in St.Charles.Been going here for 25 years. Never had a bad meal. Fajitas Special are the best. Definetly locals joint

This has become our «go to» for Mexican food. It is not fancy and the interior is a little run down. However the food is delicious, service is fast and friendly and it’s affordable. The salsa and margaritas are the best in St. Charles in my opinion.

It’s so close to the house, we try and go thinking it will be better but it never is. The service is always slow, we always have to ask for water. My girlfriend loves their margaritas though.
I think the real reason I don’t care for this place is their chips, they always taste old.

Great food at very reasonable prices! The menu is extensive but a lot of the items sound the same. We come here often and I’ve never had a bad meal. The service is always prompt and the margaritas are always great.

I ordered the Fajita Volcan and it was delicious ;rich in flavor and very fresh. The dinner portions are pretty big. My entrée could have been easily share between two people a side from that the service was fast, friendly & the prices were great.

My favorite go to for Mexican in the St. Charles area. My usual I the crispy taquitos with a side of their fresh guacamole. Always fresh and delicious.

El. Maguey is a perfect choice if you are crunched for time! Everytime I come here we are greeted promptly and my order is taken very fast!
Our group came here yesterday about an hour before the Cardinals game, I told the guy we were in a hurry to get home before the start and he was more than accommodating to my time request. he immediately took our drink order and took our food order as soon as the drinks came back.
Everybody at my table got fajitas and when they came to the table they were still sizzling hot! The food is your typical St. Charles county style mexican but that’s not a bad thing! I haven’t had anything on the menu that wasn’t delicious. And the beers are always ice cold, we all know thats important!
The place is kind of small and the bathrooms are a little scary, but the place has also been there forever so you can understand that a little bit. The checkout process can be a pain but its a small price to pay for quick service and good food.
Overall, whether you’re looking for a quick meal out or looking for a place to hang with friends and throw back a few beers. El maguey os an excellent choice!

This is my comfort food. Always absolutely delicious, generous with the portions, and cheap. Even if you order takeout they give you a big bag of fresh warm chips and a cup of salsa.

The food was very good, hot and fresh! I got the grilled chicken tacos and was very pleased. Simple but yummy. Also, I always am super pleased when the chips aren’t too salty, and our basket was never empty!
Not to mention the peach margarita was fabulous!

The food was really good for St. Louis Mexican. We just moved here from California and it was some of the best we have had

This is a pretty good place for Mexican food, I would say better than the place we went to prior to this one during work lunch break. I had the cheese enchilada topped with pork and ranchero sauce and it was quite nice. The guacamole tasted really fresh which I liked because I have been to some Mexican restaurants with brown-​ish guacamole which does not look appetizing at all. The service was fast and decent and the food was overall, appealing to the palate so I give it a 4 and would definitely come back here!

Excellent Mexican food, fresh and reasonably priced. My husband get the Fajitas Especial, which is huge and flavorful. i like the Tamales. the Carne Asada is pretty salty there. The staff is friendly, although sometimes our take out order gets screwed up, since they don’t all speak English well enough to understand special requests over the phone.

I was on the fence about this El Maguey until my last visit. New menu. New entrees. Hawiian Chicken. All of my favorite things, I’m in love. Since I’m not going to waste mexican food cravings on anything else, this will be the only El Maguey I’m going to for a very long time!

I have no idea why these people have written bad reviews on this restaurant. I have been to several El Maugey restaurants in the area, while all are good this one is the best. I go probably at least one time per week and the food is ALWAYS excellent and service is great. Margarita’s are to die for. I recommend the Pollo Loco, or really anything on the menu. I have never had a bad meal here. The ONLY problem is that sometimes there is a language barrier because pretty much everyone is native Spanish speaking, with English as a 2^nd language. The place is always clean, food is good, and service is excellent. They have a kids menu, and will try to accommodate special requests. Prices are affordable
