Olympic Pool and Spa

Since we purchased a home with a pool that was installed by Olympic, we had to let their guys come in to do the pool inspection and opening in the spring in order to transfer the warranty. Since it was a salt-​water pool, there was minimal work in terms of chemicals and etc., but I was glad to have strong guys to take the covers off and get it cleaned up. Well, I was surprised that they took the pool cover off, folded it up and put it in the mesh bag without cleaning and drying. When I asked if it will get moldy, they guy told me to let the bag sit in the sun for a few days and then store in a cool dry place without rodents. So, I spent the next week rolling the bag around my pavement trying to get sun on all sides and then stored it away for the summer. Imagine my annoyance this weekend when I got the pool cover out for closing and it was covered in mold all over. So for $ 375, the Olympic Pool guys came to dump a container of chemicals and make my pool cover moldy. Would not recommend them for pool opening — very disappointed.

Worst pool store ever walked around for 20 minutes nobody seamed to care if I needed help they ignored us. Then I ask if this is the right pool vacuum hose for my pool. I get home and it doesn’t fit it’s for an above ground pool. Then my wife goes to return it the next day and they give her so much grief I just want the right vacuum hose worst place ever not friendly stay away from here go some where else a bunch of crooks. They just lost a few customers. Go to Tucci Bros in Nutley so much nicer people and better customer service

Olympic installed my beautiful in-​ground swimming pool approximately five years ago. John was my salesperson, and he was very helpful every step of the way. Not only was he friendly but he did a wonderful job of making me and my husband feel comfortable with the entire installation process. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and even though our swimming pool is now five years old, we still go to Olympic to see John and the staff whenever we have an issue (which is rare). We have recommended Olympic and John to all of our friends and family members; they are a wonderful family-​owned company and everyone there is pleasant to work with and they do wonderful work!
This is my first review on Unilocal and I felt inclined to defend John & Olympic after coming across Nick P’s review. I think it is unfair to come on a website and write filth about someone who has no way to defend himself. To everyone else: if you are looking for a swimming pool come to Olympic and speak with John, you will not be disappointed.

Don’t use them. Hired them to open my pool. all they did was take my cover off, primed the filter and threw some chemicals in the pool. It’s a salt water pool. They didn’t start the salt generator or check salt levels. They didn’t vacuum. They charged me almost as much as my prior pool guy, and did half the job. Awful. Do not use them!

I have been going to the FLANDERS NJ store for the past 2 years for my supplies and I trusted these people. Big Mistake!!! I kid you not. They offer «pool opening». What that entails is $ 40.00 of chemicals and $ 210.00 for them to pour it in. They never told me that. I thought they were going to vacuum it out as well for that price so sounded like a good deal. I would never have paid that much money for just some chemicals and 2 guys to come out and pour it in. My cover was already off, we had the pump already running. So they literally just poured in the $ 40.00 worth of chemicals and put the ladder in. We could have done that ourselves. When I called the owner. He was rude and defensive. He was mad I even questioned it. No business etiquette. Something tells me I’m not the only one he’s screwed over. In my opinion, these people are shady and purposely make it sound like they are doing a big job for you when in fact they know what they are doing isn’t worth half of what they charge. I will never use these people again. I advise that if you ever see an ad that sounds too good, stay away. It’s a ploy to reel you in and steal your hard earned money. Do it yourself for $ 40 bucks. TOTAL RIP OFF!!! I will definitely close the pool myself. Was gonna use them but HELL NO!

I’ve had a pool growing up but I was so lost when I bought a house with a pool. I shopped here and there at many other pool supply stores in bergen and middlesex county, and this is definitely the best. I’ve always had consistent friendly service. They explained what I needed nicely (not impatiently like some places) and did not sell me what I did not need. For example, instead of buying a whole new vacuum head they told me the piece I needed that had broken off saving me money. They will work with the chemicals you have so you’re not buying tons and tons of chemicals.
They do check your water, tell you what and how much you need of something, the order to put it in your pool, and yes, they are open sundays half day.
