I attended Locksmith school in Sacramento in 1995. I changed my name in 2005 to The Key Man to better describe my services. I am a degreed engineer in the electrical engineering field and have spent most of my earlier career in servicing critical backup power systems for large data centers. I quickly learned the value of good quality service and researched the service industry for a field that I could do as a business owner. Of all the different fields of service, I fell in love with Locksmithing. It has the challenge that I need to keep my mind young and the need of virtually everyone. People want good quality service with no fine print or a list of disclaimers, AND, at a reasonable rate. And on top of that, should there be any question about the service provided, they want the work to carry a warranty! Good quality service that includes a warranty is exactly what I provide. And it comes at a reasonable rate.

I was raised in South Dakota and lived all around there until high school graduation. Received my associates degree in electronics technology in Pennsylvania and finished off with my bachelor’s degree in Wash DC. Moved to Los Angeles in 1976 and began my career in the electrical engineering industry dealing with uninterruptible power supplies at Teledyne and Emerson. After many years of testing and design, I moved into the service industry, servicing these products. I entered into a partnership with two others in a service company, servicing these products until I found locksmithing in 1995.

Bob was able to shop up, pretty late in the evening. It was a last minute call on my part. Bob was able to re-​key fives doors very fast. Bob wade extremely knowledgable about doors and locks. I would highly recommend Bob for any lock issues.

Very Rude Receptionist
Based on all the great reviews, I called to explain my situation: 3 deadbolts, and…
Oops…didn’t get to finish explaining my service needs, because ###### rudely cut me off and informed me that I had just called her five minutes ago asking the same thing. I explained that this was the first time I had ever called, and that I had just got their number off of Unilocal.She insisted again that I had just called five minutes prior, but had refused to give her my address — she sounded very hostile. I again tried to explain that this was the first time I called, but she still met my truthful declaration with a smug skepticism. This is when I informed her that this would be the LAST time I ever called them, as well.
This is very disappointing.

I called to make an appointment a few days in advance. On the morning of the appointment, he called to confirm. He arrived as expected and changed out all the house lock and made extra keys within a half hour. He charged $ 40 for the service call and $ 11.00 for each lock. The first three keys were included and additional keys were one dollar each. He was quick and professional. I would use him again.

When you need a locksmith you typically need timely, quality work, and a reasonable price. I am happy to report that Carl provided all 3. Being a new homeowner, I was trying to get locks changed on a Sunday and Carl was happy to work with my schedule, did a great job on 3 doors with deadbolts and was very reasonable on price. Couldn’t be happier.

I lost my only key to my apartment in downtown sacramento. I used the website to send out an email at about 7 PM. I got a call back within 20 minutes. We arranged to meet in the morning. I was promised $ 75 for a new key. I received a call from his daughter the next morning. We arranged to meet at 10 AM. I showed up at 9:50 and she already had a key ready for me. I paid the $ 75 that was promised and she was on her way. I got exactly what I wanted in a locksmith.

Really impressed with the Key Man. Called him an hour ago and he was here within 45 minutes, rekeyed the locks, made three keys and is gone already!
Verry fast, professional and great service. Very reasonable as well, $ 40.00 service charge and then $ 10.00 for each lock to be rekeyed. He accepts all major credit cards
My husband’s truck was broken into inhe front of our house and everything inside was stolen including two key rings with our house keys on them.

Excellent locksmith! I called many people looking to have laser cut keys made for my 2010 forester. He is mobile and met me at a location I liked, cut three keys and programmed the car to recognize them. He did it all with a friendly, professional attitude at price that put others to shame.

I called the key man at 8am to get a few locks changed on the house. We set an appointment for 1:30 pm, but he was early! He gave sound information about all of the locks in the house, but never tried to upsell me at all! Great guy. If I ever need to get more keys, or locks changed, then he is definitely my first and only call.

The Key Man saved the day!
I had just bought a house and only had one key that only open one door. I had called the Key Man earlier about his services and had set an appt at 4pm. His rates were lower than others and was accommodating to my schedule. He was very courteous on the phone and even told me that he wouldn’t charge me the service call charge if i decided he couldn’t do what I needed him to do…
Well just right before our schedule appt… i manage to lock myself in the garage… the stupid handle automatically locks and the door shut all the way… thankfully he came on time and worked is magic on the doors… about 45 mins later he had rekeyed all 8 locks to my request…7 same locks and 1 different lock and gave me my 6 keys… I did not get charge for two different keys (like others would)…and he didn’t charge me for letting me in after i locked myself out! his price was exactly what posted online…
if i ever need a locksmith again i definitely be calling him!
