Katie G has the best UYE’s! I also love her UYE talk thread. And her. And her dogs. Even though I’ve never met them. I was apprehensive at first about attending her Briar Patch UYE because I don’t smoke and I’m super super against smoking anything. She immediately made me feel better so I decided not to cancel and still go to the UYE and I’m glad I did! I had a great time hanging out with everyone even though I was the only one who didn’t smoke because it wasn’t weird at all and just chill and relaxed. I did end up having a few drinks before the event(in typical Jenni fashion) and we ordered some more wine from next door when we were at the event. I may or may not have had too much to drink. The Briar Patch staff was super friendly and accommodating and it was just a nice relaxing evening. We decided to continue the night and head over to the Coin Op afterwards, but that’s a story for another night. For someone else to tell. Because I don’t remember. Thank you again Katie, I can’t wait for the next one!

Oh Katie G. you brought out the naughty in me. Cigar, that is. Briar Patch — — I don’t often get a chance to partake in tightly rolled tobacco missles, and on this evening, Katie arranged for this small group of Unilocalers to meet at this downtown cigar shop and lounge to experience a good cigar. We had privileged access to the lounge area after selecting a cigar(or other fine tobacco) from the well arranged inventory and with the assistance of a shop expert. You don’t smoke, you say. Well, that was ok too. There were no smokers present, enjoying their wine and/or cognac. An attempt at a chess match was near the rear of the lounge, various shows were on the box, recliners reclined. It was a BYOB event or have the wine place around the corner deliver. It was a nice change to relax and mingle in this casual environment with fellow Unilocal peeps. I’m sorry if you missed this UYE. I don’t suggest you miss another. Thank You Katie G for making this gathering possible. It was truly enjoyable and would do it again.

My reply to Katie G. when she sent out this UYE invite; «you had me at Cigars.» No, I’m not a Jerry Maguire fan but, I do love cigars. Topped with a few bottles of wine. Great fellowship with some really cool SACTO Elites then, throw in lots of laughs and there you have one hell of a UYE event. One for books I’d like to add. Thanks so much for putting this together Katie. It was waaaaay worth the 70 mile drive. I’d also like to say. it was great meeting, hanging out with and talking with you Lucy, Jackie(and Randy?), both Jenny P. and Jenny T. John H. and Erwin(aka: the Mouthwash Man). Until the next time. Stay frosty!

So much fun! I’m so glad we got to do this UYE. All of my favorites were here, well most of them anyway. There’s not many things I enjoy more in life than wine, cigars, and friends that make me laugh. Briar Patch has an awesome lounge, complete with tv, comfy chairs, magazines, mini bar area, and humidor lockers for members? I almost want to turncoat from Perfecto and come here exclusively. In fact, I think I will. Briar Patch staff are amazing. The walk in humidor is impressive. The size of this location is deceiving if you go by what you see outside the front door. Doogie Howser recommended the Avo line, and I am so glad I listened. Justin was pretty charming, too. I mean obviously, if I remember his actual name. Got to pose with a giant Maximus cigar. It’s kind of my thing. Check the handle. Katie and Lucy picked out some excellent wines to enjoy. Later we continued the party at the Coin Op Bar. Jackie brought her Mary Poppins purse. I even got a complimentary walk home from David O. Thanks to everyone! You guys are the best!

The Cigars, Vino, & Pinot UYE was such a blast! I didn’t even know there was a cigar lounge in downtown Sacramento… did you? The Briar Patch is a cozy lounge where cigar aficionados can enjoy a good smoke, a cognac, or any adult beverage of choice… and that is exactly what we did at this event. This was a BYOB event, and with that said I brought a chilled bottle of Sparkling Rose from Heringer Estates to share with my friends. As part of this event we were given a tour of the humidor and had opportunities to ask questions about the different types of cigars and tobacco. After the tour we meandered to the lounge where we were allowed to enjoy the cigars or loose pipe tobacco we had selected and purchased. The lounge area was quite«man cavefish», which makes sense since there was time when only men were allowed in places like this. There was a wet bar on one side of the room. In the center of the lounge there were several oversized crushed leather club chairs arranged in a large semi circle in from of an absurdly large flat screen TV. And by the way the chairs were super comfortable. Overall, the Briar Patch is a great hideaway for those of you cigar aficionados who just want to chill out and enjoy a beverage and a smoke after a long day at work or with good company like we did. This was a perfect mid-week event and I would like to thank Katie for setting it up! Additional Shout Outs: Jenny P that was an extremely thick cigar what the [bleeep] was that? I love your sweet dainty girly tobacco pipe Jackie, that was super cute. John H, I love the aloha shirt but expect to see the freshly washed and pressed one next time; Tony A, your wine selection was dead on; Katie, your skill and ability to maneuver the club recliner chair was hilarious, Jenni T, I love the new red clutch; Erwin, how did you discover the mouthwash again?; Randy, how did you find that dark chocolate cigar… it smelled yummy.
