Joe and the auto crew are a solid team. I pulled my jeep in after getting a last minute call to drive to fresno. I needed an oil change bad, and they did it fast. They also checked my car over knowing that I was headed for a decent stretch on the road. In no time I had new brakes fluids etc, apparently I needed a lot more work done than I knew, but my ride was safe and the price was great, they took excellent care. I will be returning here for all my future auto repairs.

I have been to The Auto Experts for at least the last 6 years having them do the smog checks, and some additional services. Staff is always professional, courteous. The work is done in the time promised with clear explanations when needed. It is an honest operation, with good staff.

Sam is the best. He runs an honest shop the prices are fair, not too expensive but also not cheap. I had an Audi that needed a lot of work and as a college student I was struggling to keep up with repairs. Sam gave me his honest opinion when I brought it in to be looked at. He diagnosed the problem and told me that it honestly was not worth fixing he DID NOT lie to me and take my money like some shops. He advised me to get another car. I now have a Camry and will be taking it Sam for all the routine things… As many people have stated he honestly is not very good with time and he does not always communicate or call back… Which can be issue. I live down the street from the shop so I am able to pop and check the progress… Service wise and his honesty gets 5 stars the time issue brings it to 4.

The Auto Experts ARE as good as it gets! Sam, Joe, Dave, I think you are all AWESOME! Thanks for being honest and trustworthy and for keeping my 2002, Hyundai, Santa Fe alive.

We have been using Auto Experts for our business Superior Produce and our personal vehicles since they have been open. We keep going back and referring people because they are honest, fair priced, and have always done a great job. Would recommend them to anyone.

This shop is fairly priced, does quality work, and provides honest service. I’ve taken my two cars here for routine maintenance for over 2 years with only positive interactions. They earned a 5^th star, however, because of their honesty and friendliness in their interactions with the customer. They made a mistake on my recent tire change and alignment, which ruined the tires. Sam (the owner) promised to make it right and immediately refunded all costs.

I’m long past due for a review here, as I’ve been a patron for something like 5 years. I’ve had all manner of service done here from smog checks to transmission services and I’ve never had a real problem. Price is fair, service and timeliness are always great.
In response to a couple of the more negative reviews here, I’d just say that patience is a waning quality these days. Also, a lot of shops have some serious issues with honesty as reflected in Unilocal reviews. You don’t have to worry about that here, which is a load off of my mind.

Wow. Walked in and stood for ten minutes totally ignored. No hello. Nothing. As far as I could tell, there was nobody there but me. Went to SMOG Express instead and my car was in in 30 seconds!

Reasonable price, friendly service, not a long wait so I’m happy with my service. I came here for a smog check and it did not take long.

We have had Sam and crew work on our cars over about 10 years and found them to be honest and helpful. We even had to call from Paso Robles once for advice on the road. Plus the convenience of Saturday hours. Good place!

Sam runs a very honest and extremely affordable shop. I’ve had my 4Runner serviced by The Auto Experts a few times. From fluid changes, CV Joint replacement, radiator replacement, brakes, he’s done it all with quality workmanship. I will continue to bring my truck here. No doubt about it.

I’ve been going to Sam for a long time. Over 10 years. He’s done at least 20 smog tests for me over the years. This year 3 alone. They also have done some repair work for me, but I do my own most of the time. I’m a happy customer and will keep returning.

I’m giving an «a-​ok» because four stars seems excessive for giving me an hour estimation on a smog, and taking just over two hours. Now, I’m not fully versed in the new smog deal (STAR program) but I’ve had enough issues in the past that getting even my toyota smogged makes me pucker up a bit. Thank the lord Jesus, it passed, but had I sat in the waiting area for two hours this would have been a two star review. As it was, I got lucky and had a friend nearby and we went somewhere cool for a drink to wait. Nice guy, decent place, convenient location… poor estimation of time. I had assumed the one hour estimate was an exaggeration, rather than an underestimation.

I had problem with my serpentine belt after it being replaced by Jiffylube. I went to this place for a check-​up but they couldn’t find the faults. So they suggested me to do a diagnostic test, running code and everything. Still couldn’t find the problem.
To be honest, being a high school student at the time, I felt like I was being fooled.

All of my neighbors on my street uses Sam, I mean literally every single person on my block. I went to him when my regular mechanic was to busy to fit me in, (I can’t wait a week to be seen). I drive a beater, and old (almost as old as me, over 300,000 miles) car that has had a lot of problems. The most recent problem ended up being hard to diagnose, but the problem was fixed within 4 days and I have had no other problems since the repair. I felt Sam was fair with the price, and found a re-​built part saving me over $ 200.
The only reason why they don’t get 5 stars is he is not the best with returning phone calls but I have always been treated with respect and not «talked down to» since I am female. I would give him 4.5 stars. They are a small shop, without bells and whistles, but they seem fair and decently priced.

I looked up reviews and was comfortable with supporting this local auto shop. The estimate I was given on the phone for a diagnostic check was $ 89.00. My husband took our car in and he was then quoted $ 130.00. We left our car for service to be picked up the next day. My husband spoke to the shop on pick up morning and was again told the total would be $ 130.00. Within a couple of hours he went to pick up car and the total was now $ 180.00 as additional work was done that was not authorized. Of course the owner had just left the shop. He was assured by the receptionist that we would receive a call from the owner. That was ten days ago…
We live in the same neighborhood as shop, just a few blocks away. I will be sure to spread the word to friends and neighbors not to patronize this shop. Really bad customer service.

I was relieved to find that this place was open on Saturdays. I dropped my vehicle off on a Saturday morning without an appointment. No one gave me a status update, no one returned my call, and if I hadn’t gone there half an hour before they closed, I probably wouldn’t have gotten my vehicle back the same day.
When I picked up my vehicle, there were about 5 shop guys including the owner/​operator, yet my vehicle hadn’t been touched for 6 hours. if you’re busy and don’t think you can get to a vehicle, let the customer know, please.
What made me upset is that I wasn’t told how busy he was. If he told me he didn’t have time, I would have either rescheduled. I understand that people get busy, but I really wish there was better communication between them and myself.
I’m sure these guys do their job well and actually, they are pretty nice and their labor rate is $ 10 less than another shop I considered going to, but based on my drop off experience, I wasn’t happy at all. I will say that the owner offered suggestions as to what might be wrong with it, but ultimately, I Googled what was happening to my Jeep, tried it and saved myself $ 220.
Would I recommend this place? Of course. I never want to ruin anyone’s business or deter someone from going to a certain place, because MY bad experience may have been a fluke; they may have exceptional service any other day, so I will say this: I HIGHLY recommend that you make an appointment.
2 stars only because: 1) they’re open on Saturday and 2) they’re nice.

I showed up for a smog check and was out in about half an hour. Nice people & great service.

Sam and his staff are very helpful and efficient. I have had my car fixed for large issues here as well as my routine oil and smog needs. Supreme service.

i brought my car here based on the recommendation of a classmate, but i don’t intend to go back again. i’m not a car expert by any means, but the customer service was poor and i also feel like i was overcharged. =(
i called in the morning and was told that it would be fine to bring my car in, but when i got there i had to wait an hour for someone to take down my info. i also had to leave my car overnight b/​c they weren’t finished w/​it before they closed. so inconvenient! i wish they had just been straight and told me they were already busy when i called in the morning. i would have much preferred to come in on a day when they were less crowded (to save myself the time and the hassle).
strike two is the fact that the owner promised to call me by a certain time and didn’t… twice! and i don’t mean he called me five minutes late. i mean he didn’t call at all. this may seem like a small thing, but to me it’s really important for people to keep their word. if you’re not sure you can come through on something, then don’t make the promise to begin w/​ (even if it’s something small).
so the problem was that my car doesn’t shift well and the transmission warning light came on. they ran their diagnostic tests and nothing came up, so they ended up just flushing the transmission fluid. that doesn’t seem too sketchy (since my car was overdue for that service anyway), but the bottom line is that i ended up paying $ 250 and my car isn’t running any better than before!
the funniest thing is that they have a sign on the desk that says they welcome referrals. maybe if they focused more on providing better service they’d actually get some referrals w/​out soliciting for them.
