Went here for lunch with one of my suppliers. Had a great meal. Have been to beni Hanas for years but this place is better. The rice was prepared with tons of bacon giving it a great flavor. Had filet mignon and scallops. Off the hook. Will be back again very soon.

Love this place! I tried the fried rice, salmon, hot wings, shrimp, garlic chicken and everything is very good. Lunch time is until 3:45pm and the prices are more reasonable. You can also sit at the bar 3pm-6pm for Happy hour, few good choices of Sushi for $ 4! Sitting by the grill while they do their tricks with the food and fire is great! Kids would love it. very entertaining!

They use a spray bottle of water to pretend to try to put out the fire they make in front of you, only the spray bottle is a plastic man that they pump up and down, and while they pump, the pants of the plastic man come down and makes him«pee». This isn’t something I want to think about while getting served dinner. Disgusting. I was asked if my water could be refilled and the waitress took my water and another water at the same table(both had straws) and took them both to the back to refill. She then brought them both out again, refilled, with straws in them. That’s not appropriate, how do I know she didn’t accidentally switch the glasses? Needless to say, I did not drink out of that glass again. The only saving grace was the bacon in the fried rice.

I was a bit disappointed with my visit. I came in and everything started off well! We ordered and once our chef came, my friend and I could tell that he wasn’t exactly happy. Throughout the entire cooking process, he didn’t really cater to his audience which, I mean isn’t that the point? I think towards the end, he started to become a bit more friendly, but I wasn’t happy with his initial performance. Now for the food, the sushi that we ordered, the Ninja roll, was good, but it was so heavy! Aren’t authentic sushi rolls supposed to be light and not crammed with that many heavy and unnecessary ingredients? I felt like that roll was way too filling and I mean, the price was worth it, but the quality of the food was lacking. The one thing that I absolutely loved about this place is their friend rice with bacon! It is delicious. However, we ordered shrimp and chicken and the shrimp was really good, but when the chicken was cooked, it was definitely overlooked and laden in sauce again. I definitely had wanted to experience this place at least once and I’m glad I did! However, I don’t think I will be coming back.

Food was very good food and great performance! Kind of pricey but worth it. Will have to check out the bar next time. P. S. They do not do individual checks.

Had our company Christmas party yesterday and it was GREAT! I had the scallops and they were the best I have ever had. Melted in my mouth and full of flavor! My husband and I have had their Bento boxes for lunch and they were good but apparently the food prepared on the Teppan Grill is far superior. Heard more than one comment about how the fried rice was the best they ever had! Must be the bacon, but I loved it as well. Can’t wait to go back. I have paid double the price for scallops in other restaurants and none compared!

We live out in Rancho Cordova, so it’s rare that we come all the way out to Natomas to eat. However, my wife and I love Japanese food, and we’ve never had a bad experience at a hibachi grill. We’ve been here before, but it’s been a couple of years, so I thought it was only right to wait till we came back before I gave this place a fair review. We came here on Thursday night with a group of friends before going across the street to see Star Wars. We didn’t want to settle for snacks from Walmart while we were waiting in line, so we opted for steak and calamari over pretzels, Jujubes, and Pringles. A wise choice for those of us who don’t have the metabolism of a 15-year old anymore. Anyway, there was a group of five of us, and we got seated a little after 5pm. However, Tokyo Steakhouse has a policy that everyone in the group must be there before you are seated at the hibachi grill. Since my wife and I got there early, we sat at the counter and snacked on gyoza and dumplings before everyone arrived. We got happy hour prices, and the bill came to about $ 11(including my beer). After the rest of our party arrived, we were seated within about 15 minutes. We didn’t have a problem with this, but it seemed odd that it took a minute to seat us when there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant. Never the less, once we were seated, the service was really quick and concise. This was good for us, because we wanted to get across the street ASAP so that we could lobby for good seats amongst all the wannabe Luke Skywalker’s and imperial storm troopers. I ended up ordering the calamari and steak hibachi dinner(which was about $ 19.00) and a beer. I can’t remember what my wife ordered, but both of our meals came with rice, miso soup, salad, and grilled vegetables. They give you a choice here between white and fried rice. Get the fried rice… trust me, it’s awesome. The miso soup was also really good as well. It didn’t taste bland like most miso soup does. And I thought the salad was also really good as well, but my wife didn’t want her salad so she gave it to me. The guy that cooked our food was pretty entertaining, and often made a bit more food than the necessary portions dictate. As a result, he often«topped us off» on the rice and vegetables that came with the meal. Everything was delicious, and the sauces that came with the meal really brought out the flavor of the meat. The chef gave us a teriyaki sauce, a ginger sauce, and something else that escapes me at the moment. But between the three sauces, you could pretty much dip anything served to you in one of the three, and it would be delicious. So for my wife and I, the bill was about $ 45. For the amount of food we received(plus a beer), I felt that the price was more than fair. The prices here are a little cheaper than Benihana, and I also personally think the food is a better, and the portion are bigger too. Tokyo Steakhouse isn’t an «everyday» kind of restaurant for us, and it’s not good for intimate, romantic dinners. However, if you are meeting up with friends, it’s a fun option. By the time we left, the place was packed, so if you plan on going you might want to get there before 7pm if you don’t want to wait around. Totally worth the wait though…

Just ate here with my family for the first time. Even though it’s local to us it took us awhile to get around to giving it a a shot since a of reviews seemed kind of mixed. I have to say our experience was pretty good. The chef was very skilled and entertaining and the food was pretty good. We had the filet mignon with shrimps and scallops. The sushi is very average, but that’s not the main reason we came so it was passable. I would def come here again.

2 visits. Both Teriyaki Box with New York Steak medium rare. Visit #1: 5 stars. Perfect and not over cooked steak. Spicy roll was delicious. Everything else including sashimi was delicious. All for $ 17, can’t beat that. Visit #2: 1 star. Steak over cooked :(Spicy roll literally had nada flavor! Wasabi seemed too dry. Sashimi was placed with no care = horrible presentation. Everything else(tempura shrimp, tempura vegies, etc was same as before.) My conclusion? Must have been 2 different chefs/cooks. Hit or miss. It’s a shame because it’s a great deal.

The food is delicious! I’ve lived in natomas over 3 years and never knew how good this place was, try it out you will not be disappointed. I had the shrimp and chicken, the shrimp was so so good the meal came with yummy veggies, a generous serving of delicious bacon fried rice(I’m not a huge fan of bacon but it was so good), a yummy small salad and a soup(I didn’t care for the mushroom soup so substituted it for the miso and it was delicious! Better then mikuni miso soup although it didn’t have much tofu). I came here with 5 friends, great place to have a fun night out, the chef was entertaining and kept us laughing. The prices are very reasonable too!

Great food with good service on the dine-in side. We shared the Tokyo Crunch Roll(amazing!) and a Teriyaki Chicken Boat, which came with 2 fried wings, potato salad, vegetable tempura(yummy!), gyoza, and choice of salad or miso soup(we got salad). Cost for both was around $ 30(not bad for a lunch date!) I can’t wait to come back and try the hibachi-style side!

I frequent this place often, and each time has been enjoyable for different reasons. The service has been good(quick seating and order taking), food is tasty and fresh(The fried rice here is ahhhh-mazing!), and the chefs have been engaging and entertaining! Some things can be improved(the service on the dining room side can be slow, or chefs engaging you when it’s not as busy so they don’t try as hard?) but overall I’d recommend a visit, a lot of fun with a group of friends!

This is a combo of two reviews, one for the teppanyaki side and one for the dine-in side. Five stars for my experience at the teppanyaki side. This review is for a visit back in July, for my wife’s birthday. I went with my wife, three kids, and a friend. My friend and I ordered the filet, my two younger kids had the chicken, my wife had the ninja and the dynamite rolls, and my eldest had the rainbow roll. Us adults also had two flavored sake orders, apple and lychee with two large Sapporos. I wish I remembered our cook’s name. Amazing customer service. He was funny and skilled. The fried rice was BOMB. It had BACON. Nuff said. The filets were great quality and the chicken was exceptionally good. The rolls were so good. Especially the dynamite roll. It was baked, can’t remember the filling, but it was surrounded with calamari, deep fried. Wowoweewah. I highly recommend visiting the teppanyaki side. On the other hand… TWO stars for the dine in side experience. The two stars are for the food. I went with my fam on a Wednesday evening. The teppanyaki side was full. We were the only people on the dine-in side and I thought that would be nice. Wrong. The server took our orders and gave us our drinks. I ordered chicken udon with a large Sapporro, my wife ordered the dynamite and rainbow rolls, the eldest had the boat sampler, middle and youngest had the child’s teriyaki chicken boats. We also ordered baked mussels. I was given miso soup and a salad. The salad looked like it had a tablespoon of pepper dumped on. I figured, maybe it was just herbs. No, it was black pepper. That sucked. Took my whole beer to get the taste out of my mouth. Whatever, it was just salad. My food was ok. The rolls were amazing. The chicken boats had teriyaki chicken, chicken wings, rice and a pot sticker and tasted pretty good. We finished our food and realized that we never got our mussels. We also noticed that after we got our food, we didn’t see her again. That was after about 20 – 30 minutes. I flagged her down and mentioned the mussels. She went back to the kitchen and came back after a few minutes and said that it was never made. So we said forget it. I was still finishing my beer and we were just chillin for a little bit. The server said she was gonna go on break and that another person would cover. That person checked on us in about five, then we never saw her again. After another 20, I went to the hostess and asked for our check. I peaked on the teppanyaki side and saw that it was busy, my server was still on lunch, and the person covering for her was at the bar, just chillin with the server. We were the only people on that side. Terrible service. Do not come here for the dine-in side. The two stars are for the food, excluding the salad lol.

Well I have been five times over the past month. Suffice to say that I really love eating here. Lunch is such an excellent value and everything is very tasty and fresh. I have had some trips be better than others based on balance of salt/oil/spice. Have not had a real entertaining cook though. They all are about the same with the same schtick that I can almost do without especially if you are going to be dry about it. Service is a smidge better but the overall process is slow. Lunch here on the grill is a minimum of an hour so I usually have to prepare to either stay late at work or come in early to make up the extra half hour it takes extra. I have not tried them for dinner yet because I am A little afraid of the pricing because I really like my $ 11 lunch. Right now it is one of my favorite places to come. I just wish it was closer to home.

Love the Tokyo Steakhouse. The Tappan Yaki is great… if you get a good chef(and there are many), they make it a delicious and entertaining experience. This is a great family eat choice and can serve to impress a sweetie on a date.

I am a long time Benihana fan but this place might match it. It is the same time of set up with an open grill surrounded by 10 seats. I got a razz lemon drop that was delicious. I tasted my friend’s pomegranate martini and it was even better. Once we sat down, the server was not very attentive. I had wanted another drink but never got a chance to ask until I was too full. We had one of the best cooks I have had in a while. He was very entertaining with so many tricks up his sleeve. The portions were more than enough with plenty to take home. What I liked better than Beni: They have fried rice with bacon which was delicious! They have bigger portions. Much closer and bigger than the Benihana in Citrus Heights. What I didn’t like: They use a lot more oil when cooking. Also, the veggies were served last and were over cooked. I like how Beni does it first. My filet mignon was supposed to be medium rare. It came medium well. Still delicious but not how I like my filet mignon. All in all, I like Beni better(especially the SF location) but out of convenience I will probably go here more!

OVERRATED first time here since I love Benihana my standards were high fist off the chef we had was lazy didn’t do any good tricks half way cooked the food the steak had too much fat the shrimp was rubbery the bacon fried rice was good tho Benihana is much better more flavor better service better chefs better quality of meats I could definitely skip this place Benihana is the way to go they are the originals and well worth the money this place wasn’t

This place is solid. Definitely there’s little things they can improve on, like service. I enjoyed their bacon and the filet mignon was perfect. I love Benihana so it’s hard for me to think this place is better… it’s good but not better

We were seated on time for our reservation and that’s a great thing. The staff is very pleasant and accommodating. It all went bad when one person in our group has food allergies and they were to prepare his meal in the kitchen … Well we had all finished eating and his dinner still hadn’t showed up . They had so much potential until that and of course that ruined the whole experience Then the manager came out with no understanding at all I would never come back here again

Not too many places can bring a true smile to a group of grid-centric people in Natomas, but Toyko Steakhouse did the trick! These guys are running a fun and tasty teppanyaki restaurant in the old Pei Wei building near the Natomas Target. The location is a little weird, but they took over the whole building with 50% regular seating and 50% teppanyaki seating. The real star is the teppanyaki so make sure to reserve your table seating early. The menu is pretty standard with a heavy focus on seafood. Each of the chefs have their own personal touch which makes for a fun time. The food is really good, especially the bacon fried rice and shrimp. Our group had chicken, shrimp, scallops, lobster, and filet mignon. The chicken was cooked perfectly and came with your choice of several sauces. The shrimp and beef were also cooked perfectly and well seasoned. I was not impressed with the scallops and lobster and would not recommend them unless you really, really want them. The pace of the food was nice to avoid getting stuffed too quickly. There is a lot of food, so pace yourself. Plus, it is fun to watch the other tables flame up while you are waiting. Everyone loves the special touches like the onion volcano — or onion train! — and the fire. You will eat too much; you will smell like grease and smoke; you will drink too much sake, but you will have a great time. Couples on date night and families celebrating a child’s birthday sit side-by-side and everyone has a big grin on their face all night.
