Jack’s Towing

If I could give a thousand stars I would for Jack’s Towing I would! Truly one of the best Companies ever!
I was stuck in Sacramento with my Brother, I had to get back to the Bay Area… The driver who was contracted for the job (through AAA) came out, was friendly, happy, and didn’t mind the 2 hour drive to the bay and back to Sacramento.

I called in for a tow and gave the guy my information. The dispatcher said the driver would call me and I ended up waiting over an hour with no call before I called back. The dispatcher wrote my number wrong. He wasn’t even apologetic. You’d think if the driver called the wrong number the dispatcher would check caller ID to confirm the number.
The second time I called back the dispatcher said the driver would contact me at the correct number, but never did. Other reviews confirm the same behavior, so avoid these guys.

Recently, my Chevy Tahoe broke down while at work, and I needed to get it towed. I didn’t choose Jack’s, but my insurance company did. I was told that the truck would be there within 45 minutes. They finally arrived after 50+ minutes, so it wasn’t a huge extended wait, but it was an extended wait nonetheless. I ended up calling the office to see where the guy was, and they were able to tell me he was close by, at which point I did see him and got him flagged down. I didn’t catch the operator’s name, but he was a big guy and was very nice. He treated my truck with care, and got me loaded up on the flatbed within about 15 minutes. I found out I did have the option to just tell him where to tow the truck, but I had already planned to ride along to the shop. Sadly, the tow truck had NO A/​C. Even more sadly, it was 105 degrees out. So it was a pretty hot ride along, to say the least. I felt bad for the guy, but he shrugged it off, saying most tow trucks did not have A/​C. Really? Are you kidding me? We’re in Sacramento. All cars should have A/​C. Oh well. Anyway, while he could have gotten to me sooner, and while I would have preferred A/​C, the point is that he got my truck towed to where it needed to go and was courteous and friendly in the process. If I had another situation where I needed a tow truck, I wouldn’t at all shy away from using Jack’s. Unless it was over 90 degrees. Then I might call around for a truck with A/​C.

Great company! They were very punctual and their price was the best in town. I will be using them whenever i need!

I have never had a tow service not show up. They made us wait an entire hour before I had to call back to be told they were not going to come at all. My wife and I had to find another service provider. I will never call on them again.

I will NOT be using this tow company ever again. I have AAA and Jacks towing was sent out to help me. I will be calling AAA with a complaint about my experience last night. I don’t know if this employee was high or new but he didn’t do his job very well. Worst experience I’ve ever dealt with.

If you break down and this is the company that shows up, I’m going to advise you to walk. And yes, this is a real story. I couldn’t make it up if I tried.
Our car died on 99 in Galt. We were told the truck would be there in an hour but it was an additional 45 minutes after that. Ok, no biggie. The guy shows up, turns the truck off and tells us he’s out of gas so we’ll have to stop once we get loaded up. I immediately think it would probably be easier to do that before you tow a car, but okay, just get me out of here. Making small talk, he then informs us he’s had a slow day because he only has basic training and can’t take many of the calls that came in. I’m not getting warm fuzzies hearing this.
Once the car is up we go to get in the truck and it was filthy. I mean, FILTHY, sticky stuff on the seat food particles all over, filthy. I don’t expect a limo but this was over the top. In addition, my seat belt was broken. (illegal and unsafe). We go 2 miles, stop for gas. He leaves the truck running (with us in it) while he fills up. NOT SAFE. Then proceeds to start chatting with some guy at another pump for abut 5 minutes after we filled up. We load back up, start driving, and an alarm goes off and all the lights on the dash light up. The truck is overheating now. While we are on the freeway with our car in tow, he decides to throw it in neutral and rev the engine. ON THE FREEWAY. Temp doesn’t drop so we pull over to a gas station. Wait 15 minutes to cool down, he does nothing and just says, «yeah, this is our backup truck so it never gets serviced.» I’m about to lose my mind right now but after more than 3 hours I want to get home. So we start driving again.
It starts overheating again. He throws it in neutral 3 more times while we are driving on the freeway. To mask the sound of the alarm from the dash he just turns the radio up to drown it out and blasts the heater to cool the engine. We are going about 50mph on the freeway and finally reach our exit in West Sac. As we start to come down the off ramp, the truck just dies completely as we are approaching an intersection with a four way light (mind you I have a broken seat belt). I’m screaming, terrified we’re going to run in to traffic. He throws it in neutral again and gets it to start just in time to break and screech around the turn with our car still in tow. As we approach the repair shop we were going to he pulls in and we ask him to park the car along the side of the lot (it is a Sunday, so we don’t want to block the bays). This requires him to back in and we actually ask if he knows how, given what we have seen. He says yes, and we spend the next 10 minutes with him pulling into the street and blocking traffic, while trying to back in straight. yes, straight! On the final attempt, (mind you we can’t hear anything because the radio is so loud) we look out the rear window and our car is completely jack-​knifed behind the tow truck. We scream for him to stop, tell him to pull forward and just pull the car in straight and drop it. We get out, and see that when the car went sideways, he smashed in the whole rear and tore off our bumper when it slammed up against the tow truck.
As we get out, I ask for insurance information and he informs us he doesn’t have it. Apparently, it isn’t important enough for Jack’s to follow California law and carry proof of insurance in every vehicle that is owned. The company was closed, so we called AAA to ask what to do along with our insurance agent. We took pictures of the car still hitched up with the damage. Its now been 3 hours since he got to us, to drive 30 minutes.
We called the tow truck company 3 times the next morning and it was not until 2PM they finally responded to us. The next day, they tried to inform us (via email, yes, we have all this in writing) that they already sent their adjuster to look at the car, they would not pay us more than a little over $ 1000 to fix it (at their shop only) and would not pay for a rental car for more than 3 days at $ 25 per day, with no mileage or insurance. We told them we wanted to take it to a BMW approved auto body shop to be sure we got OEM parts. They then tried to tell us there were no OEM parts for our car (not true), so it didn’t matter where we took it. This back and forth went on 3 days while we, and our insurance company tried to get answers to work with them. We were trying to do them a favor by not going thru their insurance but after they tried to strong arm us into using their company and telling us what they would and would not pay (again, totally against the law) we finally decided to file thru our insurance company and get it fixed properly.
To sum it up, the driver and this company not only wrecked our car (6 days in the shop for repair), but they put our lives in danger several times. How this company is contracted with AAA is beyond me. You’re safer hitchhiking than getting a ride with Jack’s. Absolutely, HORRIBLE company

One of the worst towing companies. I expect people to write pretty upset reviews when it comes to towing matter, bc frankly no one ever looks forward to having to call a tow company. I try to stay pretty positive and patient as I waited the 60 – 90 min estimate they provided, trying to keep in mind that being angry doesn’t help any situation… but I waited & waited. I called the company after my insurance confirmed the tow service was set, to ensure all infor and efficency for the service, MARY, obviously one of their few receptionist isn’t one of the nicest or pleasant persons to talk to. Her tone was the least helpful and the attitude bleed through my phone. I stayed positive. until the 90 mins has well passed 90 min. I called back, Mary responds with its on its way and will be there in 5. I asked her to patch out to her driver to confirm his current location and which direction he was coming from, after 4 more mins on hold & waiting, she tells me which freeway junction the driver is at! Which is no where near my location! So I said, so an add’l 20 mins? She said «no, only 10 at most». I know the location the driver was at, no way only 10, but it wasn’t worth arguing-​she was a rude robotic person who’s role was to delivered false hope to customers and make a bad situation worst. So unfortunate.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Judging by the women that I was dealing with, this place has the worst customer service ever. I not sure how the rest of the employees in this company is, but for sure I will never call them for a tow nor recommend them to anyone.

They’re a little rough around the edges (it’s a towing company…) but they came when they said they would and it cost what they quoted … Simple and efficient. I’d use again.

I was stranded with a broken down vehicle 90 miles from Sacramento. There were no repair shops nearby that would be able to fix my VW Van quick enough. I needed to get to Sacramento. These guys were willing to negotiate price and the driver was very kind, professional, and easy to talk to for our 1.5 hour drive.
Highly recommended!

My husbands car died at work, he called jacks. An hour and half later a hut showed up, decided he couldnt do it and said he needed a flat bed truck and left. He waited another hour and a half for the other tow to show up. Ridiculous. Never using them again!

Nothing is more frustrating than car trouble. My car was stalling out on me, so I called AAA to get a tow. My tow truck driver had my car up on the truck in a matter of minutes and we were on the road. Very friendly guy and the next day Jack’s Towing called me to ask if everything went ok. It’s always good to see a business put in a little extra effort.

I feel a little embarrassed for reviewing again, but I need to say this; Jack’s Towing is great! The same gentlemen who towed my truck last week came again as my car broke down once again. This time I looked at his name-​tag and found out his name is Michael!
Michael is quick. I called Progressive, they said they would call me back when they found someone. Five minutes later, I receive an automated call saying Jack’s Towing will be arriving soon. Less than ten minutes later, Michael arrives. It can’t get any quicker than that.

These people are beyond poor service. As stated they created $ 1500 worth of damage using a metal bar and hard plastic wedge denting both doors! Paint chipping, scratching and now my passenger door won’t shut all the way. They are fighting the payment to damages and won’t send me a check for damage estimates even AFTER they sent their own appraiser who verified that the damage was created by them. BE WARNED stay away from these people unless you want a severe headache. I am calling AAA to make sure they no longer recommend these shabby people to good customers. BBB gets a call as well.

Ah, the tow truck driver. One of the only service people you just can’t decided whether you love or loathe.
They have gotten me out of quite a few pinches, and for free thanks to AAA. Many times, those handy helpers are friendly but sometimes they’re not.
Take for instance today, when I sat and waited 40 minutes to get my car battery jumped. This little guy (picture Khan from King of the Hill, both in looks and in voice/​accent) shows up from Jack’s, doesn’t even say «hi» or barely five words to me. No smiling either. Anyway, he jumped my car and told me to keep it running for 30 minutes. What??? 30 minutes?
He insisted that if I didn’t keep the car running for this long then the battery wouldn’t hold the charge. He was wrong, of course.
What’s really wrong, though, is that these companies are allowed to seize our property and then hold it for ransom. Not. A. Fan. Even if they do know how to work a slim jim.

Our car died tonight while trying to get to the dog park. We called Progressive and waited an hour for Tony? to come to tow us home. He was a nice guy and took care of everything. We couldn’t get our car in our apartment’s complex parking lot because of the hump at the gate. He tried, but decided not to because he didn’t want to scratch our rear end. So he drove around a few times and a few U turns later, he successfully got it in a spot, and pushed it back between the curb and the bike lane. Overall, good service and small talk in the truck.

What nice people at Jack’s. My car was hanging out there in the center divide — literally on the center divide and the driver from Jack’s took care and attention to get it off the divide without a scratch. He changed the tire and towed the car all in just over an hour.
Jack’s is a member of AAA road service and I would not hesitate to call on them to work on my Volvo again.
The driver was a little prickly at first but I believe it was due to the nature of the call, the traffic and hectic nature of the tow. At the end he was as sweet as pie and a very likable young man. Thanks, Jack’s
