Dr. Patel received his DDS from the University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry. He capped off a successful senior year by being awarded the outstanding achievement award in the Academy of Restorative Dentistry. After graduating he completed a residency at UOP in advanced education in general dentistry where he graduated with highest honors as the class valedictorian and now also serves as a faculty member. Dr. Patel is proficient in a wide range of state-​of-​the-​art dental procedures and techniques which are reinforced by his pursuit of continuing education at the highest level. For his contributions to dental education, he has been awarded the prestigious Mastership of the Academy of General Dentistry and Fellowship of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Patel has a gentle, kind bedside manner and is very excited to get to know you and your family! We look forward to building a lasting, trusting relationship with you and provide the highest quality dental care.

The staff is SUPER friendly, really great women working there, extremely helpful when it came to scheduling my appointment. The teeth cleaning I had was painless, and the hygienist who did it was phenomenal. They were able to address all of my concerns (I was worried about a cavity, and the dentist came in to check it out and assured me it was just a small stain in one of the grooves of my teeth)
I knocked off a star because the dentist was a little awkward with me. I had inquired about whitening, and he told me about how they can fit me with custom trays I can use with any type of gel for the rest of my life for $ 400. When I told him I was only interested in whitening over the next month (in preparation for my wedding), he still pushed for the $ 400 option, even though I mentioned it was a bit out of my price range.

This was my first visit to Dr. Patel’s office. I recently moved to Sacramento from the Bay Area. Getting all my information transferred over, the consultation, and X-​rays were seamless. I’m usually just shy of excited to go to the dentist, but this visit was different. I was going to get my wisdom teeth removed! This was the first time I’ve had to do anything more than getting a cavity filled, so for the first time i was filled with the fear that most people have of the dentist.
But Dr. Patel and Pam, helped smooth over my anxiety. They assured me that it would be a painless procedure, and i was sure they tell everyone this just to calm them down. Let me tell you, they were right it was NO PAIN AT ALL! In fact, I was waiting on him to begin to remove the first tooth, and he informed me we were all done! We all shared a laugh because of how nervous i was for nothing! Everyone in the office is super nice and professional! I can assure you Dr. Patel now has a new patient for life!

I was a patient of Dr. Gibbs for several years and enjoyed him as a dentist and as a person, for we had science classes together at CSUS prior to him becoming a dentist. He’s very personable and knowledgeable. He provided great dental care and was surrounded by a professional staff in a relaxing office that made going to the dentist a pleasureable experience! When I received the letter regarding Dr. Giggs retirement, I had reservations swiching to Dr. Patel who took over his practive, however, I am happy to share that I’m very pleased with Dr. Patel. The office area is as inviting as before and the experience so far has been very good regarding my dental care. I highly recommend Dr. Patel to new patients and look forward to continuing with him as my new dentist!

I had be seeing my prior dentist for the last ten years. Never had a bad experience, just the normal stuff anyone might expect for both visits and dentist/​patient interactions so I was happy. Then one day I received a letter stating my dentist was retiring and that the staff would continue under a new practice. Not liking the idea of being placed with someone new I started to shop around and that’s when it happened.
I chose to see Dr Patel based on some great reviews thinking there must be something to this place. I was very nervous on my first visit however the staff was great asking me what I like in a dentist, what I don’t like, just really trying to tailor the experience to me. I was feeling hopeful but then to come to find out I had some cavities and it was time to schedule the appointment to fix it. I was shocked to find there was a three month wait for the next opening. Three months? I’m used to about a week with my former. Annoyed with the delay in time I still agreed to the appointment and followed through. Let me tell you now I am so thankful I did. Not only does Dr Patel have TVs with Netflix in every room to watch while they work on you to distract your mind while drilling/​filling teeth but they also will explain everything. They truely care about your well being from start to finish. The most amazing thing to me was after my cavities were filled about a week later. My cell phone rang, I saw it was the dentist office so I answered concerned perhaps there was something else they found later. Nope, they were following up just to make sure I was doing well and hadn’t felt any discomfort with everything now being all settled. Doesn’t sound all that impressive right, doctors and dentist office follow up with patients all the time right? How many times do you get called by the actual doctor or dentist you saw on your follow up call??? I know I am not used to this at all. It was so nice to have had the dentist calling that way IF I had any issues I could have voiced them right there with the expert that knows my mouth and what may need to be done.
I am so thankful I found Dr Patel and I will be a loyal patient moving forward. I have no interest in seeing other dentist now that I understand how good the quality can and should be. Even my fiancé plans to switch over to his office just bc of the stories I have told her. You don’t find customer service like they offer much anymore, don’t miss this opportunity and make an appointment with him asap. It’s well worth whatever wait you may find I promise you.

I have a HUGE fear and anxiety when even thinking about going to the dentist, let alone having a crown or a filling. So much, that I put off getting my teeth fixed years. Enter Dr Patel. His compassionate ability to calm the situation is incredible. He offered music, Netflix, television (from two different screens) headphones, and even reminded me to just breathe.
I was told to plan on about an hour and half for the appointment to have a crown out on and I was out of the chair in no time. It was quick, painless and not nearly anything like I would have imagined. In fact, Im going back for another one today!
I really like him and his staff. The office has been re-​done recently and is a beautiful, calming, aesthetically pleasing look.

Please READ THIS REVIEW, as it is probably one of the most important ones you will find. Few people have better insight into a dentist’s ethics and quality of work than a fellow dentist. Many of my patients who are moving or have family in the Sacramento area ask me who I would recommend. Without hesitation, I send them to Dr. Patel.
As a patient, it is nearly impossible to judge the quality of a dentist’s work or their ethics. You can get a «feel» for how good you think they are, but you’ll never REALLY know what is going on. Even another dentist would be hard-​pressed to make accurate judgments about these things without having intimate knowledge of their practice style.
For example, a dentist may give the most painless injections and have the greatest personality, but actually perform terrible work and be ripping you off at the same time. In the same token, a dentist who isn’t personable and isn’t perceived to be «good,» could be the most capable dentist in town.
The point is, Dr. Patel IS one of the best dentists in town and you’ll just have to trust me on that. Though I know hundreds of dentists, I can count on one hand the number I would allow near MY mouth. Dr. Upen Patel is one of them. The previous statement speaks for itself. If you’re looking for a compassionate and ethical dentist with excellent hand skills, look no further.

I have always feared the trip to the dentist even for a simple cleaning … When I found out my old dentist had retired (not until I was already in the office) and I would be seeing a new dentist Dr Patel I was very nervous.
I was referred out for a root canal and just went back to Dr Patel for my temp crown. I can’t say enough good things about him. I know longer fear going to the dentist. He was so gentle with the injections I never felt a thing but a little pressure. At the time of my appt the weather was horrible and towards the end of Dr Patel putting my temp crown on the electricity went out in the entire building for a while. Obviously that meant his tools would not work.
Dr Patel was extremely patient with me as I was getting nervous that he wouldn’t be able to finish since I had a late afternoon appt. He even said he would hand craft something to fill the space until I could come back the next day if the electricity didn’t come back on. Luckily about half hour and the lights were back on and he was able to finish.
My mother knows my fear of the dentist all too well and after I raved about him to her now she wants to switch dentist and make the 1.5 hour drive to Sacramento to start seeing him.
Dr Patel explained the procedure in great detail to me so I understood everything before he started. He even called me the next morning himself to make sure everything was ok with my temp crown .

I was looking for a new dentist in a hurry because I’m having problems with some old work. I browsed through Unilocal and Dr Patel’s office was the one I chose. They got me an appointment for the very next morning. The office staff was really welcoming, the hygienist awesome and Dr Patel was about the coolest, nicest, most professional and intelligent dentist I have ever encountered. I got my teeth cleaned and ex rays done in the same day and plans were made to handle any work moving forward. If you’re afraid of going to the dentist I can promise you’ll change your mind when you come here.

I have had the great pleasure of working as a dental assistant for Dr.Patel. As a dental assistant, I tend to be a bit trepidatious about going to another medical professional. All I can say is that Dr. Patel always exceeds my expectations. He is professional, meticulous, very detailed, and honest. He also has a great manner with his patients and seems to remember what is going on outside of the dentist chair.
I know some of the office staff very well. I know they are extremely helpful. They will go the extra mile to work out the right billing for your insurance.
I’m not the type to write reviews, period, especially for my dentist, but he is pretty amazing!

I travel up and down the state often for work. And, I have to say for something that I usually dread doing, Dr. Patel made my visit to the dentist a pleasant one! From the moment you walk in, the friendly staff and calming ambiance puts your nerves at ease. Follow that by Dr. Patel’s gentle and friendly demeanor and vast knowledge of his craft, and you can’t help but feel that you are in good hands! He even gave me some freebies for the road! I will definitely be utilizing him as my dentist when I am in town.
*I only give 4 stars instead of 5 because I think he could use some goodies in the waiting room, although he tells me they’re coming soon :)

If I were to highlight one thing about Dr. Patel, it would be his hand skills and thoroughness. It is virtually impossible to know what a dentist is doing in your mouth, but with this guy, he is so good at what he does, that he shows you pictures of what he is doing step by step, and its phenomenal!
Its amazing how dentists can repair F’d up teeth. Anyhow, I highly recommend this dentist to anyone who values quality. After all you have one mouth and you want someone super thorough to work on you. 10 Stars to Dr. Patel for having passion and talent at what he does!!!

Have known him since his dental school days. Great person and a great dentist. Very relaxed environment and can be quite funny. Genuinely cares for his patients. Also strives to be the best and to learn and keep up with the latest in dentistry. Give him a chance and am sure he will come through for you. BTW, he has a British accent when he speaks which is kinda annoying … just kidding. No one hates the British accent. But really I am very picky and I go to him.

Dr. Patel took out 3 of my wisdom teeth in December 2013.
Dr. Patel made me feel very comfortable about the procedure and he answered all my questions very patiently. He worked quickly and carefully and gave me clear directions on what to do after the procedure to minimize pain and speed the healing process.
He checked in on me after the procedure and really cared about how I was doing. Skilled, patient, and very competent dentist! Would highly recommend.
