Tech 2U

The first time I used them, great service and my computer repair went great. The second time not so great. They said the repair work (warranty) and ALL services would be covered by apple. When the technician came out and delivered my computer, there all of the sudden was a $ 289 bill. When I asked about the bill, they told me that they clearly told me this over the phone (they did not) and that I had to pay it before the technician left. I felt pressured and super uncomfortable. Won’t use them again.

About 6 months ago, I bought my husband an external hard drive from Costco. I thought he could use it to backup his files from his laptop. Fast forward to last week when his laptop went kaput. Even his computer-​savvy buddy was unable to get past the black screen of death. Too bad my husband never actually used the backup hard drive that his [super smart] wife bought him months ago!!!
So he googled «computer repair in Sacramento» and came across Tech 2U. He brought in his laptop, and they offered a completely free diagnostic without any contract/​fee. After a day or so, they gave him a call letting him know that they were able to locate his personal files! My husband brought in his [unused] external hard drive so that they could put the files on it. The next day, he received a call stating that the data retrieval was complete and he could pick up his equipment.
$ 189 later, he has all of his precious photos, videos, and documents safe and sound on the hard drive.
These guys are great. Highly recommended! Very friendly and professional, and definitely seem to know what they’re doing!

This place is awesome. The people are knowledgeable and friendly. They are so polite. I installed the Unilocal app in order to leave my review for them as they deserved it. I would highly recommend this place for all your computer problems and they also do cellphone repair I guess.

I was having some issues with my computer so I came to Tech2U with hopes that they’d be able to fix it. They knew exactly what was wrong and in 1 short hour, everything was fixed! Highly recommend you come here if you’re having computer problems. Excellent customer service. (:

I brought my macbook pro into their shop because I thought my hard drive was about to fail. Bijan was great and explained everything to me thoroughly. After a few hours, they were able to make a copy of my existing data, replace the hard drive, and tested to make sure my mac was in working order before giving it back to me. I am overly impressed with their knowledge and quick service. I would recommend them to anyone.

I had them install our office computers and set up networking, back up, and printers. They were very professional from our initial meeting thru installation. Gavin was thorough in explaining options and helping guide us in the selection process. Perry was very helpful while installing our system and did clean work. Will made an inspection to make sure we were taken care and satisfied. We are very satisfied with Tech2U and know we hired the right company.

Decent service… if you don’t mind the wait or the price.
I took my laptop in around the end of August. The audio and wi-​fi had suddenly stopped working, and I had been getting the blue screen of death for a while. It’s five years old, so it was due for a problem, I guess.
The tech who took my PC called me a couple days later with a diagnosis. He told me that he felt it was a certain problem, and he would try something out, and that the total would come down to $ 189. I winced a bit at the price but I had no choice.
The tech called me with an update a few days later, saying that what he tried hadn’t worked, but by looking at the hardware, he felt if he replaced the motherboard, it would solve the issue– for an additional $ 140. I might as well have put the nearly $ 400 I would be spending into a new laptop. I balked at this, saying I couldn’t afford to pay so much. He quickly suggested a cheaper audio board which he thought might also work, that would only be $ 30. While I wish this was the first option mentioned, I appreciated the fact that he mentioned it all– I guess he didn’t want to lose the sale, because at this point I would have to cut my losses and take my laptop elsewhere. He said the part would come in a week or so.
About a week later, I received a call saying that the good news was that the audio board did fix the issue, but the audio board they received had been damaged– the external microphone was broken. I was surprised that instead of apologizing and saying they would immediately order a new part, they asked if I still wanted the damaged part, and that they’d knock off $ 10. Yeah… no. I contemplated taking it as I just wanted my laptop back after not having it for several weeks, but I soon realized paying for a damaged part was not in my best interest, and I asked them to get another one. I get the damage of the part wasn’t their fault, but if I didn’t indicate I needed it rushed, why even ask if I wanted a broken part???
Another week passed. Finally, I received a call notifying me that the part had come in and my laptop was ready for a morning pickup. I picked it up with no problems, and while it still seemed to be updating, even though they said it was done, I’ve had it for a few days now and I’ve had no issues.
Overall, I was satisfied and would go back again. I appreciated them constantly updating me and letting me know what and when things were happening. I didn’t appreciate the time it took. You can get it expedited, but that of course costs extra. And it was a bit pricey– I’m not sure how much that fix would have cost me elsewhere, but I wouldn’t have minded the time it took– three weeks!- if it had been $ 100, maybe $ 150. I had an employee download a virus on his work computer. I was only days from going on vacation and really needed this fixed quickly. Danny was extremely helpful and understood my situation. I had my computer back the next day. The quick turnaround minimized the disruption to my business and allowed me to go on vacation knowing my business was running smoothly while I am gone.

This place has fixed my computer twice for me. Once was just a minor glitch, but the other time I had lost significant data and was told by Geek Squad that there was no way to recover it. However, Tech 2U did recover all the information. Thank you!

This company has now called me and made threats to start making negative lies about me and my company on social media to get revenge for there lack of ability to provide competent services and because I want my money back!

Just used this company again for help with my computer. This time they helped me remotely. That was very cool and saved me a long drive and money. I think Brad helped me and he was very nice.

Had an amazing experience with Tech 2U. My computer had a virus so i called and they had me remotely connect to a technician. They repaired my computer quickly and recommended some extra security. Ultimately my computer is running much better and I have peace of mind knowing my computer has better security then before.

I am sooooo impressed with the service I received today! Erin is such a patient and considerate tech. I’m very pleased with my service and experience. I look forward to our relationship in the future!

I am updating my review, because I had a great experience earlier today with the manager of the store, Danny.
Danny called me today, and to be honest, he is the best part of this store. He was extremely apologetic and understanding of my situation. In fact, he corroborated the story I was telling the employee on Monday about how Danny told me I should get my part for free. I am reposting a new review, because Danny went above and beyond to fix my little «situation». People like Danny are why I will continue to use this business. Actually, I was only treated poorly by one person. Everyone here is very professional and helpful, even when dealing with my anger.

I had a few experiences with Tech 2U and each was great! 2 times they came by for different problems on different computers and fixed them!
I took my old computer in and had it cleaned out and started from fresh and it works great!
They remote fixed my laptop. I use it for work and I had pop ups and re directs like crazy. They cleaned and fixed it. It runs like a new machine!
Each time great results and will continue to go to them.

Brandon from Tech2U was able to save my company today. He is in Sacramento and my company is in Las Vegas. He was able to help on desktop, blackberry and my Ipad. better than expected results and I have full faith in his abilities as well as the integrity of this company. Hi Unilocalers! I’m happy to report that a day after I posted my original one star Unilocal rating and complaint about Tech2U, one of the owner/​partners, Todd, called me to try to remedy the situation. Although still not willing to refund my $ 75 AVG, Todd explained that the AVG Key is still in my name with them and it cannot be canceled by them with AVG per their business to business agreement. Todd offered me a compromise with his agreeing to a one-​time free service, which is a $ 99 value based on what they normally charge. He said it could be used to service any electronics they handle or if I were to buy another tablet or laptop then they would install my remaining AVG subscription and provide a complimentary service to get it set-​up and running properly. I’ve agreed to accept his offer that is contingent on my being able to use this offer within the year, and if I don’t purchase any alternative electronic equipment, then we would revisit my getting a partial $ 50 refund. I can live with this arrangement and am happy that Tech2U and Todd valued me as a customer and their willingness to try to resolve this matter quickly, as well as keep me a happy customer.
RE: Virus Protection
I would recommend that you purchase AVG directly online instead of from ANY outside service provider, as I am sure this scenario would be the same and is not solely an issue with Tech2U. If you are sure you will own/​run your equipment for the full year, then buying through Tech2U would be most convenient.

It isn’t often in this day-​and-​age that companies will try to handle such matters as quickly and efficiently as Tech2U did, and for that I truly appreciate Todd and the Tech2U team’s efforts. Their service guys are great and I will happily recommend their techs to anyone needing assistance. I rest easier knowing that they have my back when I need it! THANK YOU Tech2U!!!

I see that there are mixed reviews on here, but I had a great experience. I had a computer issue that was above my pay grade and needed help — safe mode, restores, etc. didn’t resolve the problem. I called Tech2U and I had a technician (Scott, I believe) at my house in less than 2 hours. He listened to what had been happening, including my less-​than-​stellar technical explanation. He was patient and didn’t make me feel like an idiot. Then, he quickly verified what I was saying and began running tests. After about 20 minutes of screens and diagnostics I didn’t understand, he had located the main issue and shared my options for resolving it. The fix was something I could handle myself, so he didn’t try to do it or charge me extra for staying longer. I had my PC up and running within an hour.
What I also appreciated was that he found some rogue unwanted programs that I thought I’d deleted, but parts were still hiding in sneaky places. He pointed them out and helped me delete them for good.

This company, Tech 2U repaired two of the Google Nexus 7 (32 gb) tablets for me/​my grandsons which I thought were a total loss. Both purchased for the holidays in 2012 had been dropped and cracked prior to reaching the holidays of 2013. After searching online I learned that finding a repair service for these tablets may prove to be quite a challenge and didn’t involve just the screens as the screens are actually virtually impossible to separate for their backing so you may as well buy both parts.
Was I thrilled when I called Tech 2U and they not only told me they would fix them, they would also give me a slight discount for bringing in two.
Here’s where it got interesting. The first company they ordered parts from, [in China of course] the parts were faulty and the sensitivity on the screens when installed was not the same on all areas of of the screen. At no additional cost, they ordered the parts through a different distributor. Once they opened the second tablet to install, they learned there was an additional broken part from the fall/​blow to the tablet (my grandsons live in the midwest and when slipping on ice the tablet took flight). The only additional cost I paid over the original quote was for their cost of this part.
Because the tablets took so much longer to repair than originally expected and my grandsons had returned home from their holiday vacation to CA, Tech 2U even shipped the tablets at their expense to my grandsons’ home to compensate.
The tablets are now encompassed in OtterBox covers!!! I am very satisfied with Tech 2U service, their keeping me posted on the challenges they were facing, that they didn’t give up on repairing the tablets even though it seems this was a very low profit margin by the time they completed this challenging project. If you have a Google Nexus 7 that needs repair, I’d definitely recommend you take it here and see if you can make it a useful tablet instead of a ‘brick.’ (which is what I initially thought the tablets would be after reading all the online challenges and no service in this area)
